TSA Agent that works in Milwaukee here. Glad to hear that you called us the friendliest TSA you've ever encountered. Can't wait to see you back in Milwaukee
The Recombobulation Area is the area in an airport where passengers can collect themselves after going through security. Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport in Wisconsin is the only airport in the world with "Recombobulation Area" signs, which were created by the airport's retired director, Barry Bateman, in 2008 to add humor to the stressful security process. The signs are located in each of the airport's three terminals
Are you f-ing kidding me?? That pilot sounded PISSED! And I love how he straight up called them out. "Sorry folks, I work with a bunch of idiots!" Good on him. This airline crap is getting so out of hand.
The person de-boarding with you saying “i’m just curious, did we step on the set to GroundHog’s Day” cracked me up. I’m sorry for your travel frustrations but glad you made it home safely.
Maintenance issues are my dreaded thing to deal with as a FA ✈️ because it pretty much turns into hours waiting for a mechanic. When we as crew sit for mechanical issues, we don’t get paid for the time that we have to wait for the mechanic to arrive. General Tip: Let the gate agents rebook your flights. I have seen people huff and puff get frantic, remove them from a flight that was delayed to try and rebook themselves on a different flight than 10 minutes later the original flight that they were on got working again and because they jumped to remove and rebook themselves from the original flight they ended up really delayed in waiting for another flight that they rebooked themselves on. You did the right thing by just waiting. Gait Agents keep communication with the crew and let the Gate Agents handle rebookings. Plus, if delayed they will rebook flights, put you in a hotel, give food vouchers and points for rebooked flights.
When you're sitting on a Boeing 737 and the airline tells you that you have to deplane (not deboard) because of "Maintenance Issues" just be glad they figured it out before they took off.
I never understood why Adam doesn't have TSA Precheck, since he flies so much. $20 a year, and you don't have to take off your belt, or shoes, no need to show liquids, pull out electronics, etc. So worth it, even if you just fly once a year ...
"We apologise again for the miscommunications by maintenance. Those responsible for the miscommunication have been sacked." Tribute to Monty Python!!!!
Adam, glad things eventually worked out for you on your flights... Flying is stressful enough as it is, but when you know the maintenance crew is working on your airplane and maybe they're getting pressure to declare that the plane is airworthy when maybe it isn't... That's when you sometimes get the urge to just walk away from it. My father flew cargo aircraft in world war II... One time I complained to him about a *rough landing* that we had in Chicago once. He told me, "Every landing is just a controlled crash, some more controlled than others. Any landing you're able to walk away from, is a good one.". I've always remembered his words when I go flying, ever since. Kind of puts it all into perspective.
As much as you fly, I hope you tip the airline stewardesses. They don't make a lot of money. Whatever stewardesses wait on me I usually give that person a $20 bill. Got to treat those ladies well
what I love about your travel videos is the equipment you use... so many oyher travel vloggers who focus on air travel get equipment designed to drawn out the background news of air travel... The engines.. the odd hum of air.. the murmur of the passengers... it becomes odd silent on the aircraft. to me those sounds are part of it.. They are almost soothing in a way.. makes me feel like im there on the plane...
Hey Adam, unfortunately airplanes are machines and sometimes they break. Crew are human and "time out" after approx 14 hours of duty (some exceptions). All in all, the fact that the system works at all is incredible. - 11,000+hr airline pilot (love your videos!)
Adam thank you for always sharing your travel day with us!!! I enjoy seeing all of the different airports!! I shall always JOIN you on your adventures!!! Safe travels!!
Love my local airport, Recombobulation area ♥️ and showing the 128th, very nice. Had 3 KC 135 Stratotankers fly over the house this morning…….I love living in a flight path. Incredible overview/view of DC! Continued safe travels and can’t wait to see more of them.
I absolutely love your airport and flying videos!!! I love and admire your sense of wonder, curiosity, and observation!!! Thank you so much for being you!!!😃
Southwest Airlines had three non-stop flights from Milwaukee to Orlando yesterday. I know they don’t have assigned seats but non-stop is the way to go. And you can get priority seating with an Early Bird purchase. No - I am not a SWAL employee but I do like this airline. They have never let me down.
I could be wrong, but I don't think the Miami Brightline station is at the airport. Even if I'm correct, it's still a good option as transportation from the airport to the Brightline station would be simple to get. Another option would be Fort Lauderdale then take the train to MCO. Problem would be if he missed the last evening train (9:45p Miami & 10:20p Ft.. Lauderdale) the first train in the morning doesn't arrive in Orlando until 10:15a. If you couldn't make it in time to catch the train you would be just as well off getting on a morning flight.
Most of us have had this happen. In Tampa I once had to make a decision whether to wait, re-book, get on and off the plane 2 times. Back out through security, wait for rebooking then announcement to go back the the gate. Back through security and wait. But all ends well, I got home, and my bag arrived the next day. Love your video Adam, the layovers made the video a lot more interesting, not that I wish you the same bad luck next time. Milwaukee airport is my kind of airport!
Adam, good job for not getting upset at the situation. I fly American all the time and I really commend them for telling the truth. Yes, it affected many people but they were up front and honest about the mistake.
Hello from Wisconsin .on a warm day with my hot latte watching Adam the woo figure out the airlines . hopefully you will get to your destination safely🎉
Main take away from the video; Don't fly American! I actively avoid flying AA since 2005. American is always fouling up. And next time, if you have to take the flight to Miami, remember that the Brightline train goes from MIA to MCO directly for $79.00. Anyway, great video as always.
Adam, really enjoyed your video! That lightning was cool at the end of your ✈️! Also seeing Washington monument was really cool too! Maybe your next ✈️ will go as planned. Can't wait till your next vlog.
Wow !! Flying anxiety overload just watching your experience, Adam !!! 😂 Glad you are home ! Stunning views of both DC and the lightening show as the sun was setting !! CHILLS !
It is nice that they have an area designated for reorganizing and putting stuff back in order. or recombo bulate. Along with book store and museum one the many reasons they earned the Best Airport award.
The B25 Bomber was named the Mitchell Bomber for Billy Mitchell. It was used by Jimmy Doolittle on the attack of Japan in 1942. Oddly enough, they came out of McDill AFB right near Tampa. If you like baseball and "A League of Their Own" there was a team out of Minneapolis in 1944 called "The Millerettes" named after the original Miller Beer. When coming into DCA, you flew right over IAD Dulles and they were landing to the south as well. That is where the Smithsonian has its Air Museum, Udvar-Hazy where Adam Savage has spent some time doing his own presentations. A must do! RW01 one of the best approaches. With your "recycled" aircraft, I keep thinking of Matt Damon as Shelby in "Ford V. Ferrari" where he takes a spare lug bolt and quietly throws it on the Ferrari pit area during LeMans and they immediately assume they forgot to put it back on. Maybe that's what was happening with the door plug where you were sitting? American-t. I always have problems.
Wow, what a day you had Adam! The last time I flew from Orlando to Dayton, Ohio. I also had a layover in DC with American. They also had a minor delay that day for computer issues. But nothing like this. I have been told by many sources. Now is not a good time to fly. Thankfully you made it back home. Safe travels Adam & God Bless!!
Adam, if you ever get in a situation where you had to fly into Miami, don't rent a car. Take the Brightline Express rail from Miami to Orlando. It's a new service.
Adam glad you made it back to Orlando in one piece and not too much hassle. You never said did any of those 11 show up or no you waited for nothing. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing the airport because I’m not sure I’ll ever have occasion to go through there. That Far Side was a good choice. I guess Recombobulation Area is for the discombobulated?
Your trip east from Ca. Had its delays, then issues from DC. What a frustrating return home. Enjoy your days back in Florida. Hope you have future road trips of small towns, I always enjoy the ride.👍🏻
I love the far side, one of my favorites was the one of the two snakes at a restaurant ordering ordering dinner, one snake says : I know it is risky on a first date but I think I will try the garlic wharf rats !
The only time a mechanical delay every happened to me was on an East Coast hopper fligh on Delta. If I remember correctly it was from Boston to Miami. I was on the Richmond-to-Atlanta leg. The plane had a mechanical issue at Logan and the delay caused me to miss my connecting flight to Midway. I had to fly standby about an hour and a half later. Somehow my luggage made it onto my originally scheduled flight and was waiting for me at baggage claim.
That was a cool landing in DC.. but not worth the layover.. What is going on with these airlines lately 🤷♂️🤦♂️ Thanks for showcasing Mitchell Intl Airport 👍
That's why I rarely use DCA and use IAD instead; limited rebooking options at DCA due to how busy it is- 819 daily avg takeoffs and one main runway. Glad you made it back to MCO.
I know you probably fly more than I do but but here is a suggestion I read about online. If you take an earlier flight there's a greater chance of getting to your destination versus an afternoon flight. That might help you in the future.
You would think, that with all the flights that take off and land on a daily basis, and for as many years we have had planes in the air, that these issues would be few and far between…but you have had more problems with layovers than I’ve ever seen! They must see you coming! On a different note, I do love watching a lightning storm from above the clouds! Hadn’t seen that in years! Glad you made it back home!
I lived in Northern Virginia for a few years and DCA was a great airport to fly in/out of because of the metro access and the views were simply amazing every single time.
@8:29, there were a number of replicas of the Spirit of St. Louis (which was actually designed and built in San Diego, site of Lindbergh Field). The replicas were built for private collections or movie productions. The original is on display at the Smithsonian. A copy was on display at the San Diego Aerospace Museum (the "Smithsonian of the West") until the museum was destroyed by an arson in 1978. A new replica was built for the reconstructed Air and Space Museum. The tapestry seen in the display case was actually a commemorative art piece woven in France. I have one in my personal collection.
Used to live in Kenosha which is a suburb of Milwaukee and between MKE and Chicago. If MKE offered more direct flights I would always use them. Instead i always had to fly out of ORD which IMO is to busy and way to stressful to get to and navigate around
TBF I have had to wait forever for aircraft maintenance when taking direct flights too.... at least during this trip you didn't have to worry about making a connection either time. I prefer direct, just to get where I'm going quicker, but it's not always an option. Don't give up on layovers if they are more convenient for your schedule/dollar... you just got very unlucky hahaha. Can't wait to see a potential trip up to Toronto.... Go Jays!
fantastic airport in Milwaukee and the views coming into DC wow can't believe all the issues you are having with lay overs and American flights great that you got back to Orlando.
There've been plenty of times I've deplaned and felt discombobulated, especially in a strange airport that wasn't part of a stopover, and needed a few moments to get my bearings and 're'combobulate. MKE designers have a sense of humor - I love that! My stress for your distress was evident as I consumed an entire 12-pack box of Rice Krispies treats waiting for you to get back to MCO! Now that we know you're home, I need a big glass of water and an insulin shot. Enjoy your time back in the Sunshine State! ❤✌🌮
Hey, buddy. Hope all is well. Traveling can be frustrating sometimes. I know this is way off topic, I just wanted to throw it out there because I love your filming location videos, could you maybe do "The Outsiders" filming locations?
My youngest daughter is going to Washington DC in 25 days with my oldest daughter and son in law for a year late graduation present, she is a history major and seeing the Smithsonian is her dream
@@TraciHilbersthere is no end to the fascinating things to see and do around DC. I live here, recently "retired"/not working and am really enjoying my days and free time. The many Smithsonian museums here, and the zoo is free. Love the area.
OK, this is odd but your comment about the jet bridge reminded me of a former client of mine that made similar equipment and after 25 or so years, they are still in business!
I had that happen twice once got stranded in Detroit. Another time I was leaving home in PVD going to RSW. A windstorm broke the automatic doors and knocked over the temp construction walls behind security in providence. They told us the airport was closed and to rebook. We rebooked for 2 days later and would miss that vacation time. 20 minutes after rebooking the airline called and told us to get to the airport the plane was going to board. We sped 15 minutes back to the airport checked in and because we rebooked we were no longer on the manifest ...then how did you call us? ...and that they couldn't put us back on it so they let the plane go with our empty seats. We rebooked that day to fly to Ft Lauderdale instead of Ft Myers and my friends parents drove from port Charlotte across alligator alley to pick us up because 75S was closed due to grass fires. NIGHTMARE TRIP DAY GLAD U GOT HOME OK
I always get the direct flights if possible. I don’t like the take offs or landing. The fewer times I need to do them the better. Sorry for all the trouble you had this day. Flying can be fun and stressful at the same time. Thank God it all worked out.
Fort Lauderdale would have been another option because Miami is mostly international. Fort Lauderdale is a lot better for domestic flights. Plus there is the brightline station that will take you to Orlando by train.
Wow that captain was not wrong the views you had were amazing. The best I’ve experienced is a London Heathrow La ding going right across the city flying along the Thames.
