A lot of you brought this game up after my previous video so here I am playing it. Though I'd struggle to call Sonic Jam for the game.com a game to be honest... TWITCH: / walkerslegendz #sonic #sonicthehedgehog #sonicjam
Having a Gamecom and this game, the emulator is a superior experience. The screen refresh rate is so bad that it turns into a blurry mess. While the graphics look decent enough, on a real console the second you move it turns into a blurry mess that reminds me of accidentally looking at the sun and your eyes are screwed up for a minute or so. All I have to say is, "It stinks".
@@MaxOakland I actually doubt that it could get much better than this. The specs of the Gamecom are strange. The CPU was an 8-bit Sharp industrial controller clocked in at 10MHz. Now this sounds great, 2 and a half times more powerful than the Gameboy's CPU. Well that is great until you realize that the graphics, the I/O and everything else are run by the CPU. Now I am no expert when it comes to programming the Gamecom, but if I had to take a guess, the CPU has to render the graphics every other frame since it is trying to run the game's code as well. So you get one frame for graphics and another frame to execute code. For an industrial machine this is fine, for a game console, "It stinks".
When you say low refresh rate, you actually mean ghosting. The ghosting was so terrible, I can’t even think of any modern examples of what it was like. Like, the second you start moving the entire screen becomes a featureless grey smear!
I'm going one step further for a even worse game, sonic the hedgehog for the leapfrog didj (or sonic didj in short) and yes, it's also a official sonic game.
I actually talked about Sonic N in my Super Sonic video! I pretty much said all my thoughts there, so I don't think I'll ever make another video about it unless it's a part of a video with multiple games.
Yeah the reviewers "looking back on it, it's not that bad". Well, yeah you're playing it for free on an emulator which can mask some of the problems that the original copy didn't or they are playing an update which was a year after the initial release
i know i have not commented in a while ive busy but these videos just keep getting better and better and you are growing a ton as a channel i hope you keep doing what you love best and keep making great vids
@@2_many_alts at least it had better music and visuals and also more content as well than Sonic Jam on the game com. Also if you hold the stick forwards while on loops they don't break.
@@2_many_altsThe only level I'd say is anywhere close to unplayable is Flame Core, because of a few genuinely awful parts. It IS a very glitchy and messy game, but it's not a Superman 64 situation. You won't have to restart the entire level because Sonic decided the entire floor doesn't exist or something.
Wow, ok, so not the worst then. That is a first, thank you for this, I was genuinely convinced that there was nothing redeemable or even remotely satisfying about this piece of garbage. I am very impressed you found some fun out of it.
I think one thing that maybe would sway you into considering this game annoyingly bad is playing it on real hardware. You have no idea how much work this emulator is doing for the game, the original gamecom screen makes the game looks so much worse and it has terrible refresh rate
Seeing this, Segw deserved to crumble. Every decision they made after/post sega genesis was horrible. Game gear flopped, sega cd flopped, Saturn flopped, this nonsense handles made form their license, and the Dreamcast flopped.
I agree that Sonic Genesis is overall worse, Sonic Jam Gamecom is like Spyro Enter the Dragonfly where it's a funny kind of bad, but Sonic Genesis has no comedic value it's just a horrible port.
Bruh should have been unsubbed for saying sonic on genesis was trash matter fact why even listen to this guy 😂 You mean sonic 07is better than the sega one yea bro trippin not watching nothing he got to say
He’s calling the official Game Boy Advance port, which is literally titled “Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis”, bad. If you haven’t heard of that port, then that’s probably for the better. The original game on the original hardware is good, but the GBA port was a mistake.
@@rishyrish I, and the video, are talking about the GBA port of Sonic the Hedgehog, literally titled “Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis”. Released in 2006 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the franchise only in North America. It was, let’s just say, not good. Go look it up yourself.
You missed one of the worst parts because you used an emulator…the SCREEN of the Gamecom is quite possibly the worst thing even created by humans. No backlight, agonizing sprite ghosting, severe blur, and a generally faded look made basically everything on there with speed faster than a powerpoint slide literally unplayable. People who complain about the OG Gameboy having a bad screen have never tried to play that garbage device.
