Absolutely gutted about John’s passing. He was the person who got me started collecting Machins and his wonderful voice kept me company so many times while I worked on my stamps. I may have never met him, but he still felt like a friend because he truly was a friend to all in philately.
I learned about Johns passing last week, one year after his death. The previous month I had, like you say, used his voice and videos as "company" while working on my stamps. He had a good voice, and it created a peaceful atmosphere for the stamp collecting. I was saddened to hear of his death, which was far too early. I would also like to thank @tedtalksstamps for the tribute video. I will use your channel as my new "collecting companion" now, Ted.
Thank you, Ted, for such a wonderful tribute to one of our philatelic family members. John will be missed; it is people like you and him that make this hobby so wonderful.
His channel was one of my favorites. I really didn’t want to believe it when I heard he is gone. My sincere condolences to everyone in his life, he seemed like a wonderful guy.
Thank you for putting this video together. I found John’s channel a few months ago and would get excited each time a notification popped up on my phone announcing that he posted a new video. He will be missed.
Thank you for this tribute to John, Ted. It is inspiring to see how the online community connected so well with John and his channel. He created such a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy his passion alongside him. We are all going to miss him. 💔😢
Hi Ted, many thanks for such a lovely tribute to a really charismatic Philatelist. This is really awful news, and although I never knew John, you always felt that you did while watching his videos. He will be sadly missed. Kind regards, Dave
I very much enjoyed John’s channel and looked forward to each episode. A humble, well spoken man who was the same age as myself that I also exchanged stamps with. Such sad news and my heart hurts for his family.
Very sad news... So young... Thank you fo this nice tribute Ted where you talked and showed stamps John liked. No better way to pay homage to a fellow philatelist.
Thank you for this beautiful tribute and sharing more about John with us. He was my age, far to young, but we never know when our last day will be and he shared his knowledge of GB stamps for all of us to remember him by. We all share in this wonderful community’s bond.
Ted, thank you for this tribute to John. He will be greatly missed. Since he started his channel I have had the pleasure of communicating and exchanging stamps with him. His enthusiasm for the hobby was infectious. I, like so many others will remember him always.
Lovely words Ted. A fitting tribute to someone that will be missed. Ive made so many amazing friends through philately, that includes, of course, John Wilson and yourself.
Thank you for your tribute to John, a nice guy that had found an outlet to explore his passion for philately. I had email communication with him and he was so helpful. A real loss to the community and, of course, to his family and friends. RIP 🙏
Thanks for the beautiful tribute, Ted. It was a shock to me when I heard about his death. I was getting a bit worried when he didn't post videos for a while, but it never crossed my mind that it would be so final. I also regarded him as a friend within a relatively short time, and he got me interested in collecting Great Britain stamps. Yes, he is surely missed, but will indeed remain in our memories. I become aware more and more how special the philatelic community are.
