@@TheDailyWoo no I still remember driving up and down both those roads and all the little mom and pop gift shops and electronic shops advertising SONY everywhere and the mini putt courses and all the little hotels and motels it was a thing of kitchy goodness
My son was 15 when we last went to Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg area loved the gazillion go carts/ race tracks to choose from ..maybe they should open more of those in this area... Seems like the older kids get left out when theme parks open and not every day of vacation has to be at a Disney parks ...I saying it and then you said there was one there before
Sad to see the decline. I lived and worked on 192 in the early 90's when my kids were young. Lived in ORO at the West end of 192. Thanks for the update. Hope all of these abandoned places don't all turn into nothing but apartments.
My last vacation with my parents and now husband back in 1984. We rented a house in the subdivision across the street from Kmart for 3 weeks. It was nice back then but always wondered how the neighborhood is now. We did a lot of Disney, 192 area things, Orlando and international Dr. The area up and down 192 used to be so hopping. I am amazed in the decline. It is so sad
Walkabout Mini Golf for Occulus is incredible. My favorite is the haunted mansion with the ghost kids that randomly appear. But yeah there’s no substitute for the tangible experience of a well themed mini golf. Loved the ones central FL used to have. Would be great to see them make a comeback.
Adam, I've only played mini golf once in my life and that was decades ago and can't remember where! Really enjoyed your video. I'd love to explore some abandoned places but, probably never ever get to. Thank you for taking me along with you on your adventures!
I always enjoy the 192 stuff. Brings back good memories of all the time I've spent there when vacationing. Thankfully, we quickly realized that there was a lot more to do than just Disney, so we've spent a good bit of time on 192, and International drive enjoying shops, restaurants, and attractions outside of Disney World over the years.
I don’t know why but I can totally see you working at Office Max. I miss that store. Loved going in and walking around. Those were the days when they had competition like the Office Depot and Staples. Now just Staples is left.
I really enjoy the abandoned places videos, especially when they have a connection to you from yesteryear and there are moments of reflection. I’m about the same age so I can relate. I heard news that Google is working on an AI based Maps/ Street View that spans decades. That would be one AI tool I could get behind! Thanks.
It seems like it would be fun to bring a few golf balls and a putter to play a free round at Pirates Cove! Lots of interesting hazards that weren't there before! 😀 ⛳️ 🏌️♂️
I was born and raised 1982 on 192. The things I could tell you would blow your mind!!! Super surprised I have never met you. I used to work with Rick S.
We definitely have noticed all the abandoned places, but as we explore the area it seems like so so many places are being redone to a great new thing. Rare actually. Branson does that but at a much slower pace.
Confirmed. that was a Sonnys! and a good one too!!!! use to eat there once a week! Also! who remembers the water bumper boats at fun n wheels (that were gas powered!) !?!
🌴🌴😎 Damn Adam, I was hoping that U would've taken us in with U in side that Magic Gift shop with U, never been inside there at all. Was curious on the cool stuff they may had. have inside 🙃😉 ah maybe next time ! C U in the next vlog Joe 👍🏼
When I was 11 to 15 we had a place called Al's Golf Dome in Memphis Tennessee. Mini golf, a driving range and go carts. Hot dogs hamburgers fries and played pop radio on loud speakers. A Taco Bell just a few minutes walk. Soft serve ice cream. A treasured memory.😊
Love what you do Adam. It’s wonderful seeing not only the parks but the areas around them. From old Florida to decrepit Florida you bring us there with a dry wit that is almost British in it’s style. So appreciated. Do you think Epic Universe will bring in the interest and money needed to fix up I92? I’m old enough to remember when it was bright and shiny and the trashy part was OBT downtown. So things do change
Thanks again Adam for all you do. There are many of us out here that truly enjoy and appreciate the effort you put in and the content you deliver. Keep up the good stuff my friend.
Morning Adam😎👍📸 like the Gremlin shirt, saw it in theaters in 1984 with my family yep the movie it's 40 years old. So its The neverending story and Karate Kid. Thanks for sharing this what has happened in Kissimmee Florida and hwy 192.
I gotta find the old family photo album from when we went to Disney in (I think) '85. I'm almost positive we went to Fun N Wheels. Did it have batting cages and possibly a couple of those tall, skinny waterslides? The name Fun N Wheels just hits me in the nostalgia feels. Curious about the restaurant that looked like a Sonny's too. Went to Lakeland for work in early '08 and the day we got there we had lunch at a Sonny's on a coworker's insistence. I assume it's a chain? We stayed in a condo somewhere off of 192 in Kissimmee and drove up and down that road every day.
Hey Adam, your videos has been a part of me daily routine for a few years now. Just wanted to say keep up the great work, will always be here for the ride 😊
Adam, did you live in the Caribbean Isle apartments? I think that's where you were pointing. I lived there from 91-93. It used to be nice. And yes, that was a Sonny's back in the day.
When you’re riding in Lil Marge, you always pass where Sharky’s sports bar used to be in that strip mall next to hope thrift. Could you possibly check it out?
Good morning from Waycross GA! I'm so glad you changed your mind about living here. Your video would have Dollar General, Dollar Tree and Walmart instead of the fascinating relics you show from Florida! I love Florida history!
Ha ! Glorified retail title. Just some hand they give you and a buck more an hour to make employees feel good about themselves. Only thing was managing was some paperwork
Sorry Adam, Tampa Jay and Cowbell Max that our Red Sox swept the Rays in the Trop this week. Glad to see you aren't wandering aimlessly thru Disney World looking for answers! Stay strong!
Thank you for taking us down memory lane. This reminds me of your urban adventure vlogs of 10 or so years ago and I'm appreciative. Also, it must be amazing to go back to these places and reflect on how you 'escaped' the retail rat race and can do as you please for a living. You have helped inspire me to live for my dreams through the years. Rant over
Adam the golf place with the boat was great, after one of your other 192 videos, me and Ian (my everything) were remembering this place. Ian passed away on unexpectedly in his sleep on tuesday morning aged only 48. Seeing this alone today after you had triggered our memories of it previously has been quite the gift to me. I can't explain properly but Thank You Woo!
That building with the huge wizard is crazy. Could you imagine what the reaction was like at the building department when they received permit drawings??
You answered your own question on the reason for the shorter signs. Obviously near an airport. I live near CVG airport and the same signage restrictions apply in this area also.
K-Mart another Big Box store Gone!! so many stores have closed, It's Sad...Hopefully if and when the economy takes off, 192, East will be built up again; While 192 West is building up! The Sunset Walk Area, is real nice!!! with The Margaritaville Resort, it's Packed on the Weekends..... 🎶🎶maybe that will be your next tour ??
11:11 ,they leave the lights because of permitting issues, plus its a added bonus of not having to run the underground wiring & electrical systems again as they are grandfathered, the very same thing goes with leaving the giant signs as well, it cost 10's of thousands for permits & erecting a new sign ,its not as restrictive to just change out a existing sign ,just as long as its original infrastructure exists, putting in new lights & new signs from scratch is very cost prohibitive
I spent a few months photographing abandoned houses...hard to find but fun to look for...thank you Adam...I feel connected to you through our shared interests.❤
I'm bummed out Mr woo. I had a job opportunity in Kissimmee that didn't happen. I was looking forward to living in Kissimmee. I wanted to go to old town and food trucks ect. But they have another position in Lakeland so I guess I'm going to Lakeland. Maybe you can do a video about Lakeland.
I am only one person so this is unimportant and it should be .I’ve had enough Florida for ten lifetimes.Ot course I favor So Cal so I am biased but still think you’re a terrific personality.
I remember many years ago. When192 was the only way to get to Disney, when we would drive up the turnpike from South Florida. It was busy and vibrant along 192 back then. It's a shadow of its former self. That does look like a old Sonny's bbq place.
Alway find the abandoned businesses interesting. I live in L.A. and most businesses that closed up are replaced pretty quickly. Property in most cases unless it is some type of probate issue, doesn't stay vacant for long. These places Adam goes to in Florida seem to have been gone for years and it looks like most have had no attention for a long time. I just wonder why so many of the owners don't sell or lease them out. Would be a great improvement to the area. Right now they are just "ERASED FROM EXISTENCE" 😱😱😱
You say the Big Lots was a short lived Publix, but the design of the front of the store looks like a Publix design from the 70’s to early eighties. I’m guessing it was probably there around twenty years. Looking at a map it appears there is a more modern store about a mile away. Not unusual for Publix to move to more modern buildings nearby.
This is how I found your channel back when it first started I was looking for a campground on 192 and you were exploring an old abandoned one but it wasn't the one I was looking for but I was always fascinated with abandoned places ever since I was a little kid and saw this place called water slide World abandoned in Orlando around the same time River Country in Wet n Wild opened
Thank you! I moved to Kissimmee in June of 1991. I lived at Caribbean Isle Apartments, the apartment complex you pointed to, you must of lived at the Polos Apartments. There was know buses, you had to walk every where, if you didn't have a car. Thanks for all the good memories.
In 40 years you will be hobbling along on all these old abandoned properties showing us the new AMAZON warehouses built there…….. Can’t think of anything else that is going to grow in these coming years,,,
Getting arrested would be the last thing I would think would happen to him….., I’m always thinking someone’s going to jump out of one of those shacks and scare the living daylights out of him and ME……🏚️🏚️🏚️
Not sure why but I love this stuff. I always wonder what these places looked like before and why they closed. It’s fascinating watching how nature reclaims these buildings and seeing how they deteriorate. What will this look like in 200, 500, 1000 years? 🤔
