I'm a Chicago Bears fan but I gotta tell ya.....this brought tears to my eyes. I became a "Football" fan in the 70's when "The Steel Curtain" was the best show in town. I tip my hat to these "Pittsburgh Steelers." Thanks for the memories!!!
The other aspect that made this team so special was the era they did it in. The 70's in Pittsburgh were rough and saw the Steel industry die. The Steelers became a source of pride to a town that was falling apart. That's why the huge bond with the fans to this day.
The Steelers team of the 70's was the best ever. Certainly the Cowboys, Raiders, and Dolphins were right up there, but the Steelers were where it was at.
Agree. Only discrepancy i have with that, Miami is and will be the only undefeated team in NFL history. Something the great Steelers teams couldn't do.
I'm a Cleveland Browns fan, but the Steelers of the 70's were the greatest team I have ever seen. I can still name all of the starters. This probably makes no sense, but Jack Lambert is my all time favorite player. He said that he was a Browns fan growing up in Mantua Ohio. Watching the Browns in training camp at Hiram. He said that when the Browns didn't draft him in 1974, he would always take it out on them. He stood by his words.
Born and raised a fan, and I can truly say it has been an honor. I was lucky enough to be a young boy during the 70's, and the Steelers' ride has been the best ride I've ever been on. The amazing thing is how this team is always the same. It was then, and it is now - solid, tough defense with a straight-up running game and high-flying passing. You could almost interchange the players, the generations - and the Steelers are simply Old School -- simply the best !
I live in a great football city...Chicago but I have been a Steeler fan since birth and while I have been ridiculed I have never been let down by my team of choice. Sure the Bears are fun to watch but nobody will ever replace what these players did for me as a young boy and the passion for the game they gave to me as a fan. God blessed us all with this awesome team.
I'm watching this for the 100 plus time because of the passing of the immaculate Franco Harris I'm not a hardcore Steelers fan but I am a hardcore FOOTBALL fan May all those feeling the pain of Franco's passing find comfort ...... Much love to Steelers fans everywhere
...So magical growing up as a Pgh kid in the 70's & watching the Steelers. We were watching a dynasty & just expected it as the norm. Thank you to all the Steelers greats that made that such a FUN time!...RIP Franco!
This is a great organization. I am so proud to be a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. This has been my team since the mid 60s. To have had the opportunity to watch this whole wonderful legacy unfold right before my eyes has been a joy that words cannot describe. This is MY team in MY town, not someone else's in some other town. This team is in my blood. I love them so much.
My wife and daughter went to a steeler game this year and Jack Ham greeted them and many other fans, patiently posing for pictures. He made them feel so welcome. What a man. He and Lambert together with what ever 3rd linebacker to join them: Russel, Cole, Winston, et al
I was born in Western Pennsylvania. I love the Pittsburgh Steelers and if I was born any place in our country you dam well better believe I'd be a Pittsburgh Steelers Fan
I was born in Mexico City, I´ve been Steelers fan for 46 years now; and if I was born any place in our Universe, you damn well better believe I´d be a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Gives me the chills to hear “Here We Go Steelers Here We Go” over and over again!! I can’t wait to be in Pittsburgh cheering that with other Steelers fans! Living in Houston not much people are fond of the Steelers cause of us breaking the hearts of Oilers fans or it being Cowboys fans! But Steeler Nation is everywhere and with the Steelers fans I do meet I take great pride in being a fan of such an awesome organization!! Here We Go Steelers Here We Go!
THANK YOU FOR THIS....TRULY DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS IF YOU ARE A STEELER FAN.....THESE GUYS WERE NOT JUST SOME OF THE GREATEST PLAYERS OF ALL TIME,, BUT ALSO SOME OF THE CLASSIEST GUYS IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL.
I'm so glad to be a Steelers fan! The only thing that could make it better is having L C Greenwood (RIP) and Donnie Shell join their team members in Canton.
Another name from that team who should be in Canton too is Jon Kolb. Sadly he probably will never get considered, but this man spent 13 years protecting Terry's blindside and opening holes for Franco to run through.
David Reynolds the 70's Steeler offensive line is the most underrated unit in NFL history (outside of Mike Webster) Gerry Mullins and Ray Pinney were outstanding as well as John Kolb.
Of course that entire line was underrated and that is a crime. How did the hall voters think Terry had time in the pocket and Franco was able to run the ball as well as he did?
& I am the other way around lol, I am a diehard Steelers fan & I bleed black & gold but I have a ton of respect for yinz, one of a few teams I have respect for, but thanks for the respect to bad others aint like you
I bleed black and gold!!! I can't tell you how proud I'am to be a Steelers fan. The greatest football team of all time!!!! Here we go Steelers, here we go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I remember them, as a child the economy was kind of hard on us all but we always had the Steelers on Sunday. They helped us forget about our troubles and brought Pride not just to the city of Pittsburgh but to all the towns surrounding the Steel City I am proud to be a Pittsburgh Steeler fan we are the greatest fans in all sports
I grew up in So. Cal a Rams fan, but Pittsburgh was always a very close second for me because they were so damn good and didn't have that air of arrogance like Dallas did.
Oh, am I proud of the people here and what they did for Pittsburgh in the '70's, but what they're doing for America NOW with these beautiful, inspiring speeches epitomizing being your best always, the value of Teamwork, and being grateful for the opportunities given. THIS is Dignity, Class, the BEST! Congratulations to the STEELERS then and now. Go, Pittsburgh! "Here we go, Steelers, here we go!"
Kevin Greene in...and the Steeler wing in Canton will keep on expanding in the next few years.... shoe-ins: Polamalu, Ward, Big Ben, coach Cowher good possibility: Faneca, Shell, Greenwood
jack deez Yeah. It will be a long wait. The round he was drafted in doesn't matter in the slightest. It took Cris Carter 6 tries to get in and he has 100+ more catches than Ward. To say he won't wait is ridiculous.
I'll never forget when I was a kid--walking through North Hills Village (back in the early 80's)... I wasn't much older than 7 years old. My mother and I strolled up to the GNC store, and out in front was this HUGE hulk of a guy. I really didn't know much of the older Steelers, so he wasn't anyone that I recognized. This guy spoke out at me and invited me into the store. Took me towards the back and sat me on one of his knees and just chatted w/ me for a few minutes. He then signed a picture card and I was on my way... Life went on and I moved to Ohio and forgot much of the occasion; other than the man was a former Steeler. I later found that picture card and it was a signed picture of IRON MIKE WEBSTER!! Wow!!
Thank you. As a Steeler fan I am bursting with pride. I get chills every time I watch these clips. I became a fan as a child when this team was the worst. But, they were my hometown team. It has been a joy watching them grow into the great organization they are now. You have had outstanding teams in Houston too. Your current team is one of the best in the NFL.
the team became cultural during the 70s. like dallas and oakland did too. pittsburgh helped epitomize the 70s in regards to football. you also had atari, star wars etc. it was a good decade for all of that.
Every time I watch this it brings a tear to my eyes this was my childhood growing up watching the greatest team of all time the STEELERS of the 70s always and forever
Stood on sidelines working groundcrew 3 rivers stadium for lot yrs some of the greatest times of my life watching Steelers win.Only lived 10 min from there now watch them on internet from Philippines every week!
You guys are right..I was born in 85 and I had tears watching this.. Showed it to my dad and so did he..he said boy!! That was a real football team.. Everyone needs to know that Your In Steelers Country..
I am NOT a Steelers fan, but love & respect the Steelers, players, coach & team of the 70's. I watched them play and developed a lifelong love of football because of that team. Clearly, Art Rooney (& Paul Brown) are the greatest team owners of any professional sports franchise. I was moved to tears as I watched NFL legends who also, were honorable men. They are the greatest example of team & teamwork. Canton is proof of that statement.
Awesome video. Any true diehard Steelers fan that lived in or near Pittsburgh in the 70's and watched this team play cannot view this entire video and keep a dry eye. Impossible!!!
I remember all the "Joe who?" questions, lol The Steelers were UNREAL in the 70s. I remember living in NY and getting the scores during network telecasts here. The Steelers would be losing by 20 points. The next thing you know, the score would show that the Steelers had roared back as usual and won the game. That was routine. I came to expect it. They were awesome. They brought so much happiness to Pittsburgh.
As a kid growing up in Toronto...my dad and my uncles used to take my brother...my cousins and myself down the highway to Cleveland Browns games. I remember they used to go to watch Jim Brown dominate the game. But I remember the second time I went the Browns played the Pittsburgh Steelers and I loved their uniforms...so I became a Steelers fan. My family laughed at me...but that was in 1968.... and year later Chuck Noll took over....and then they drafted Joe Green. The rest is history.
If watching this doesn't give you the chicken skin, then baby, you aren't a true, die-hard, bleed black -n- gold Steelers fan. Every player in that brief 5 minutes wears the title of "Pittsburgh Steeler Legend" and "NFL Hall of Fame Inductee" with class, humility, honor and just that little something extra that certifies you as a Steeler for LIFE. Call it swagger, a stroll, a gleam; call it the air of a champion. A franchise built of the purest excellence and dignity through and through since 1933 - been a fan since '69. And always will be. From Mr. Rooney and his family to Coach Noll - there is no finer decade of dominance. Can't wait 'til we do it again. Steelers Nation. Here We Go!!!!!!! Respect - Jah Bless. D. (the 4th Letter)
THE BEST TEAM EVER!!! No Doubt about it this team Shinned like no other I wasn't born till 1987 and never saw The Steelers win a Super Bowl until my senior year of high school living in Florida most of my life I always got made fun of for being a Steelers Fan when all you got down here are banwagon fans they cheer for whatever team has the best record that year. When I was little meaning 5-9 my dad always taught me about each of those players in that Video, Lambert, Joe Greene, Bradshaw, Jack Ham, Stallworth, Swann, Harris, Blount, Webster, and Chuck Noll and by the time I was 6 or 7 I knew the entire history of the Pittsburgh Steelers and this video when I saw it by the end of it I had tears in my eyes. HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!!
There aren't better fans in professional sports than Pittsburgh Steelers fans and its funny we are a small rust belt city in the hills of Appalacha I dont remember PNC Park selling out very often lots of rumors about the Pirates moving the Penguins had some troubles in the past I dont think we could support an NBA team but the Pittsburgh Steelers will ALWAYS be in our hearts and minds past present and future and when I get to heaven I know in my heart God will be swinging a terrible towel every time a Steelers fan arrives.
At 11 years old, I became a Steelers fan without anyone telling me to be, those uniforms got my attention not long before that the players.Steeler Nation, greatest fans in any sport.
SOME HAVE NONE, MANY HAVE ONE, A FEW HAVE TWO, THREE, LESS HAVE FOUR OR FIVE BUT ONLY ONE HAS SIX!!! LONG LIVE THE GREAT TEAM FROM PITTSBUGH THE STEELERS!!!!!!
There's something otherworldly about the Steelers. Love or hate them, they are what every NFL team aspires to be. I guess if I lived in PA, I would be a member of Steeler nation. Go Texans !
Not just great football players. God knows there are many of them but these guys were all around good men in general. Good team mates. Great contributors to society even after football and NEVER forgot where they came from. Men playing a boys game that didn't treat it as a job but just as a game. That is why they were as good as they were. Other teams also. Cowboys, Raiders, Dolphins, Redskins 49ers......sense the trend? Real men played during those times. That is why they were all great. Chuck Noll hit the nail on the head. Team work. This team saved this city during that time and that bond will never be broken
If u aint been to the hall of fame go there! Its a place a Steeler fan must go to!!!! Ive been there to see many Steelers go in and hope to be there to this year to see Dermonte Dawson and Jack Butler go in. Hope I live long enuff to see Donnie Shell and Greenewood and alot more get in!!! Its a place all true football fans to must see.
Couldn't stand the Steelers and still can't but those were some of the greatest teams to every step on a football field. Art Rooms deserved every bit of success he had with that team.
A lot of times people get caught up in the moment, and look at things with rose colored glasses especially things from long ago, But when you look at the 70s Steelers one thing comes to mind. Perfection. The Standard is the Standard. Could you imagine putting the team from 76 against any team today? There would be no competition.
The Immaculate Reception is often credited with the turn around of the Steelers franchise. I watched it unfold and always felt the turn around began with the play of a rookie rb from Penn St in 1972.
I had the blessing of childhood memories of me and my mother watching greatness ever Sunday back in the seventies. The Steelers Wing won't be complete until Jon Kolb and Donnie Shell can join them in Canton.
there was no better nor will there ever be a better group of guys that will accomplish what these have the most dominating team of football THE PITTSBURGH STEELERS HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO
All Teams in the NFL should memorize EVERY player's name on the Steelers team during this time...It was and will remain ..the Greatest bunch of TALENT yet recorded in a football team!
One of the things that shows how good these 70s Steelers teams were is the competition. Oakland, Dallas, Houston, Miami were all good teams, especially Oakland. Ravens v Steelers has been great, but the Raiders v Steelers was in another dimension. Those were some wild violent games.
The first time i ever heard about the steelers, i was 3 years old. My dad said, son.. this is the greatest team of all time. I haven't missed one game with my dad since that day
The Steelers of the 70s may have been the greatest team ever assembled. By my count, there were 5 hall of famers on the offensive side of the ball and 4 on the defensive side. Not to mention a hall of fame head coach. And think about the other great players not in the hall such as LC Greenwood, Donnie Shell, and Rocky Bleier. What a team!
Thank God I was born in Pittsburgh and grew up in this glorious time the Mighty Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates hands down the Steelers of the 70s where the greatest NFL team of all time
Growing up in Detroit in the 70s I was and still am a lions fan but I also loved the Steelers Ham, Lambert, Rocky he’ll tge whole damn team. Great football teams
Wow, playing, working for and supporting the Steelers during the 70's would have been someting specialon the way the players talk about each other, the coaches and organisation shows
