When I was very young, I drove a 1969 Camaro. That car still had its original stock stereo...a Delco AM/FM/8-track. Fandango was one of the few albums that I had on 8-track at the time, so I played it constantly whenever I was driving that car. This song, "Tush" and"Heard It On The X" were favorites. Good times for sure.

ZZ Top - I saw them 4 times in the mid 70's when they came to the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino. On one occasion I was sitting in the middle at stage level. The sound was piercing my ears so I went down and headed behind the seats. Back in the day we could smoke inside and my eyes were burning. The closer i got to the doors my eyes stared burning more and more. Then I saw them. A line of police in riot gear headed to the doors. Tear Gas had been deployed outside.

saw them in 95 or 96 won Tix and the show was on my bday. Spokane cow palace they were the last show ever there it was being torn down in the next couple months. HOLES in the roof and it was pouring rain on sections of the crowd. they never missed a beat. that place was crazy falling apart. it made me think of the blues brothers when they're tearing pieces off the organ that ray Charles was playing. anyway it was my 3rd and last time seeing them. you can't get a better sound or show outta just 3 guys. 3 boxes came down from the what's left of ceiling the fronts blew of the crates "Jesus just left Chicago" into fuzz box voodoo onto a giant treadmill and we were off. I've seen hundreds of shows from the stones at the L.A. colosseum to Madonna in red rocks and everywhere anyone but that night with a building falling down around them was the most amazing show I've ever seen. it was so powerful it was like with every drum beat or guitar strum a block of concrete came down. ssd we lost one of them. I did see billy on tour with fogerty years back just not the same

Billy Gibbons (vocals and Guitar, is one of the great Blues men in the world. He met and toured with "The Jimi Hendrix Experience "in 1967 when Hendrix was on his way to London England. He asked the young 20-year-old Gibbons and Bandmates to be the opening act for him. They (ZZ Topp) did, and a close friendship and guitar brotherhood was formed between Billy Gibbons, and Jimi Hendrix. Unfortunately, we know Jimi passed a couple of years later. But these two were great guitarists and good buddies, at least for a few years until Jimi died.

Great ZZ Top and Stevie Ray Vaughan story: In the late 70's Stevie was was starting to make noise in the Texas area and ZZ Top was playing a gig in Austin and needed an opener. Their manager had heard of an up an up and Coming Stevie Ray Vaughan so he booked him, sight unseen. 10 minutes into Stevie's set Billy Gibbons walked up to his manager and said "If you EVER book someone like that to open for us again you're f**king fired." ……oh what sweet memories….. “ZZ TOP” was always playing at the house parties (late 70’s) in the background. “Tres Hombres” “Fandango” “Degüello” …this song was always a house favorite 🔥🎸❤️ side note: No Spotify back then 😂 we had a designated Vinyl flipper who was in charge of the music. Good times ❤

I've been listening to ZZ Top since 1975. Still one of my top five bands. So many great songs.

One of my favorite ZZ Top songs. I love hearing Billy play the blues. That was him singing on that to Jay. There's a lot of great songs off that Fandango album. Nasty Dogs & Funky Kings, Heard It On The X are both great tunes. But for something more like Blue Jean Blues. A Fool For Your Stockings from the Deguello album is awesome.

ZZ-Top is the band that turned blues into party music. "Brown Sugar", "Just Got Paid", "Tube Snake Boogie", and "I Gotsta Get Paid" are fantastic rockin' blues numbers from them!

Joe Satriani is known as an incredible guitarist who was sought out for guitar lessons by the likes of Kirk Hammet, Steve Vai, Larry LaLonde, and Alex Skolnick to name just a few. I read an interview of his in a guitar magazine in the early 90s where he was asked what advice he would offer new guitar players who wanted to learn how to write and play great guitar solos. He basically said that the first thing they should do is to go deep dive ZZ Top and learn to play as many rhythm and lead parts as they could because Billy Gibbons has it all.

On another note ZZ Top that Southern, Texas, Bluesy sound that never gets old. Jay. Mr. Guitar guy there. If you haven't heard by now Billy Gibbons was the favorite guitarist if Jimi Hendrix.

I was at the concert in New Orleans where the live side of this album was recorded. I was 14 and it was my first rock concert. I think the ticket was $3!

Loved it! Just noticed Amber's t-shirt! I once heard that Jimmy Hendrix's favorite guitar player was one of the guys in ZZ Top. Y'all have got to do their "Women Go Crazy About A Sharp Dressed Man"!!!

I always found it amusing that the only one without a beard is the drummer whose name is Frank Beard. But definitely the best three man band ever.
