For reading comprehension ideas: get the children to split into group and make a short scene of what happened in the story. It allows the children to work on public speaking confidence and helps them brainstorm and develop the themes present in the story. Plus it’s fun and allows the children to support one another and make friends.
Such a fab video! I’m trying to gain the confidence to go back into teaching Primary. I graduated a few years ago, did a bit of supply work, but then I lost my confidence and haven’t gone back since. Thanks for the video xx
It's been a crazy couple or years so don't be too hard on yourself! Perhaps start supply teaching first to get back into it? I recommend having your first class in KS1- they think you can do everything so it's great to increase your confidence 😂
I’m going to be doing work experience as of January so watching some videos just to kind of see what to expect, I’ll be in with year r - year 2 , can’t wait and great video (::
Whenever I talk to someone about doing a pgce, including teachers, they tell me to run a mile because it is such a stressful and miserable job. It is very soul destroying. Also, can you also teach in college with a primary qts? Thank you. Cool video
Teaching has the potential to be like that if you let it, I definitely did too many hours and was constantly trying to do extra but I've now learnt to find a balance and it's amazing! I'm not sure about teaching in collage though, I'm sure you would have to get a full degree in a subject that you would want to teach then an extra year doing a PGCE? I'd definitely research that though!
The most common way would to either do a 3 year primary education degree at university or another degree plus a years PGCE afterwards! You can also look at the option of SCITT training ( school centred initial teacher training). Hope this helps and good luck! X
Im a year 11 student studying child development and for next year im thinking of taking a 0-8 childcare course that is the equivalent to 3 a levels and that would allow me to work in a nursery but im also think i might want to do primary instead so i was wonder what qualifications you have and what i would need ?
Hello, how exciting! I took a 3 year Ba(hons) Primary Education degree with QTS. Perhaps go into the UCAS website/ University websites and check the entry requirements? There is also a SCITT route which is school centred initial teacher training that you could look into?
Hello🥰 Do you think an international student can have the chance to become a primary teacher in the uk please let me know your opinion sinc I'm not familiar with the country
Hello! I'm a new subscriber! I am a primary school teacher in Nigeria so I would like to come to England to teach as an overseas qualified teacher, I have started applying for jobs for September resumption but I will like to know if you can refer me to a school that sponsors. I'll be glad if you can be of help. Thank you!
As long as you do well in your English and Maths then it's fairy flexible! I personally did a range of subjects to keep my own subject knowledge up and they were my favourite! Definitely choose what you enjoy and are best at!
