During Ab 608's 100th centennial rail tour around the South Island operated by Steam Incorporated, the locomotive saw action out of Otago's city of Dunedin during Labour Weekend 2015. This area is home to 608 as the engine worked on the mainline and many branch lines here during its service with the New Zealand Railways. The weekend looked at the locomotive haul excursions up the stunning Taieri Gorge Railway which is now operated by Dunedin Railways and a few shuttles along the Otago harbor and these trains were up to an impressive 13 carriages long. Then its all aboard for the trip north to Oamaru after a great weekend in Dunedin city & Otago. Enjoy the sight of an Ab class steam locomotive wander its way through the Taieri Gorge, powering along the flats of the Otago harbor and struggling up grades as steep as 1 in 50!
