A Video for Shy People, Inspired by Fluttershy 

I honestly think that FlutterShy as a character is really misunderstood by people who don’t 100% understand the struggles of being shy, introverted, or even socially anxious. As someone who has social anxiety I can truthfully say that, each FlutterShy centered episode has a different meaning behind it. In -DragonShy, it’s to get over your fears and be brave when others need it. -Hurricane FlutterShy’s lesson was to defy the low expectations of others, and empower yourself just by believing in your abilities as well as, doing your best. -And the episode with Iron Will. Stand up for yourself. You deserve better and you shouldn’t be afraid to want better. And that there is a clear line between being assertive and being a jerk. People don’t “just stop being shy” because it’s not that simple. There’s layers. We have to learn different lessons for different reasons. Being assertive, confident, and brave aren’t completely the same. People who lack assertiveness tend to see themselves as a burden. Those who struggle to conquer their fears tend to feel weak and helpless. And people who have next to no confidence could be either hurt by bullying or just lack social skills entirely. Sure. Those things definitely have a lot of in common. But there’s still differences between each of them.

Fluttershy had _the_ best character arc out of all the Mane 6 by the end of the show.

Fluttershy is definitely the one I can relate to most and like you mentioned she helps show that we shy people can learn to be assertive.

Even I can relate to Fluttershy when it comes to being shy. But I have been slowly improving. And after watching this, it reminds me of Miles Prower and learning to Believe in Yourself

I'm very socially awkward and don't really have self confidence anymore because most of my peers have never taken me seriously. I slip up socially? People laugh. I make a mistake? People laugh. I'm in distress? People ALWAYS laugh! It's not just laughing either. I've heard the things they say behind my back and I know that if I ever confront them I'll just be laughed at again and humiliated because people think my suffering is funny. I wish I were making this all up. It's why I barely talk to anyone outside of family and friends anymore. I don't want to become a target for bullying again. It just feels too risky to express myself, especially considering my peers haven't gotten better at all and dare I say have only gotten meaner.

It isn't easy when you are the shy one, and it's worse when people don't want to understand since they think shy people are being rude, being labeled as snobs. I never experienced it, but I do know that there are those who encountered this kind of problem.

The part where she felt like everyone was staring at her and laughing at her is SO relatable. It's a problem I've been having for pretty much my entire life. Sometimes it's a struggle to just walk down the street and it amplifies by a hundred when you have to do something important in front of others. Makes it super hard to just focus at the task instead of other people's opinions

I relate to fluttershy, and I like how her character development shows that overcoming shyness or insecurity isn’t a fast or a simple change but something that takes effort and time, just like in the real world.

Even as a kid, I loved her because we're the same, and until now. Her personality and the daily things she loves to do also reflect what I am. 💚

It honestly took me a long time to realize that Fluttershy is a really good character. I honestly didn't see her as an interesting character and I felt no relation with her. I'm not a really shy person but I'm also not that outgoing at the same time. I found it kind of stupid that she used to be scared of everything and can't even introduce herself infront of 1 pony in season 1. One day my friend told me she liked my little pony and her favorite character was Fluttershy and my friend was a very shy person so my immediate thought was just bc she was shy just like her. But she told me so much about how she related to her so much and that finally made me realize that she honestly is a really good character. My favorite pony that I relate to the most is Rarity and it always has been and Fluttershy is still not my Top 10 favorite pony but I have started liking her as a character and how much potential she has. :D

Is it just me or nearly almost every episode flutter shy is the main character in is about her trying to be less shy or be her true self, or just speak up, and other wise she’s just in those typical episodes where Twilight magic map table sends her off on an adventure or something.

I can relate to Fluttershy a lot, as someone with not much confidence and an introvert. I was never good with having the spot light on me with anything. I would always observe and be quite, if meeting people. I still struggle in crowds and if there’s lots of people, I find it awkward talking to anyone. I have a big heart for music and love performing, I only play and sing on my own. Want to accomplish my dream singing in front of a crowd. I always worry if people will judge and make fun of me. I did a FdA degree in music, I had to perform in front of people. Suffering from stage fright was hard for me, I could relate to the episode of Fluttershy in Filli Vanilli. I always watch that episode as I feel the same as Fluttershy and the whole MLP episodes help me with my anxieties and depression. Fluttershy is making me feel I can achieve my goals and do my music.

I find a lot of comfort in mlp as a whole but especially in fluttershy. Seeing that a person that is shy can still have friends that love and accept her is giving me hope that some day I will find friends as well.

Definitely my favorite character growing up and still my favorite character of all time to this day

I used to get called Fluttershy by my mother everytime she sees My Little Poney in the TV. And honestly she's not wrong.

I think im a mixture between pinkie and fluttershy. Depends on the situation im in.

As someone who is More of the "Outgoing" type I still get shy and nervous around new people Heck it took me a long time to get to the place im at now But I believe That if your shy or outgoing in going to still be your friend in the words of my Shy best friend "The Extrovert Takes the Introvert and adopt them" Be yourself everyday Fam 😊

Every time she had a meltdown, seeing how she could have all her frustrations when she got missunderstood/ignored/mistreated get the best of her and still find her footing was so inspiring When I let my emotions (mainly frustration and sadness) out I used to have so much backlash, specially because "you are a man" that it was fascinating seeing her do this "wrong thing" and still be able to go back to normal and being accepted without even mockery or harassment from those around her NGL, sometime it made some times wish I was a girl just so I wouldn't get punished for having those emotions, although nowadays I understand that wouldn't have really been much better

I LOVE her song ‘So Much More To Me’ from Equestria Girls. It’s such a banger and really describes how I feel about myself, and how I relate to her, in a positive way

My shyness levels vary. I'm not sure I can even be counted as shy since I am impulsive and love talking to people. It depends on the situation and some other variables.

It Ain't Easy Being Breezie is another good one as it deals with the difficulty of expressing tough love, and how it can lead to one being walked all over, but it can be necessary sometimes. I do really like Fluttershy Leans In, as although it's often criticized for Fluttershy not learning anything in the episode, I would argue that it's still a decent episode, as it shows the culmination of how far she has come since earlier seasons.

Filly Vinilli definately inspired me years ago! Being on a stage to preform was super scary for me (still is, thanks elementray school...), but while my brother was auditioning for a play, I decided, despite how scared I was, that I wanted to audition, too. Acting is fun but I never really got over my nerves of preforming in front of people. I'm not the best acter but I really wanted to try. I happened to get a small part, but I didn't care, I did it! I wouldn't want to do it again but I got out their and did my best, remembering my lines and not being intimadated by the audiance (it was a small play, so a small crowd, but still, it was a crowd.) I guess, in a way, Hurricane fluttershy helped, too. That's one of my favorite episodes. I'm so thankful for Fluttershy. I never really had a character I could relate to until she came along. I love animals and jump at loud noises....and also talk really quietly. I have trouble identifying what a "normal" speaking voice is vs my own voice, thinking that I'm bing too loud at times when it's just my sensitive ears picking up my "louder" vocals lol

I agree with this so much, growing up I really loved watching mlp because each of the mane 6 had personalities that reminded me of my own, flutter shy reminded me that yeah it’s good to be kind but it’s also okay to stand up for yourself.

Hey everyone, just curious, as a fellow shy person, do you ever feel that even when your asserting yourself or talking about why you shy it seems your peers never take you seriously? I've tried to open up to people about my shyness and be more assertive in instances where people make me uncomfortable, I hold eye contact, I speak clearly, and I make sure I am heard, yet some people just genuinely brush off whatever it is I have to say! Does anyone have advice on how to get people to take you more seriously? To clarify: I want to be more assertive but I don't want to come off as rude. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

Fluttershy when she insults her friends’ entire way of life: “oh no Iron Will is bad” Rainbow Dash when she doesn’t want to train cheerleaders: “Yeah Twilight did nothing wrong what a funny lesson, you selfish jerk Dash” Weird. This was a cool video but I always hated the focus on AJ, Rainbow, and Rarity’s selfish personalities. It came up a lot, especially for Dash.

Fluttershy is my favorite character in the show. I struggle with being assertive, and am a bit shy too. Anxiety doesn’t help. Anywau, she’s my favorite character because she shows it’s ok to be shy, but not be afraid to grow! When I was younger I really did not like Fluttershy but I realised later (funnily near the end of mlp) it was because I related to her too much and I didn't like myself. I loved wildlife (now doing a degree in animal conservation science) and got bullied in P.E because I couldn't run as fast as everyone else because of hypermobility. I also loved singing but I was terrified. The issue was the me on my own was a lot different. When mlp finished it was when I just finished secondary school, I'd learned. it felt alongside fluttershy. Then I thought that's it, im never going to find another character I relate to now through college. And then just to remind me of the improvement but still hating this character when I just saw them was Blitzø from Helluva boss, and yes the two seem not similar in any way because one is an imp from hell and the other one is part of the mane 6. I love to goof around but when I was younger I was too afraid to do it, my terrible self esteem is still a work in progress. As even though my ability at talking to others got better with being myself, my self esteem was still horrific. So yeah funny story that happened just after. So yeah it's a work in progress, I'm hoping to find a character who sits nicely in the middle, who loves animals, cares a lot, jokes around and does not have crippling self esteem causing them to fear their own relationships. But maybe you guys know one.

I can definitely relate to fluttershy especially with the singing As a child I used to sing all the time without a care in the world But one day in elementary school I had to sing in a quire and just the pure fear of people looking at me scared the crap out of me So much so that I stopped singing Now recently I’ve been wanting to get back into singing heck I even wrote a song But I just don’t like knowing that other people in my house will hear me sing I live with my parents and they don’t have a problem with hearing me sing in fact they love it But for some reason I just can’t muster up the courage to just sing out of the blue I have to close my door in order to sing I have sang in front of a close friend before and she loved it And I sang in a few discord calls with some friends of mine without a problem It’s just the face to face thing that scares me So if anyone knows what I can do to get over this childhood fear then feel free to help me Because I wanna sing I wanna make my own music
