I just love the Wednesday Walkabouts! It is nice to see things as a "work in progress," as opposed to a perfectly manicured space. That is one of the many things that attracted me to your channel. Thank you for being you! Hi, Stewart! I saw the wave! The shot of Linda with the gorgeous snowballs on the left of the screen was beautiful!
OMG... I too love the decay and history of that gorgeous awning just the way it is. I use to go to Filoli mansion here in California at Christmas and take a bag to collect the fallen branches with the lichens on them. Love that look. Nature from sprout, to bloom, to fade , to decay is all beautiful to me.
Outfit of the day, love the hat! Gave you a light shade over your face and was very becoming. Absolutely fun with the boots and blouse. Now the garden is so restful today. The changing of the guard with the blooms are so pleasant on the eye.
I have spent too much time wandering my yard to find a tool, so I use my shallow lightweight wheelbarrow and put a selection of things in it that I know I’ll use in a day and wheel it around with me. Makes cleanup easier too.
I love that surprise gourd! It can grow all over that fence behind it! I've got gourds planted by the chicken yard fence this spring. The birdhouse gourd I planted last had lovely white flowers that came out in the evening. Do keep showing us your gourd from time to time so I can see what those blooms are like!
Love everything about your garden Linda. It's been a rainy afternoon here in Trinidad.I was going to remove my Rangoon creeper plant but will do it another day. Happy gardening everyone.
Fantastic tips today Linda 👌 Enjoying your garden from a different perspective than usually is like enjoying a different garden. It's hard to believe how the front has transformed so quickly and beautifully since the "Spring Show" 👏
Love the "varnish" of the awning. New & shiny isn't the only cool look. Hi Stewart. The gardens are lovely. All of your hard work pays off! 💕 Stewart really showed his viburnum.
I love the profusion with informal look. The kind that looks a little bit wild which makes me think that the plants are happy and unrestrained that’s why they are rambunctious 😁. But this is just me and what I like😁. I remember a comment before somewhere about a ‘mulch garden’ and that made me laugh
Hi Linda! I never tire of walking with you through the garden!! All great tips!! I would love to see pictures of your garden when you first moved into your home and how it transformed!! I recently downsized to a much smaller garden and you make me regret it!!! LOL! I love your garden so much!! Thank you for all your gardening and entertaining knowledge... you are so inspiring! Oh and yes Stewart... I caught that little peek of you waving! LOL! I wish both of you a wonderful day! See you again! :)
I thought you looked very cool today Linda.😊 It was so fun walking thru your yard with you. Lots of great tips. Wow the one on using the amaryllis stem and rooting the little rose branch. Thank you for being who you are and sharing with us. Have a wonderful wkd. You too Stewart.😊
I just had to come on here again and say the front yard turn around is outstanding. All the blues and whites are so lush and full. It's hard to perceive how this happens so fast following all the colorful tulips. And Stewart, the wave reflected in the window was so fun.
Your gardens are just so lovely. I am inspired by your “living mulch” concept. I am trying to overcome an invasion of gout weed that a previous owner allowed to come in and now it has taken over every bed. I am not having much luck pulling/digging it out but hoping that I can somehow shade it out by planting other things that may shade it out.
Love the Wednesday walk about, although I'm seeing it Thursday You are the most stylish gardener. You make gardening so much fun... I am excited to get outside...
This year shopping for heirloom tomatoes, ajuga and iris to move around and whatever else I can spread. Not warm enough yet. Zone 5B. Your front AND back yard are beautiful. Gardening is hard work. You're lucky to have help. Missed the favorite plant - mine came from my mother who passed many years ago. I am currently battling invasive squill.
Everything is looking so lovely. Little surprises around the garden. I’m going to plant a boxwood in one of my pots. Love seeing yours. So much inspiration! 💚🌳🌳🌳
Love the lushness of your garden. I also like things densely planted and the term living mulch is wonderful as is shopping the garden. I really began shopping my garden during the pandemic when garden centers were closed and plants were hard to come by. This morning I shopped my garden for Japanese painted ferns and echinacea. Your book and videos have also inspired me to shop my basement and garage and have found all sorts of wonderful containers and other objects to use in my garden.
Beautiful garden! I love the purple, yellow, white and green color palette. It reminded me of your garden tour of Marquette Clay's garden. Beautiful!!!
So glad Stewart zoomed in on your white viburnum in the backyard, that will work perfectly in the front of my driveway. I totally agree with you on the Encore Azaleas, we have several and they're stunning! I got a good chuckle with your Wednesday walk about, and could relate to alot.
The amaryllis stem idea is genius. I will certainly adopt that. And your living mulch point is also great; in my garden (SW UK) wild oregano performs this function. I spent so long weeding it out and then realised how good it looked and just kept it trimmed back. And the fragrance....ahhh!
As gardener to gardener, I appreciate all the labor of love you perform in your beautiful gardens. What a treat to watch such a long, yet beautiful video. I too like to pack my gardens so full that there's no room for weeds.I liked the comment of putting tools for the day in a rolling tote and use as needed then put them all away for next time. I love your ideas too.
I love how full and lush your front yard looks. And I love the different layering of heights and textures. My Gardens over the years have been filled with many perennials that tend to self seed. Overall it has given my home more of a cottage look. In recent years I have been trying to sell in and replace some of the plantings with shrubbery for more ease of gardening as we age. I’m hopeful that in time we will have some thing similar and look to what you’ve got going on.
I love that you left the fallen tree trunk. It is really helpful to many critters in your garden, and it looks so natural. I kept some stumps from a few couple of trees we had to take out. And my grandkids used three of them for a table and chair set. If was so cute. Now they have outgrown them, so I am trying to think of another way to use them. Your gardens are lovely and I so much enjoy a weekly tour. I LOVE the idea of video documentation of my garden. I always take pictures, don't know why I never thought to film.🤔 Starting today that is what I will do as well. Thank you! 🌼🌺🌷🌻
Today I shopped my garden for ground cover... I moved some creeping Jenny and some ajuga. Then I had some spaces to fill so I split host's to use. I also planted a concord grape vine that I propogated from my mom's over 100 year old vine by laying a branch on the ground till it rooted as you demonstrated. I have done this many times and love how those roots grow. Love how your rose did it on it's own! Loved Stewart waving at us too! Hi Stewart.
Great walkabout Linda, good tips. Hi Stewart, made me smile when you waved in the mirror. I like your sense of humour. I would love to see your garden Stewart.
Your gardens look so lovely!!! My garden may be together for Memorial Day. I too have foxgloves and columbine and love those too. I have been buying some annuals and plan to visit more nurseries next week.
Thanks for the wave Stuart! And I share your pain or should I say ‘itch’! Mosquitoes absolutely love me! By the way excellent photography and filming of Linda’s gardens! 🌸🇨🇦
Can't believe how much your garden has grown in a week. Looks enchanting like a story book. Love the view from the log. Thank you Stewart for slowly panning the Snowball Viburnum soaking up all of it's beauty. Linda love your outfit. I don't think a Mounty can pull off the green and yellow boots. Have a great weekend,
I love how your garden has filled in. In my main garden, I unknowingly planted several ground covers and while I like some open space, I’m learning to embrace the filled in look. Thanks for reminding me that it’s a good thing (weed elimination!). 😉
Since I have been watching your channel, I learned how to shop my property. I’ve been finding cedar seedlings and started potting them in terra-cotta pots. I’m starting a topiary garden. Last year I topiary 2 rosemary and over wintered them. Thanks for the ideas!
Personally I love that little awning...for the same reasons you expressed. I also love your 100 YO tree trunk from the ice storm - "nature's sculpture". I learn so much from your Wednesday Walkabouts and look forward to them. Great tips, esp the old amaryllis stems. Love how the entrance to the potager looks!
Lovely as always Linda! My columbines have done great this year too. I need to try some of those drift roses, I have a steep hot dry area that I've struggled with for years. I'm always shopping my garden, I've been dividing like crazy this spring, a whole new garden bed was filled in with mainly divisions from my garden this spring, from hosta to columbines, shasta daisies, irises, cleome, day lilies, daffodils, stone crop and more. I'm using perennial hostas and ferns with a few annual impatiens in my pots on our porch again this year, then in the fall I'll transplant those into the garden. BTW Love seeing the snowball viburnum every video. lol Mine is about half that size and just now coming into bloom.
Ducky thanks for the tip of moss. I have 3 areas that are covered in moss, I want to plant many flowers and will use that moss in my potted plants. Lovely idea
Your yard is looking so lush and green. Love all the flowers starting to bloom! We have Digitalis/Foxglove that grows wild on our property in Washington state. Elk and deer pass thru frequently and they never eat it. Somehow they know it's not good for them. Johnny's Seeds sells Digitalis seeds that bloom the first year. Columbine and Digitalis is a favorite of the hummingbirds.
My first Wednesday walk through. Your garden just gorgeous. Columbine and foxglove are prolific self seeders and a bonus the deer don’t touch. Love the log boarder, I had trees cut down and then used them to boarder my food forest. I love watching the critters sitting on them.
Be careful if your going to hit that awning w/a power washer, it may just fall apart, at the least it will make a huge mess after all your sushing. With your design eye you will be able to pick a new fabric w/a bit of a "weathered vibe", maybe stripes of both your grays? Love your mix of in the ground plantings w/potted plants!
Love your lush and balanced garden. It looks gorgeous and inviting. I prefer garden beds that are layered and full-as long as there’s an open area somewhere in the mix to rest the eye.
My granddaughter and I sat in the grass, taking time "to smell the roses " taking in the beauty of my garden. We are behind you guys and the daffs, creeping phlox. Tulips, bleeding heart, pansies, helebores, hostas emgering are all so pretty and we just sat there and took it all in. The red bub blooming so pretty. The show here, on a much smaller scale, is breath taking and we sat and Iet it Soak in. 5B
Great video today!!! I bought 4 of the autumn Lilly Encore azalea’s just the other day at lowes for 60% off and planted them and they are doing wonderfully!!! I love Encore azalea’s 😆
I love your yard so spring looking, the stalk is a great idea for using it to hold a top heavy flower in a vase. Love your outfit and earrings. I still say Stewart needs a Mic. 🎤
