I visited England few years back and i dont recall seeing anything like this going on. Imagine having the honor of being in the prestigious Royal Guard only to be treated as photo props for rude tourists and have your highly trained horse petted all day as if in a petting zoo. What's really upsetting is people putting their hands in horses face as if to feed, and who knows if they really arent giving that horse something. People have no boundries or couth to know any better, obviously, and perhaps its time barriers put in place.

They love to tease the horse by offering an empty hand and then they get upset that the horses ends up bitting them its the same with any animal the more you tease the anger builds then they bite or kick out in frustration and the animal is called dangerous

wow. I hope that lady realises hou rare it is to see both the guards and horse in one pose. How great was that guard to turn for her pic. They usually have thier backs turned while doing their duty. Was a nice thing to see.. Proud to be british moment for me. You must feel great capturing that moment regardless of rest of video.

It is the same guard. He also is the one that takes a step or leans closer to get a better photo with kids and those with different abilities. He is also the one that gave the horse on duty a kiss one day. He shows kindess while he also can give the most scathing stare when an adult is acting foolish near him.

He had no choice but to stand there while they invaded his space . He was on DUTY and not able to leave his post. He was WORKING not there for photos .PLEASE show some respect

@@brendawest4078this is in reply to all who have said “he had to he couldn’t move” If you watch it a few times you can see he actually turned forward and waited for the photo. He didn’t need to face away from the horse and the guards don’t normally stand still immediately by the horse the way he did. They look the horse and guard over, chat if necessary facing them both and then March off. Therefore he was actually being very nice when he didn’t need or have to. I would imagine this is the only photo op of its kind.

I believe that the "attraction" of photos with the horse and guard should be discontinued! The majority of these people (tourists) are clueless! Some of them are a nuisance Maybe UK could get an animatronic statue for each of the horse-guard boxes and roll it out ... Sort of like at Disneyland.

for those wondering why the horses are always so "friendly" to the guards or police who come up to them....well, it is because these folks are in the stables on a regular basis and they carry CARROTS! these people are basically "pez" dispensers for these horses, when the horse sees them, they instantly relax and are distracted from whatever was the problem and focus on the new person who just MIGHT be carrying a snack! works a charm.

But at a guess, if Joe Bloggs wandered up, carrot in hand, the rider might have something to say about that... self preservation really - the things some people think are good for animals is quite alarming. And I don't think I'd put myself in a position where a horse might not be able to see me properly and then touch it...That's a very experienced horse IMO 🙂

It was rude of her her to sneak up like that without asking permission.I have seen people yelled at for that. The guard was a gentleman to stand there as he didn't have to . The others should have been more respectful of a serving soldier.

“Oh, you’re going to come up here while I’m checking with the mounted guard, then you must want me in your photo. Cheese.” Some of those tourists were way too close but I did hear some thank yous. Why would you think it’s ok to put your arm round a guard. He’s not a character in a theme park, show some respect for his position and his personal space.

Some people on here need to chill out..These Guards have the permission from the Queen/King for the public to have their pic taken and pet the horses. They should not touch the guard or lean up against them, or touch the reins or bit. The guard standing there expects to have his pic taken just like the others. Many of you seem to think that the public are behaving badly. I knew a Queens guard..It is part of their job. Yes they are also working but, to include the public is also good for the Monarchy...Why do you think that there is no sign on the wall telling the public not to take pics or pet the horses?

While the kindness and tolerance of the royal guard towards the tourists can be seen, on the side of the tourists there is the rudeness and exploitation of tolerance towards the royal guard. Instead of waiting for the check to be completed, they rudely and unacceptably approach the guards. Something similar is done to the presidential guard of Greece by rude tourists

It's not the first time this guard poses with the tourists. He always does it, actually. At first i found it nice of him, but now i more often think , like in this case, 1:56 "what the hell is he doing"? It's just another effective way to reinforce the perception in the public that this is Disneyland put up ONLY for them and those are not real servicemen but just paid reenactments actors. It should be an exception rather than the rule. Btw, i'm always impressed how massive is that cop: everybody else around him look always like midgets.

@@debbiehollis5711 they are ceremonial guards. In no part of the world ceremonial guards exist for the public amusement. Maybe in England it's different and they are perpetuating some traditions ALSO for the public amusement (or better said, knowledge) - f.e. the 4 o'clock parade - but still they are not and should not act like Disneyland personnel, far from that. I believe that those who think like you, that this is just a show for the tourists, cannot grasp what the military it's all about in reality: an organization of a vast number of different tasks and jobs, just that. The ceremonial guards are simply one of those variegated tasks of the military. They were there before and will be still there independently of mass tourism.

Why are they called “Royal Kings Guards” on here? There is no such regiment in the British Army. The mounted troops are The Household Cavalry and made up of more than one regiment. They don’t guard any royal palaces and are only called the Sovereigns’ Escort when they follow a carriage, or mounted sovereign. The guards shown on these videos are guarding a barracks, offices and a stables. At least have the decency to be truthful about who and what they are. 😡
