Short Catechism - From the book, Elder Paisios of Mount Athos by Hieromonk Isaac / prezviteros www.buymeacoff... #orthodoxy #elderpaisios #catechism #elders #holyfathers #churchfathers #church #serbianorthodoxchurch
Thank you for your question because it encouraged me to watch this video again. To know that with the help and prayers of such saints as dear Saint Paisios, i, and others, may be saved from the clutches of hell, despite our sins, can only bring me hope. It isn't a hope i had in my former religious life. I recognize the unusualness of this. But the Lord, the Righteous Judge, is on our side. It is a mystery that is beyond me. I know my words are inadequate. But i am grateful for the Lord's mercy to us, however it is prompted..☦📿💝📿☦
Indeed ! Lord is MercyFull He has no Limit or Bounderys to his Mercy Love and Blessing ! Read Psalms / Fasting and Do all This Wiithout Expecting Something in Return As our Lord Loved us Uncodnitionaly We Shouldnot Expect Anythinig (Thats the True Form Of Love ) ! Just Put All your Faith and Trust in Jesus Christ Of Nazareth !
Isn’t this about Purgatory? And Not hell. No soul is heard of coming back from hell. It’s eternal doom right? It says hell probably because there is no belief of purgatory in Orthodox?
It's not the end yet, so we can pray for & do good deeds in memory of the dead. Also, the Church prays for all the dead & the whole world. We should especially pray for our deceased family & friends, as well as parishioners. The Orthodox teaching is that we're given a foretaste of our eternal futures after death, but also that prayers for the dead & good deeds done in their names (especially giving alms) can help them. The soul can't repent after it's separated from the body, but others can help in a way that God knows & is mysterious to our understanding. I don't know the Roman Catholic teaching of purgatory, but it was rejected by St. Mark of Ephesus @ the Council of Florence, & I know that he spoke for the Orthodox Church on the matter back then. You should look up what he wrote about it. St. Mark if Ephesus will clear the matter up for you.
@@russellhoward3866 yes praying for the dead refers to those in Purgatory. And not for the eternally damned. That’s a wrong notion. You should look more into it. There is no doubt that there is no hope once a soul is eternally damned. There is a reason why hell is again and again mentioned as eternal damnation. Purgatory on the other hand is where we all require purification where prayers can help the dead for their deeds on earth which were in contrary to the Faith but yet they lived a life in Christ. Purgatory has been mentioned and has been shown to several thousands of saints by Jesus Himself. You should check it up on St Faustina, St Padre Pio, St Gemma Galgani are just very few of the recent saints.
According to our apostle Paul,to be SAVED, you must BELIEVE/TRUST The Gospel of Jesus Christ,1 st Corinthians Chapter 15 verses 1-4.Jesus Christ died on the cross for all of your sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day.Jesus Christ’s Shed Blood is what saves you when you Believe this plan of salvation with your heart.Romans 3:25” Faith in His Blood”
@Christisrisen41 , Ephesians 2:8-9 Rightly Divided for the church age” not of WORKS”, it is the gift of God”.Our apostle Paul says in Romans 2:16 that we will be judged if we have Believed his Gospel,Acts 13:38-39 when our apostle Paul starts preaching salvation to those of us Gentiles in the church age of Faith alone by Believing The Gospel of Jesus Christ.2 Timothy 2:25” Rightly Divide the word of truth”.James 2:26” Faith without works is dead”, James 1:1 ,written to the twelve tribes scattered abroad,( Israel), it doesn’t say ,written to the church scattered abroad.
@Christisrisen41 ,read Matthew 15:24 and then ask yourself, who was Jesus Christ sent to in His earthly ministry, and was He preaching The KINGDOM Gospel to Israel or The Gospel of Jesus Christ to the church.
@Christisrisen41 ,one question, how are we saved today in the church age ,and who's minion salvation are we under today according to Rightly Divided scripture?
@Christisrisen41 ,Not according to Ephesians 2:8-9, your answer explains your blindness to faith alone plainly written in the Bible, you do not have the Holy Spirit inside of you ,therefore no Holy Spirit discernment when reading scripture. Please get saved, the rapture is close
@@stephenmay1982 James: 2:14 What use is it, my brothers, for a man to say that he has faith, if he does nothing? will such a faith give him salvation? 2:15 If a brother or a sister is without clothing and in need of the day's food, 2:16 And one of you says to them, Go in peace, be warm and full of food; but you do not give them the things of which their bodies have need, what profit is there in this? 2:17 Even so faith without works is dead. 2:18 But a man may say, You have faith and I have works; let me see your faith without your works, and I will make my faith clear to you by my works. 2:19 You have the belief that God is one, and you do well: the evil spirits have the same belief, shaking with fear. 2:20 Do you not see, O foolish man, that faith without works is of no use? One example for James 2:19 is Mark 1:24 "Saying, What have we to do with you, Jesus of Nazareth? have you come to put an end to us? I see well who you are, the Holy One of God." John 14:21 "He who has my laws and keeps them, he it is who has love for me: and he who has love for me will be loved by my Father, and I will have love for him and will let myself be seen clearly by him." Titus 1:16 "They say that they have knowledge of God, while by their acts they are turning their backs on him; they are hated by all, hard-hearted, and judged to be without value for any good work." So we clearly need both, but do not fool yourself and think we save us by our works. We show our faith with our works.
