So far abbadon has not died and is riding the best weave of chaos W's since the heresy. You know, with the Rift, the breaching of the webwey and more...
Best part of that line is the start; "You will die as your weakling father died. Soulless. Honourless. Weeping. Ashamed" He knew how much it meant to the sons of horus and now the black legion to be the last of the old guard who remember the crusades, and how important it was the be the sons of horus, and he cursed them all and told no lies when doing so, because that is how the favorite son of the emperor died.
@leandrocastello309 Man's only fighting because his dad wanted to. All his friends are dead. He's surrounded by monsters. Half of them would happily kill him, the other half think he's useful for now. Just killing for the sake of it. Fighting a war he lost ten millenia ago.
“Oh hey we have this objective that your legion would love to do.” “Oh well we got the stuff I wanted to do, they can waste their strength with the rest.” This IS actually how you do stuff with other groups. I got to the top 3, 2nd place for a while of the most powerful faction- i alone in my own faction traded, had only 1 defended planet and so on. When i disappeared to join someone else’s faction… people were making deals go me because my faction was gone because i was the only member. Heck i just threw stuff to other people to deal with other clans and i swear they were wiped pit within a week of me just shipping extra stuff to about 3 people and thanking them.
Because comparatively, they are. Modern day chapters rely on psycho-indoctrination where they implant combat tactics and memories into their neophytes to get them combat ready much faster. This practice started during the Heresy and was instantly considered disgusting by both loyalist and traitor legionnaries for creating "weak" astartes because they hadn't learnt that knowledge in combat. Geneseed has also degraded since the great crusade. Lots of geneseed flaws in modern chapters didn't exist or were rare before. It's also been thousands of years since an astartes was created with geneseed directly from their primarch, instead their geneseed has been extracted from thousands of years of harvesting from other astartes. Hence traitor astartes call these newer narines thinbloods.
@@Fuerto203Gabriel Seth has kind of the same point of view with the Primaris reinforcements of his chapter. He beats the shit out of one of them just to prove actual warriors are born in the battle and not in a lab.
@@lorenzocassaro3054 So the Imperium that would have existed had the horus heresy not happened, would be the exact same as the imperium after the horus heresy? Are you sure?
@@lorenzocassaro3054 If there was no heresy and that is a big If. It is possible the emperor could have created a new better age for humanity. Better than dark age of technology era at the very least. The big problem was that the rebellion broke everything and ultimately removed anyone in position of power with the vision and ability to see and create a positive future for humanity. Instead it devolved into a endless struggle to survive and hold together the Imperium. Personally I think some form of rebellion was always going to happen. Since there were so many disgruntled Primarchs. It's just the number all at once was catastrophic.
Abbadon trying to boast saying that the imperium is weak always makes me chuckle. If it's weak then boy, imagine what one would think about anyone who is failing at taking it for ten thousand years with the back of the most powerful chaos forces in the galaxy.
I mean, 10,000 years isn’t actually that long for a galactic-scale war. Slow and steady. Horus rushed to Terra and that sealed his fate as reinforcements closed around him.
@@harmonlanager2670 That sounds like abbadon trying to excuse himself. "No guys, it's a long term thing, you know. I got my ass handed to me thirteen times by cadia alone because it was totally on my planes. Y-yes, losing a black fortress to destroy cadia was also in my plans, and not a bitch-fit as some will say!"
It’s times like that where it would behoove space marines to be able to cause their power packs to go nuclear and take out the biggest threat to the imperium or maybe teach those assholes about gloating.
Abbadon: "was that act of spiteful defiance enough?" Everyone else: "bro, you're literally noone to talk about spitefulness or meaningless acts of defiance"
@@absolute-focus Arguable. Horus is responsible for the internment of the Emperor on the golden throne, the death of malcador, the creation of the dark mechanicus and the chaos space marines as factions, the death of a loyalist Primarch, and the fall of Magnus and perturabo. In 10 years. Abaddon managed after 10000 years to create the cicatrix maledictum but the Imperium in M41 is arguably in a better position than it was in M40, with the primaris reinforcements, the custodes exodus and the awakening of two loyalist Primarchs. Even if the indomitus crusade fails and Nihilus falls it will fall mostly to necrons, tyrranids and orcs leaving Abaddon with little holdings in real space that will stretch his forces if he wants to grab the resources the Imperium leaves behind. Hell the blood angels survived the devastation of bhaal because Abaddon created the cicatrix and distorted space time enough for Guilliman to save them.
@Comandate7 but Abaddon has to play the long game or if you want the long war with what he has which is a third of what Horus had. The problem you have is most of the lore is from the Imperiums point of view yet the last to major conflicts resulting in the return of 2 loyalist Primaichs and one of them with Primaris reinforcements Abaddon has won.
@@dolomaticus1180 the blacktone fortress is just Mean of Exterminatus #17. Trust me, he damned more planets yeeting it at cadia than keeping it floating in the empty space where the Eye would have closed
@@Keram-io8hv If he still had that Fortress the whole Imperium would be down for the count. Now you got 2 Primarchs running around causing him Chaos...which is fitting :)
The lore is conflicting on this. Sometimes loyal guardsmen and marines have been depicted entering a heaven-like afterlife when they die, other times they just die, other times their souls are claimed by the dark gods
No. The Emperor is no god. Every soul eventually ends up in the warp and gets devoured by Chaos. "The Emperor's protect" is nothing more than propaganda.
GW likes to keep it ambiguos, the official stance is that every soult that gets in the warp is eaten by daemons. But every now and then there is the vague hint that the emperor _is_ something of a god now, in terms of afterlife.
Bad writing. Basically there is an internal conflict with in GW to either make the Emperor a warp god (not the same thing as chaos), make him a chaos god or just keep things as they are. The best for the story IMHO would be making him a warp god
@@absolute-focus I'm gonna sound like a purist or a gatekeeper here, but a lot of people recycling these memes and taking it as gospel have never read a 40k book, codex or whatever first hand which is probably a contributor to it. Obviously its not really a serious issue in the grand scheme of things but still annoys me a lot
After he killed the space marine, a White Scar if I remember correctly, he had a chaos sorcerer find the demon that consumed his souls and bound it to the dead marine’s body. Pure Black Air Force energy.
How is he harmless or a failure when he's split the galaxy in half, plunged half of the Imperium into absolute darkness and has done more to the Imperium than anyone besides Horus and Erebus
@@Auriorium oh, then to do pray tell how DID he exactly acquire 2 black stone fortresses? Or how did he invade Medusa with Perturabo, or acquire his sword?
@theandychrist2599 look and what the loyalist have compared to what Abaddon has to work with then actually think about what you just said. My advise to you. Know your lore before commenting.
@@absolute-focus you mean a falining galactic indastry that they are handycaping with ineficentcy vs the guy with the literal endless resorces of the sea of souls? @aureklanderson4498 a failing galactic industry that has been failing for 10.000 years that no one has been able to put the final nail in it and the guy closest to doing it has to work with..... oh yes the sea of souls which is just as dangerous to the users as the receiver. It take monumental effort to "try" and get it on your side and then there is no guarantee it won't turn on you. You must be new to the lore
Funny coming from the guy who’s father is dead, his father’s soul is dead, his world is dead. Failaddon should be honored by the spit of a true space marine😂
Because at his core he is kind of a boring charackter. He is the most Vanilla named Chaos charackter in the setting and contrary to Horus he doesn't have a somewhat sad backstory for his fall, he is Horus 2.0 without the foundation. For Abaddon to get more epic the writers need to give him way more distinction either by embracing the gods more or rejecting them even harder and still get a big win
The only time I ever found Abaddon an interesting character was in the Fall of Cadia campaign book, when it was described he felt very old. That was the only time Abaddon did not feel like a 2D cardboard character that GW tried to make 'badass' by writing him as an angry and spitefull ass that wins because the narrative always hands him some doomsday weapon out of nowhere, forces that somehow always outnumber the Imperium and do not have any issues with logistics or coherency despite being you know chaos, any victory against him is described as a stalemate at best, or whose accomplishments are retconned to somehow vindicate a complete change to the setting.
@@thewerdnaYou mean that time when a Magnus-level psyker and his strongest warlocks failed to kill him, only barely driving him off when Drach’nyen got too greedy?
@@epicwaba6424 They didn't barely drive him off. They would've barely KILLED him outright...but the Gods bailed him out at the last second. In that specific instance it was literal plot armor, much like how the Emperor saved Rowboat (which at least makes the plot armor even I suppose).
ALL of his wins have always been pure plot armor. He never shows skill. All of his best feats are written exactly like the custodes thing...a two sentence attack and insta kill. That is it. Pure plot forced wins are the only ones he has ever gotten. He has no skill that has ever been SHOWN. He has a special sword because plot. They didn't let someone else have it, it had to be him or else he would be forced to actually fight things properly. He has survived an attack literally no other primarch has (even fully daemonized once insta die to it) yet he coughs up a little blood and bisects the guy who did it. Sigismund's death btw. He stabbed Abaddon and got both hearts. That is an instakill no matter what you are. Daemons and daemon primarchs die that way all the time. Somehow Abaddon coughs up a little blood, bisects Sigismund, then just continues on. No, he should have died forcing someone else to take up leadership. THAT is how that should have went down. The faction is called Chaos, it should be consistently losing leadership and replacing them most often through backstabbing but still.
@@Nempo13 The backstory for Abaddon and drach’nyen is still being written in Black Legion book 3. Also, Eidolon survived getting his head cut off. Space marines can survive some crazy shit. Normally this is used as something to say “woah look how cool the setting is,” but because it’s someone you don’t like it’s a lore oversight. I think the real lore you should be criticizing is that daemon primarchs even need organs to live. THAT’S dumb.
He then trapped the captain's soul in his own corpse ensuring the gods never take it... though it's also now trapped in a corpse that's sitting in a ditch.
@@sirgideonofnir6840 To make him cool they must make him a character first, with weaknesses and struggles. Perturabo became likeable because he was competent - show Abaddon in the same light. Show him exasperated with the Emperor's children for snorting the sherfs he procured for maintenance in a reactor or with the word bearers for sacrificing a conquered hive city to summon a demon. In sort show chaos as chaotic and Abaddon as the only sane man, a man who constantly in every battle has to cope with the temptations of the gods and denies them because of sheer arrogance and pride. Show him in denial that his ideal Imperium is a stillbirth that can never work yet still he has lost too much to let himself get the one thing he always wanted since the siege of Terra- and honorable death in combat. And in the end when his time comes have it be like the rest of his mournival brothers: stabbed in the back (loken), killed in a nowhere world (little Horus) and have his corpse and soul defilled and puppeted to fight for the next warmaster (torgaddon).
"No, But I did it to atleast show that I am more competent in loyalty unlike you and your primarch. Now then, end this and keep biting the hand that made you "special" like your primarch did."
Is there not a point in one of the Warhammer books where a space marine spits in Abaddon’s face only for Abaddon to smile and basically say “did that make you feel better?” Before killing him?
Lowkey devoid of primarchs if you think about it. The black legion was originally Horus’ but since he’s dead and the other demon primarchs don’t do much we pretty much don’t have primarchs that aren’t Angron and he’s practically on cooldown rn idk wtf Mortarion or Perty has been doing recently
@kinguchiha6212 the Black Legion original the Sons of Horus. They are made up of any and all who will join up from any Legion/chapter and follow Abaddons vision. As Abaddon said they are not one of the Emperor's numbered Legions they are there own Legion chosen by themselves with no Primarch. They are the Legion of the long war.
I kinda really hope that one day, either one of the returning primarchs or one of the chaos primarchs just fed up with abadonn's failures just reminds him that he is just a chaos space marine. Even robot gorillaman easily kills him, let alone the lion or angron, or magnus( going with just hilarious bs that a random black legion psyker is stronger than someone who was considered only being behind the emporer in psychoc might) or morty. Homie got his ass weaved by an old man on cadia in fairness.
This is why i always felt both Abaddon and Archaeon are useless clowns. They are written to be these unkillable undivided fully blessed champions of the gods. But everything they achieve is hollow. They are essentially plot devices rather than real characters with real consequences.
2 years for stabbing someone in an attempt to kill them, is insane. Why is the severity of the punishment so heavily based on the success of the crime?! "Oh so youre a murderer, but it says here you're trash, 2 years"
@cn9707 that's actually incorrect. After Saturine when he recovered Abaddon was at the forefront of every major battle on Terra to prove himself as written in Mortis yet Sigismund didn't go after him. So basically Sigismund lied in Black Legion just to try and piss Abaddon off lol.
