Hearing Jack make fun of the character for refusing to go home, then seeing him completely miss that he had the option to leave, has absolutely made my day.
This was a phenomenal horror game experience! The way they made sure that the monsters only appeared for a split second in the corner of your eye, to make sure you're always on your toes, was so well executed! You know they are there, always watching. The question is just, if they're gonna attack or not. It plays so much into out instincts for survival, and turns us into scared little animals. 10/10!
I love these kinds of horror games. Where the main thing that creeps you out is the atmosphere. The creepy noises. Or the lack thereof building tension. Perfection. If you miss Outlast you should do The Outlast Trials especially since it can be co-op.
Good pick on Gabs as usual. Gabs is the queen of indie horror. Jack asked why is he getting an achievement for existing?Because existing in a horror game is an achievement.
My favourite part is that this guy sees all this freaky shit near the end and then he's like oh shit I need to get out and then casually walks. Dude RUN
Sean staying true to turning around and missing jump scares, 11:12 Sean turned around in-game right as a silhouette walked in front of the illuminated window, I've seen others play this game and was expecting it
Serious question- how do you forget to take your meds? I've been taking three different pills for around 2 years now and I haven't once forgotten 😭 I also take mine at night so Maybe that's why? I do it before I sleep as one of the pills is literally to put me to sleep so I guess that might be why lmao
@kayimsick7924 A lot of people take medications because of neurodivergence, their brains don't work like the vast majority of people so even if you've been taking medications for 20+ years (like me) it can slip your mind because you're so busy trying to remember everything else you need to do. Neurodivergent people cannot form habits like a neurotypical person. That means no matter how many times you do a thing, you need to THINK about it every time. You need to tell yourself to brush your teeth, take out the trash, feed the dog, and take your pills. Sometimes some of your pills need to be taken with food, so you put them in your pocket to take when you eat. Now you're not looking at them, so they don't exist anymore. You forget because by the time you've gotten food, sat down, and have done whatever else you forget they're in your pocket. You forget unless you're reminding yourself over and over. I've gotten better at it because I have an app on my phone that reminds me at certain times to take pills, bathe, even to eat because I'll forget that, too. So, even tho people take them at the same times everyday (I take both day and night medications) it doesn't stick as a habit because it can't. I hope this helps!
This absolutely feels like walking down a haunted house, where random stuff is happening, people dressed as ghosts try to scare you, and all you can do is just to keep going until you find the exit door. Except that in this game, it's a real ghost (or subjects, I should say).
fr, i was shitting my pants playing The Complex and it’s sequel, as well as Anemiapolis just because of the atmosphere and the constant feeling of being watched.
Jump Scare List. I recommend watching it blind, but for those who can't (Or won't) here you go! 8:28 Spooky boi 12:38 RATS 13:20 Idk what that was 17:20 DOOR 18:23 Creepy boi 21:53 Don't look up (Looks up) 22:17 RAVE 25:08 AAAURAHHAHA 25:50 Headphones ON 26:50 I thought it was a light😅 34:19 Plug walk 36:33 Little bud 40:03 Creepy crawly 43:21 RUN
It makes our day to hear Jack poke fun at the character for their refusal to go home, while seeing him completely miss the fact that he had the option to leave the entire time, lol.
I believe the feelings of anticipation and anxiety come into play, making people feel extremely nervous that it makes them easy to startle (just a guess)
I imagine the ghost man standing there for 5 minutes, meticulously writing down what's on the paper and drawing a few cute lines on it and then suddenly running towards the main character, just so they don't have to talk to them because they have social anxiety or something.
This is literally my first time ever watching or playing a horror game with headphones in, I thought I just didn’t get scared, now I’ve learned that I’ve been hiding
@@shovel4prez492 he could’ve left when the car alarm was going off, and there was a door he had opened, asked if he could go in but didn’t walk around the bed to be able to go into the door(not sure that was important) I haven’t finished the vid but I was looking for this comment before I did lol 😂
He also missed the giant creatures in the containment tubes through a gate that he was like "this goes down, but I wanna see where this leads." and kept moving fprward. I'm sure he just forgot about it, but I think he would have loved to see those.
I think the ambience being full of noises that don't mean anything prevents any genuine build up of tension because it's just repeated breathing sounds and voices and nothing really stands out until there's a jumpscare. But aside from that it was decent.
@@Stick_and_stone definitely, its a pretty well made game with good sound design especially in terms of 3d sound but the repeated usage of them plus the fact a lot werent very original brought it down a bit but still very atmospheric lol
It warms my heart his video wasn't dislike bombed after the "drama", maybe there's still hope in humanity that people are willing to accept others having different opinions
This was great! I love that the sound design was at least as important as the visuals. Definitely a headphones game. So much scarier with the great sound design. Also, and this is pretty niche, I'm a sucker for some good punctuation; there was so much variety and it was mostly correct (although I would have liked actual dashes instead of hyphens 😉). No comma splices like in so many other games. Anyway, brilliant game! I can't wait for the next one!
The movie you're talking about is spelled Gonjiam (곤지암) and it's based on a real asylum. Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital in Gwangju-si. Lots of ghost stories and rumors around it shutting down like insane doctors and experiments. The real reason is a bit more mundane, but still sad; it was gross. They had huge problems with sanitation and sewage disposal to the point that the patients they were trying to care for got sicker, the owner fled the country, and the government finally shut it down in the 1990s.
Hearing you talk about Michael Rooker makes me so happy. I met him at the Atlanta Walker Stalker convention. A wonderful man, a bit rough around the edges as a lot of southern men can be, but just a fun and expressive guy!
The rave hallway really reminded me of the "haunted house" attraction we have here. One year, one of the areas was a music festival theme with people dancing behind chain link fences and stuff
The parts outside where Jack walks through branches looks so realistic. The way the light of the camera blows out against the wood, and you can see the dirt on the lens (5:20).
The jump scares feel kinda cheap, but everything else was fantastic. The palpable feeling of always being watched (occasionally confirmed by the eyes or little heads poking out), the little noises here and there, the subtle soundtrack, and the story being somewhat compelling while providing only snippets of information, plus the graphics - Top notch stuff.
These long form videos are the biggest treat to come to, with the recent uploads, especially when they are horror related. Whether it's a horror video game or like the older horror short film reactions, they're perfect to sit down with a snack, as if they're movies.
Im sorry but man you are WAY to relatable. The "feed me" in the beginning, painting warhammer while its raining and even mentioning Gonijam in the end. Dude is in my head.
I just lost my father, First thing I did after I got everything settled was to check if you had a new video out. Thank you for providing comfort to my twenty four year old self throughout the years. You mean a lot to me sean. thank you so much. Your videos really make my day
My father was my best friend, after he passed in 2010 I was so lost and spiraling. Playing video games and watching people like Seán also helped me get through it. (Though I didn't start watching Seán specifically until a couple of years ago.) I'm glad you are finding solace in watching videos like this and don't let anyone tell you how to grieve or how long to grieve for. Healing is messy, it's complicated, and it is never linear. You take all the time you need and know that you're not alone 💜 May your father's memory be a blessing.
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. May comfort find you when you most need it, and may his memory shine on through you always. I lost mine at 16, and I know how deep this can cut. You are in my heart.
I haven't clicked on Sean's videos in a while🥺. I missed this nostalgia. Started watching him in middle school and now I'm 21 with a 1 year old🥰. My son is so interested in his voice and I love it🥺. We got a tiny septiceye fan!
JACKKKK first video I’m watching after years years yearsssss of not watching you I haven’t watched in about 9years or something I missed watching you you made my childhood and I got reminded of you playing drums so I’m watching your drum videos because as a drummer I wanna learn, love your content and I love you for being the best out there
I also love that cozy feeling of being inside during rain or snow. There is actually a blizzard outside right now, so sitting here wrapped in a blanket, I am loving catching up on these vids
I feel like I haven’t watched a playthrough this scary since the 2012 outlast/amnesia/indie-horror era and its honestly a weirdly nostalgic and welcome feeling ❤
I love this kind of horror. No monster attacking you, no "find X amount of item Z to continue", but a very creepy atmosphere, good sound design, and a monster that spooks and scares you.
There really needs to be more horror games where the player character can interact with almost anything that could potentially help you and have it actually affect the game. It always bug me that your character in a incredibly scary situation can walk past hundreds of items that could be used as potential defenses that any realistic person would grab out of fear but the game won't let you pick them up. And imagine if there are several jump-scares that could actually be prevented by interacting with the proper objects such as blocking a path behind you with a bookshelf preventing something from sneaking up on you or picking up an axe so that in the final moments when the creature finally attacks you have a chance but if you forgot to grab the weapon you are doomed or end up in a worse situation in which you have to keep going to survive.
Thank you so freaking much for the medication reminder! I seriously spaced it until you said it and I’m already hours late taking it you are a life saver
I'm playing blasphemous 2 and watching jack, when the car horn started going off it was perfectly on beat to the castlevania-esc music. ❤ then he said what a jam, made me crack up
an urbex vlogger is someone who vlogs their urban explorations through usually abandoned buildings. If you want to watch some really good ones, I recommend The Proper People. So many people are not respectful of the history and integrity of the buildings, but those guys are really good at telling the history of the place, documenting the interesting stuff, but also doing as little possible damage to it as they can. I'd never be able to do urbex myself because I'm a whimp, so I'll continue watching on youtube 😅
I can't play video games and really appreciate people like you that play so i can watch while i work on art commissions. my brain and hands just don't want to communicate when it comes to controls, and omg especially these scary ones i freeze so fast. Thanks for the shoutout about not refunding games. that seems so messed up to take away money from someone that worked to make something that isn't broken. continue to kick as, post when you feel inspired, and providing us with that sweet sweet bean soup.
I can’t tell you how much watching your videos changes my mood. You crack me up. But also, even if it hasn’t been mentioned on a video in awhile, PMA has really helped me be more aware of having a positive mental attitude and hearing you talk about it in past videos is amazing. You help lift moods and spread positivity, just by posting videos that make people laugh. I’m hoping to get some PMA merch when it’s back in stock, I love it. I love your content. Thank you for being you, Seán ☺️
ive never related more to anyone than i do watching your videos. i love all the yters i watch but you're the one i watch and im like omg literally me 😂
I love that Evelyn recommends games to Sean id love to see a video about how you guys balance both being youtubers who make similar content. Like do you have rules about not telling each other about games you've played so you don't spoil it? Anyways love both your channel and hers! ❤
i loveeee watching evelyn play games cause she's so intricate about the details in the game and the back stories but i love jacks humor in it to make it less scary😂
Her content is great. She likes to look at every detail and find all scraps of lore available in a game. Her streams are good, too! She's plays horror games mostly, too! She's really down to earth and funny, too. Go check out her channel. I'd highly recommend it! Gab Smolders is her handle on RU-vid and Twitch 😀 She can speak Japanese too, so she also plays Japanese horror games and translates what's Said and written to English.
OOoo this was one of the scarier games I seen in a while I got a few good chills and the sound design was really well done I thought there were things all around you then you found the lore and stuffs that was such a good experience for a short game. A game like this but longer would make for a great series. I actually had to pause a couple times and be like "Okay..deep breath and lets go!" and unpause to continue watching which is normally hard to make me that scared.
a pretty good game honestly , and smt i rly liked is that the monsters had clear purpose and trackable humane line of thoughts ( i think at least !) befitting their human intelligence , my theory is that the hive mind is the teddy bear or its their way of communication since they can't talk ... they probably killed the scientists out of pure revenge for stealing their lives , when mc came they wanted him to leave since he was innocent and thus the 'go away ' sign, but a hive mind is very powerful when it comes to generating ideas , so they tried to stop him from leaving and request that he uncovers the horrors that happened to them and informing their loved ones of their fate, and thus the horror that seemed to want to tell u smt, but since u ran all scared they wanted to tease u ( the 'dont look up' sign might be a proof ) , the fact that mc survived those predators in itself is a sign of their good well . i like these type of 'horrors' more that those in outlast series ( the 'everything withing 50 miles radius wants to kill u for no reason')
He still has that yee ole charm from the good ole days I like Jack but I never have the time to watch him and every time I do it makes my day and the fact he still uploads is awesome love you Jack💚💚💚
It's literally JUST the unreal engine. Games don't deserve praise for graphical fidelity of stock shaders and free assets any more than an rpgmaker game should be criticized for being pixelated...
Yeah UE5 makes this very accessible. It's the new normal, doesn't really deserve praise for the graphics. Indie horror in the past has always been more about the ambiance or story, with terrible graphics because of the low budget.
You mentioned Grave Encounters, and yes, yes, YES!! That's what I was trying to pinpoint the whole time! It honestly did have a Grave Encounters feel to it, I loved it. That was one of my favorite horror movies.
Hey Sean haven't been to the channel in a couple years, but I can honestly say coming back in my adulthood, im very glad I did come back. Love what the channel has molded into over the years and to see you slowly becoming more comfortable to be yourself (at least to the extent that we understand), BUUT i just wanted to say from 11 year old me to now creeping up on my 22nd birthday, you are the most authentic (non trauma driven) laughs i can get anywhere. Love the channel, Love what you do man, stay blessed
The picture in my head is Sean playing the first game yelling and clearly spooked and evelien chuckling to herself somewhere in the house w each scream 😂
