Thanks Dave 👍🏼 ha ha I sawed two lengths and I’ll admit I was dripping like a broken tap and by the time I finished I only processed one log ha ha…. Would have been easier climbing Ben Nevis 😂. Thanks again, ATB Steve
One of your best this, outstanding perspective of one of Northumberland's hidden gems. A cosy night eh? Your night shots were canny epic like. Well done pal, great viewing. Catch up soon, Milesy 👍
Cheers mate and thanks for showing me it a few years back, absolute gem as you well know. Mind you were right I should have taken the long burn coals 😂 next time mate next time lol. My boxers gave me an extra 20 mins of heat 😂. Cheers the skies were washed out with moonshine but the stars were still crazy, next time I’ll have a wider lens and plan it for zero moon. We should get back up and make a good night of it 🍻. Cheers for watching pal and let’s get something pinned down for a catch up. Take care, Steve
Cheers Fraser thanks for the kind words. Yeah it’s a smashing little gem, the perfect place for a bit of peace and escapism. I do love a crackling fire 😍. Thanks for watching mate and hope you’re well. ATB Steve
It’s a stunning well kept bothy this one and everyone who has used it has kept it nice. Hope it stays this way as it’s absolutely perfect. Thanks for watching ATB Steve
Thanks Paul the stars were amazing they simply filled the night sky and with little light pollution it was perfect to capture them. Thanks for watching, ATB Steve
Thanks Mic it’s a beauty up there isn’t it, I could live there happily. Yeah that direction was showing all sorts up would have been amazing to have a telescope or star tracker. Trying to focus on improving my photography but it’s just finding the time to get out and do it. Thanks for watching, Steve
Outstanding Steve! easily the best video I've watched this year👍 That evening sky was on fire! A well earned beer after preparing all that firewood, beautifully lit interior shots really captured what staying in a Bothy can be like. Awesome Astro shots followed by the sunrise, just perfect! A pleasure to watch from start to finish 👍👍Atb Anthony
Hi Anthony thanks for watching and wow That’s made my day coming from the man who actually makes some of the finest wild camping media on here ☺️. Everything just worked out on this one and it turned out to be an amazing yet simple night. Thanks for the kind words mate and hope you are keeping well, ATVB Steve
Thanks Harry appreciate it 👌, perfect little shelter for the night tbh and it was down to about -1 through the night but still about 7°C inside when I woke up. Very lucky indeed. Thanks for watching hope you’re well. ATB Steve
Hi Gail thank you 🙏🏼 , it’s an amazing place isn’t it? The skies up that area are superb and when you can see the milky way up there it’s crystal clear. Shame there was a faint Milky Way but the moon washed it out quite a lot. Hope you’re well, ATB Steve
You got a great night in the bothy Steve , always a bonus when it’s all for you . Love the night sky shots and lovely roaring fire warming the place up . Tfs atb Dave
Thanks Dave 👍🏼, I couldn’t believe it was empty and the right conditions just came together to make for a perfect night. It was perfect. Thanks for watching and hope you’re keeping well. ATB Steve
Thanks mate yeah you really need to try it just look on the mountain bothy associations website there might be a one close to you worth trying. It’s a totally different experience but a great one and still feels as exciting as camping. You’ll love it I’m sure. ATB Steve
Only been to Keilder water once when we were stopping up there for a few nights in a country pub. After a long wet walk to the bothy it must be a bit of a worry incase there are others in the bothy, especially as it was not the biggest. Pleased you had it all to yourself and what a brilliant view through the window. The skies looked like they were on fire, what an amazing sight but that looked hard work mind with that bow saw. It's a sausage yes from me but a black pudding no, cannot stand the stuff but you made a great job of the fire, looked toasty. Those star shots were magical mind, absolute belters and a remember 3 friends renting a log cabin up there and they spent most of the night (warm summers night) outdoors looking up at the stars, must have been an amazing thing to see. A real canny morning to wake up too as well, looked like a real nice trip, cheers Alan
Hi Alan thanks for stopping by mate and yeah it was on my mind and I thought if someone is in I’ll leave my supplies for them and head home but I was very lucky. I still expected people to rock up if I’m honest that’s why I didn’t set my gear up until later. Amazing skies up there some of the finest in England and Europe and right on our doorsteps too 😍. This turned out to be a great start to 2022 and hopefully it only gets better. I’m certainly going to get out more and spend more time outdoors and work can take a back seat for the moment. Anyways thanks again and I hope 2022 is being kind to you and the family mate stay safe in these storms too. ATB Steve
top notch that pal looks like a lot of effort gone into that & it shows ..the scenes & angles you got it spot on..just wondering if you actually did get that gret log sawn through though 😉😂gutted i could'nt make it with ya mate it looks a great spot.we'll have to re-arrange that one i like the look of it tfs mate & hopefully catch up soon.
Cheers mate appreciate it, I had a little time to try and grab better shots instead of racing up a hill lol. Yeah I cut two but left one whole as I was soaked in sweat prepping it 😂. Sawed the first one into quarters and luckily took a hatchet to process it down further ( proved to be a life saver). Aye it’s a shame pal it was perfect too but there’s plenty of other opportunities coming up so we will head back. Thanks again and definitely catch you soon, ATB Steve
Cheers Scott 👍🏼, yeah very lucky indeed I thought there would have been someone in and infact I half anticipated leaving people my wood and supplies and heading back to the car. I didn’t want to leave on the morning I had been packed away about an hour before I dragged myself away lol. Thanks for watching mate hope all is well. ATB Steve
Thanks John appreciate the kind words it was a cracking night and just what I needed at the time. Hope you manage to experience something similar or better mate. Thanks for watching ATB Steve
@@outdoorslifestyle2900 Been reading some negative comments about Bothys lately, namely that they've become too popular and people are turning up in larger numbers and some of them taking the pee a bit. (Leaving a mess etc) Overreacting?
@@user-John666tbh sometimes it may happen but these remote ones are worth a visit especially mid week when it’s e expected to be quieter. Hope you’re keeping well and hopefully you’ve managed to get out 🙏🏼
Cracking video Steve that looked like a great Bothy mate and the night photos were amazing I've just done a Bothy camp last night was good and different atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Cheers Jimmy it’s a beaut tbh and the perfect place to sit and watch the stars. Few down trees in my way in so had to climb around them but other than that it was perfect. Yeah I seen your shots mate it looks a nice bothy that one and now I’ve got the bug again I might have to visit it soon 👌. Thanks for watching, ATB Steve
Cracking video Steve, I’ve done a few bikepacking trips to bothies in Kielder but fancy this one .. where about did you park as I know it’s limited in the local village. Cheers
Thanks Darren appreciate it and definitely recommend one. It’s a totally different experience to wild camping but gets you out in comfort especially with the fire. Yeah it’s always nice to try and leave it as good as or better than I found it and takes no effort. Cheers for watching mate, ATB Steve
glad you enjoyed it mate 👌it's my favourite of the kielder bothys.hope you found the water source on the left just before you go into the bothy.bet your hooked now 👍
Cheers mate I loved every minute and didn’t want to leave lol, what a place! Yeah the water source is perfect I didn’t actually use it this time but I know for the next time 🙌🏼. Thanks for watching and hope you’re well, ATB Steve
Cheers Gary it really was perfect we’ll could have done with more wood and maybe some coal but no complaints from me mate. Hope you’re good 👍🏼 ATB Steve
Thanks Robin 👌, the cameras used were mainly my iPhone 13 and then the low light shorts the Sony a7iii which I need to use more of as it’s a smashing camera when the light fades. It’s just a tad heavy lol. Thanks again, ATB Steve
Thank you 🙏🏼, the music is by various artists from the website epidemic sounds infact I’ll amend the description to include that info. Thanks for watching, ATB Steve
Class mate, best kind of r&r👌🏻 You film all that on your phone mate? Picture quality looked unreal on the tv. Looks a great Bothy too, one I’m yet to visit. Great video Steve👍🏻Atb mate, Mark
It certainly is the best kind mate nothing beats it and the fire with beers beside it was perfection. I recorded this on the phone and my mirrorless camera for the lower light shots. I should really use it more. You definitely need to try it plus as you know there’s no skies like Northumberland. Thanks again, ATB Steve
Thing is Kathleen most people don’t like to share the locations as since lockdown these places have been trashed by a minority of idiots. Such a shame really as they are free to use allover the country
Class video mate and what a place to spend the night 🌙 Brilliant you got the bothy for yourself, can't beat a bit time on your own to just kick back and relax 🙂 The night shots you got were mint, good stuff marra ATB CHRIS 👍
Hi Chris I do apologise mate I’ve just seen this comment. Thanks for watching mate and yeah very lucky to have it to myself but what a place. Appreciate it pal hope you’re well l, ATB Steve
Yes it’s a bothy usually old shepherd huts like you say that are repurposed into shelters by the mountain bothy association. They do an amazing job and simply take donations. You can’t book them you simply turn up and if it’s empty you can use it. ATB Steve
@@outdoorslifestyle2900 Thx for confirmation. I wish my country got something like that. There are huts to some extent, but haven't heard of repurposed shepherd's huts. What is the custom if someone is already there? You leave, you share the bothy without asking or first to come has a say if you can stay?
