Orso is my fav character of all time 🤣 your feelings towards him were a rollercoaster for me haha Savine is my second fav, what a badass yet such a complex female character

Hahaha, he’s just so insufferable initially! 😂 I’m very curious to see where Savine’s arc goes

@@ebnovels his self hatred and self criticism harms him a lot and makes him at times insufferable true 😂 but imo book 2 is where he absolutely shines!

It's actually kind of wild how much more likeable he's become compared to the start (I'm early in The Wisdom of Crowds now).

I finished the trilogy at the beginning of the year. I loved Orso basically from the beginning. I have to say at least one thing in his defense - he’s not stupid. That title belongs to different characters, but I don’t want to spoil anything. Leo was the one I was reluctant about though. I hated his constant need for heroism, that meant to only paint him as a hero - which was a bit similar to Orso. I would even love a spoiler video from you about this trilogy.

Abercrombie is my favorite author. I just love the way he writes. This book, and this series has so many great moments, and so many surprises.

Good news on the adaptation front: Best Served Cold is being adapted for film with Tim Miller set to direct and Abercrombie has written the script.

Ferro Maljinn is one of my favorite characters from the First Law. I have been hoping that we might see more of what is happening with her and the seed. Her killing The Emperor and attacking The Prophet is cool, but I want to see her come back for Bayaz. I want her to have a storyline that suits her. She sought vengeance, and found it. Now she should be listening to the Tellers of Secrets.

I won't watch in case of spoilers, but I'll leave my Like and say this - I was late to Joe Abercrombie's works. I just finished my first book 'The Blade Itself' last month and loved it. So I'm very much looking forward to reading the rest of the trilogy and continuing with the rest of Joe's books. I'm a high fantasy girl, (don't do 'romantasy' lol) so G.R.R.M and Tolkien are my favourite authors for Fantasy, but I can definitely see Joe being in that group if his books continue to improve upon his first novel. He's a great writer and has intriguing characters, good old British humor, and I can't wait to see what's next! Next, I really need to get on to Robin Hobb's books!!! Wish I could freeze time so I had more time to read XD

I thought that the little hatred series was even better than the first. Def team Glokta (and then Savine) but I REALLY loved Orso especially by the end. He has a great arc. Also some of the aspects you’re talking about remind me of the Prince in Ever After, when she’s like DUDE you have all the power to change so much and he’s like huh. Yeah. Haha

Elle, please review the next two books just like you did in this video. These whole trilogy is an emotional roller coaster like the first book. I'm so glad you liked it.

I would recommend anyone who likes Abercrombie, to read David Gemmell. He writes probably the best heroic fantasy and was arguably the author that was grimdark before grimdark...proto-grimdark maybe. Short and to the point books that are a great palette cleanser between books of longer series.
@ebnovels

@@ebnovels No worries! His Drenai saga is a good place to start, with Legend. It's not a strict book to book series, there's stand alone books within the series and books with recurring characters. But his favourite books for me are the Jon Shannow trilogy (The Jerusalem Man) which is the first books of Gemmell's I read, Wolf In Shadow, The Last Guardian and Bloodstone.

I definitely recommend Heroes at least. The story from that book gets mentioned and there are some characters in the trilogy from Heroes as well. I didn’t enjoy Best Served Cold either but I LOVED Heroes. I don’t really enjoy reading battles but boy Heroes is a 5 star for me. It was a bit dragged at times but when I finned - masterpiece.

I feel like I’m the only person who didn’t love The First Law trilogy. I found almost every character completely unlikable. I was actively rooting against most of them. I couldn’t stand Glotka and how he always managed to come out on top. And overall, I felt like the characters were poorly developed. The story didn’t quite work for me either. And this is a tiny nitpick, but Jezel saying “err” or “erm” every other sentence drove me crazy. Lol. I wanted to love it but it just left me flat. I didn’t hate it, but I just didn’t get all the love for it either. I found it pretty mediocre overall.
