As a note Jack - calibration was how quiet you wanted to limit yourself to. The further left you made it, the quieter you were forcing yourself to be, ironically
Yeah, they said they were going to ad objectives… if the things don’t kill you, they might at least interfere with your goal so you wouldn’t want to see them? I dunno. 😅
This game can't work on me anyway because my gut *instinct* when i get scared is to entirely go silent. I go into a weird cross between fight and flight - i'm silent and stiff for a split second (which could cost my life, but oh well), but I'm using that split second to assess the situation and decide my retaliation. I have a deep gut HATRED instinct for anything that would dare to threaten me, so I always want to retaliate but I want to retaliate as intelligently as possible. It's a great reflex in *some* situations, and a bad one in others, but luckily those "other" situations are more likely to be insta-kills and I wouldn't have to worry about that long anyway.
@@SamanthaS92 I *really* like the idea of objectives. I'd be more liable to scream out of frustration than out of fear, so that would work better for me as a player. I also like it so that it's not just a "walking simulator" with jumpscares.
fr he avoided the entire airplane in the beginning (edit: even tho he got there eventually) which is what got other youtubers in the beginning so much (edit: i just got to the airplane part so i take back what i said lmao)
@@thelocaldork im glad he saw the house first, most people who play this think that the plane is the only area, but there is wayyy more areas and so much lore attached to this game. And a lot more scripted scares that arent like the goofy random ones that you get later on
@@FemboyKaiSaku honestly same, j just wouldve loved to see his reaction to the jumpscare when you turn around after listening to the recorder thing in the plane
The hilarious part to me is when Jack whispers too loudly, and the game thinks he's screamed, and it just violently throws the camera across the ground.
@@BananahRaethey were basically playing on hard mode though, because both had to not react and they kept setting each other off (like one would flail and touch the other who would then scream) the scream cam for spooky week was an excellent choice since we got to see the slo mo reaction
The only person I've watched play it who plays a significant amount of horror games. Dan and Phil don't count because I expect them to not be desensitized to jump scares and they set eachother off constantly by one of them flinching which startled the other into screaming
I gotta say, this feels more like a horror ride (the one you see in carnivals) than a horror game. It's not scary once you know you aren't in any kind of danger. The atmosphere is phenomenal though.
My god yea, especially past like halfway way through when he starts criticizing the monsters screaming at him “So you’re allowed to scream and I’m not?” Is what broke me XD
I'm not into ASMR, but listening to Jack anxiety narrate a constant stream of humor-chatter super softly to help him cope is something I never knew I needed xD
I love this idea. It would be perfect if it was multiplayer. Like imagine that everyone starts from the different spot and you have to find each other as one of the objectives. Or just the experience of waking silently through that creepy forest and hearing your friend's scream in the distance. It has so much potential. I'd love to see what'll become of it
That’s a good idea. Give more sense of lacking control because you can’t directly communication with your friends This game, however, all your need to do is shut up and everything is fine
I want this to be a thing, I know so many peeps who hate horror games. I love horror games. Getting them all to play together just to hear them all screaming in the distance would be so funny 😂
I hate the editing... I'd much rather see the return of the nearly uncut and unaltered videos like roughly 10-15 years ago. - But yea, trends, plus the increasingly shorter attention-span of Zoomers... I guess it's also edited by a Zoomer...
Hello everyone, we're the devs of the game! We've got big plans for our game. Originally, we set out to create a brief horror experience using Unreal Engine 5. However, your feedback has opened our eyes to its greater potential, and we're excited to explore a new direction. We're definitely keeping the "microphone mechanic" as a key feature, but we agree that the game should offer more than just jump scares. We're now aiming to integrate a clear objective, an engaging backstory, and compelling reasons for you to explore these eerie locations. The game will introduce real threats that you must avoid to survive, (in other words, things in the forest can kill you) enhancing the sense of being pursued. Our goal is to craft a genuine horror atmosphere filled with suspense. Your support means the world to us, and we're committed to making these improvements. Thank you for believing in the game's potential! Thank you!
I tried to enjoy this game, but 60% of my time in it was spent just getting the sound right so I could ACTUALLY whisper. Glad I'm not the only one who was experiencing the whole "that wasn't a scream wdym?!!?"
In the beginning he mentioned how to him by being loud he feels like he's funny, but listening to him have to restrain himself was genuinely hilarious. Some of the jokes worked so well with a quiet tone and it worked really well.
@@nicholaipowell3817 pitch and volume aren’t the same. pitch and frequency are related to each other, and amplitude and volume are related. Frequency is measured in Hertz and amplitude is measured in decibels.
@@jonathangoodwin5609 They should have made the player do a baseline voice test, talking at normal volumes, then assign "scream" volume at a set level above that baseline dB
Such a cool idea, I love it when horror games detect your mic. I definitely think this game is WAY too sensitive though Edit: After watching a few other people play this game, I believe there was an adjustment error on Jack’s part in his own microphone settings. An understandable mistake, but unfortunate that you have to adjust base settings outside of the game. It is what it is, I suppose.
Wonder if his mic has a gain knob or something. But I think that would make his commentary audio too quiet? Idk much about the technical stuff, dont take my babbling too seriously. Kek.
@@dahyuniedubu6346No, the game is set to be overly sensitive to sound. I have seen multiple creators play it and they're all having to whisper or it detects a scream when they just talk normally.
They could always program it so you only die if the threshold is passed during a set spook event, but I imagine it'll probably reduce potential deaths by about 40%.
I cannot count how many times I laughed out loud. I understand you were "incredibly uncomfortable" but this was one of the funniest videos ever just because of your absurdly calm commentary. Holy cow man I wept with laughter. Edit - I have now realized you are my internal monolog. You are my brain personified. Empathy my good man.
@@TheWaffleLord6787we need tw timestamps available for people with phobias. I'm good with horror games etc. but not disclosing certain aspects has given me way too many panick attacks
Extreme respect for Jack managing to make this work after the trouble the game had figuring out what a scream sounds like from him. I was starting to expect it to become frustrating after the first couple of deaths to putting mild emphasis on the words, but he found the tone needed and it became a very fun video. Thanks for the hard work!
I don't know why, but nearly everything Jack said during this video was making me crack up. There's something really funny about how things sound when he's trying really hard to be quiet. 😆
@@TOOTHLESS666son, I know you haven't seen me even once in the 8 years you've been alive, but I'm very disappointed and won't contact you ever again after this.
I think we all just saw Jack reach a zen stay of mind. Never seen him so quiet....like ever. Honestly Jacks quiet voice was very soothing, need about an hour of it to play at night to help me sleep lol
There is something about the situation and delivery of the lines… *women screams* “…that’s okay..!” “I’m doing phenomenally this time. I am doing S O good. I believe in myself. I believe in myself more than I believe in Steve, and I believe in Steve a hell of a lot. The mini market..okay oh sweet Jesus! I needed to come get groceries not this…I don’t need this” That is killing me. I genuinely don’t know why it is hilarious to but it is perfect. Seán’s vibes in this video is me in most situations lol
I love this, as it is actually very nice to listen to your soft and quiet voice while you try not to scream or laugh. It reminds me a lot of Markiplier's "quietest let's play" videos, which were also hilarious. Good job in not screaming!
