I’m from Houston and I’ve been eating Tex-Mex all my life. You are absolutely right! Frying the corn tortillas is absolutely worth it! Looks delicious! You pronounced Arroz con pollo perfectly!
When I add spices, I have to separate the ones used from ones not used yet on the counter. It really helps me see what I have already used. Works great!
Thank you Amber, I will be making the Mexican lasagna (with my keto tortillas) this week. It truly looks yummy. So many of your recipes can be transform low carb, I love them. Have a blessed week in the Lord. 💙🕊🙏✝️🙏🕊💙 Nicole
We are a potato loving family as well! And I am still in love with the potato roses that you taught us how to make and I took a picture of them one time that I told you about when they came out really good. Well at our Bible class I happened to show them to my buddy to my left and she was so impressed she turned around and said to our friend behind us to look at these potatoes she made and my picture made the rounds! Such fun and so glad they enjoyed the picture and now they want me to show up with the real thing! Thank you for the recipe! So easy, so good!
FYI just a tip, Fiesta brand Pinto Bean Seasoning has a lot of those spices you used for Mexican casserole all in one. I started using it for my ground beef meal and it was much easier than doing the different little jars of spices. However, it doesn’t have all the spices that you added to your meal. But I bought it originally to add to my pinto beans that I cook once a week and what a great flavor, it makes.
I need to be better about meal planning to budget more appropriately!! Thank you for showing us how you do it. I make a similar Mexican casserole; however, I use tortilla chips and add enchilada sauce and cream cheese to the meat, bean, and tomato mixture 😋 it's one of our favorite dishes!!
❤ I purchased the cheese grater - LOVE IT!!! It just arrived and I have prepped grated cheeses, made bread crumbs, sliced carrots and radishes, and shredded potatoes for lackeys- easy peas. ❤ You are so inspiring!
I specifically buy the rotisserie chicken just for my chicken & dumplings. I roll out my dumplings. Get my chicken from Sam's Club. I have used the Grand biscuits in a dumplings recipe, but I rolled out each biscuit and cut it into strips like my rolled out dumplings dough. Hubby thought it was OK. I thought it was good, but love my original rolled dumplings. I'll have to give these a try too.
I love your honesty when you admit that you forget or substitute an item (including being honest that an ingredient spoiled). This is life! I'm very excited to try the Mexican lasagna and Arroz con Pollo. Thanks for mentioning the flour tortillas because that's what I have at home. I'll get corn for this recipe.
Love the idea of saving all the recipes you use. I do the same thing, only with my Notes app on my laptop, and I have the recipes separated into different headings/categories
Hi Amber - I joined your channel early on. I’ve enjoyed your videos and also how you end some videos with a Bible verse. We all know part of playing a RU-vid video involves a decision to monetize or not. If someone wants to watch your video - the video will play and typically interrupt mid-stream with one short ad. I get that. Today’s video had two unskippable ads early on.
Really?? That stinks. Unfortunately I don't really have too much control over the actual ads that are played. I do have a setting turned on making sure they aren't inappropriate but there isn't a lot of control beyond that.
Amazing video. I love ideas for meal planning and these recipes are using simple ingredients, yet it feels decadent. Arroz com polo instead of peas or capers, you could use pigeon peas, which are cheaper than capers, and have the same type texture. We don’t like peas in our house, but we do love pigeon peas. They’re in a beanie family, which gives you more protein. Great recipes.❤ Thank you.
Loved this video Amber, the recipes were amazing. I can't wait to try the arroz con pollo and that Mexican Lasagne, I already make my own Med sheet pan meal, I love adding chorizo to it. Great recipes, we prefer chicken chasseur to coq au vin bit its still good (not for me, I'm the chicken hater lol). Thank you for sharing xxx
I just came across a video and recipe and immediately thought of you. Byron Talbot has a video on here with the recipe warm potato salad with a chimichurri vinaigrette. Just thought I'd pass it along to you and see if you're interested due to your chimichurri love. You ofcourse will tweak it with your Amber glamour I'm sure. 😁
I've found I have to keep a notepad hanging on my refrigerator to write a staple on it as soon as I pull out my spare. I have always hated to shop, for anything! I can't do my own shopping anymore so I make the lists up comparing the sales & digital coupons at the 3 stores in my town, being very specific & my son does the legwork. He doesn't drive so I take him from store to store & sit in the car with my dog & a book. He's good about calling me before he picks up anything off list. I worked for an in-store bakery years ago so I've taught him about the way they push impulse buying. He still tries but knows he has to ask before picking anything up! Your verse today was included in the sermon this morning. I have a feeling God may be telling me something!
@@FeedingtheByrds My son never moved out after graduating (2020 delays at best) to stay here as my caregiver. I'd prefer he went to college & got into the career he planned but am very concerned about living alone. I'm trusting it is God's plan.
When I have leftover produce I make a Whatever's-In-The Fridge-Hotdish or a We're-Trying-Something-New-Pasta or a We-Needed-More-Variety-Anyways-Pizza 🤪
Honey I am almost 66 yrs old and I do the cooking and enjoy going to the store for exercise and yes I follow my list to a tee and impulse buy only once a month it works for me I just don’t like people shopping for me but I understand online will save too!!! And I enjoy the weird people I see tickles me!!!!! Lol😊
I found you today. I’m a subscriber. It’s so true as many have commented, you’re like a girlfriend. You have a wonderful personality and you’re so down to earth. Loved every recipe
Of course!! We either get it from Sam's Club or if we think ahead, we order it in our Good Chop Box. Use code BYRDS120 to get $120 off across your first 4 boxes of Good Chop at bit.ly/3R3Z5jo
I have an electric shredder and wonder if it will work as well-as your manual shredder shredding cheese. I am a bit nervous to try it in case it gets gummed up.
I can't. Around lunch every day I think about what we might want for dinner, pull meat out of the freezer and decide later what I'm going to make with it. I'm totally not a planner, never have been, can't be. We go with what God has planned and sometimes He takes us a different direction and the meat pulled gets cooked the next day.
