Mythentheg is a mythical creature in folklores of North-eastern Indias Garo villages, a creature so vicious that, even if it looks at its prey, the prey becomes sick and dies. There are people who claim to have encountered this creature often deep inside the forests.
Also, there are some traditions associated with going in to forest, which people strictly follow, some very practical ones such as always carrying a machete with you, carry handful of rice tied in a piece of cloth, a match box or lighter.
Some practices with no apparent practical reason, such as not to allow someone to tap on your shoulders, not to respond to the call ‘oi’ when you are deep inside the forest and cannot see a person calling out at you, apparently the Mythentheng preys on human by calling out ‘oi’ as a bait and when someone responds to it, it locates the person based on sound, as it has a bad eyesight.
