Also, you can also use a Dremel type tool with those little drum sanders or even a diamond disk bit to clean up and fine tune the edge. That's what I usually do. Sometimes you'll find the floor not being level is the main problem, which requires tilting the coped profile slightly to get a tight fit from top to bottom.

When I teach (I'm an RN BTW) I use similar methods to yours, which people really appreciate. You offer the best tutorials and I always go to you for answers. My question???? How do we keep the potty mouthed "trolls" from invading legitimate video comment realms when all the producer wants to do is enhance the results of our projects? I don't get it!?!?! Blesses be Leah - another job well done!

+Jan Filbeck Free speech has a price and if you don't want neg. comments ignore them. The expression don't feed the trolls is an expression for a reason. We don't need more censorship on the net or anywhere else. People that really want the information you are providing will appreciate it and the trolls will be trolls.
@RMB42
@RMB42 8 лет назад
+staggerlee14760 There's no such thing as "free speech" on a web site or a video comment thread. Yeah, someone is free to post anything they want, but the moderator is just as free to delete it. Some people seem to think that "free speech" means freedom from any negative consequences of what they say, or that it overrides someone else's freedom to not listen to it, or to not include it in their video comment thread. Do you really think web site moderators aren't free to filter comments?
@staggerlee14760
@staggerlee14760 8 лет назад
The point I'm making (maybe not as well as I'd hope) is there is trolls and you or any moderator will not stop it without disabling comments entirely so I would just say to ignore them would be the best way. "Do you really think web site moderators aren't free to filter comments?" It depends on the the intent of the web site. If you want to preach to the choirs then by all means censor it but don't think you will have an open debate that way.

+Jan Filbeck thank you! For real ppl get so sensitive. Everyone is going to have "their way" . I am pretty sure she doesn't put these vids out there for the pros but for DIYers...if you are a pro and watching her videos, you are learning, if you think you have a better way to do it then why are you watching anyway? Jeez. This angers me because its not just in carpentry or whatever..its in every single genre of things. I have a parrot and If I watch videos , then you have ppl that raise parrots for their entire lives doing the same thing on these comments...getting mad and arguing. LIVE AND LET LIVE...sheesh

as a carpenter for 30 years i came up with a trick for base board . on the bottom of the drywalled corners there is a curve so that 1/2 " drywall has a a mud joint . this is not filled by mud on the floor . as base will cover it . so i put a roofing nail on the bottom of the corner only on the side that you don't want to cope . i use a square to make it stick out from the drywall 1/2 " OR MORE . as i can always use a piece of wood and gently tap the nail inwards when i fit the trim.(this can be done with the trim in place if you hamer with a board on top of the nice trim ) then always cut the trim a 1/16'" bigger than what you need , and the force of bending it will force a tight joint . . another trick when coping , is you can measure an entire room at a time , closets and all . and get accurate measurements.( if you measure inside corners you are accurately measuring to the long point of the 45 degree angle, if you measure from an inside corner to an outside the measurment would be long to short on opposite sides of the base . with a trim saw i mark both on the very top . ) i like to write the base size on the floor . then transfer to a drawing of the room . i use the symbol / for an inside and outside corner , and [---] for a door . i can measure a whole second story . then go down to the saw and cut all the pieces , mark them and pile them into rooms , and then i have 1 trip up and one back down . for 40 pieces of trim . i do mess up , and cut some long , but the more you get used to this idea the better you get. when i find one long or short i move on to all that are precise and nail them . in a big room on average i get 1 or 2 that need trimming . another thing id like to say is that , 1 nail per stud is adequate, any more is just a waste of time . this is not a load bearing wall . and 1 nail per 16 inch is better than good . with that done feel free to msg me if you don't understand what im saying. and seejanedrill . i wish you all the love peace and understanding that can be had in this world .
@plumptonsonsconstructionge9379
+OrthamVega Ortham, this all sounds very good to me and i like to do as much of this as I can. the one thing i know i don't do is your nail trick on the corners. I would like to try this but I'm not quite sure i understand. I understand that there is a bevel on the side of drywall for mud. and that tapers usually don't go all the way to the floor. So I'm assuming your talking about the bevel that doesn't get touched by mud close to the floor?. Then why 1/2" out from the wall? the bevel is maybe an 1/8' deep right? that's where I get lost I think.. HEEELLLLP. Haha Cheers
