Thanos I left to get a few flight feathers, now John has to tell jack that daddy has kill 150 law men, has cleared out the ecosystem, and has ben gambling all the family money away.
@@lennysummers7816 I'm stuck in chapter 2 I want you alive and Arthur too but mostly the gang like Arthur says Btw what are u doing Lenny? Are u in Tahiti with the gang???
"It all starts with a good woman. John Marston is the luckiest man alive." This shit is why Uncle ruled. He may have been useless when it came to any form of physical labour, but he knew exactly what certain people needed to hear when they felt down or upset. Lazy and drunk as he might've been, he was truly was the caring 'Uncle' of the gang.
That's probably why the gang kept him around in the first place. A court Jester's highest privilege was always to speak truth to power and that's what Uncle kept doing, confronting or mocking even Dutch or Micah before he left and (probably his finest achievement) confronting John about what a dump his shack was, basically forcing him to tear it down completely and instead build a real ranch at Beecher's Hope.
I think Arthur mostly said that because of what happened to him personally. He once had a son, and he did his best to go see him everytime he could, and he couldn't protect him. John left his son and his wife willingly for an entire year and unlike Arthur, he just got them back, alive and well.
Getting attacked by wolves Has an annoying son and wife Forced to do dirty work for the government to keep his family safe Constantly deals with wife's nagging Kills of his 3 remaining "friends" Gets obliterated by Ross and the army for taking revenge when told not to -what was that about being "luckiest man alive"?
@@negrura121302 keeping on what @Victor Draws is commenting, John stop being a luckiest man alive when he look back. Which is what Arthur has been warning John about for the rest of Chapter 6
It all starts with a good woman 😌 I love the connection Arthur and Abigail had it wasnt on a romantic level it was loving yet respectful. He looked out for her and Jack. Its only right for her to feel emotional when she hears about him.
It was romantic in the past, after fishing with Jack, you can see in Arthur's diary that he once thought about marrying Abigal before she feel in love with John, but blames Mary for not pursuing Abigal.
@TheHolyLoaf Abigal was a prostitute and she slept with most people of the gang, look it up, that's why John isn't sure Jack is his son. So yeah, it could easily be romantic.
TheHolyLoaf It was sort of romantic tho, they had a bond that was pretty strong right off the get go of the game. I noticed it right away when she asked Arthur to find John it was just BOOM
I think Arthur had a crush on her in the past but during the time of RDR2, Arthur has got over her since he fell in love with Mary and the relationship between him and Abigail is simply friends. Arthur might have looked out for Abigail and Jack because of their friendship and probably he was just trying to be a father for Jack when John was irresponsible to his family
Probably. But he had his shoot out with the Pinkertons soon enough. What's sad is he had no way of knowing that a near death Arthur would be able to fend off government agents, only for Micah and Dutch to sneak up on him. What could John done though? There'd still be the possibility that John would get killed. And there was no other way for Arthur. If Arthur had fought off the law and killed Micah he still would have been on deaths door. They were still years away from a treatment option for TB. And thanks to Dutch he couldn't go west. And that was just a pipe dream at that point. That's at least how I would rationalize it if I was John.
J Dawg At that point, do you really care if you die by a bullet, or from your disease a few hours later? Either way he could buy time for Marston to get out. By that point at least the path I went with with Arthur, he had readily accepted his death.
At that point in the game everyone knew Arthur was dying or at least very sick, he could not be saved. Arthurs time had come, but John, Abigail, and Jack still had there whole lives ahead of them. The time they had as a family wasn't as much as it should have been, but it was more than they ever would have had if Arthur didn't die better than he lived.
@@ethanbradley2089 I think it's just hard for John to talk about everything that went down that night. Like you said Arthur was dying for the TB and he probably wouldn't have made it out alive even if he had killed Micah and the Pinkertons. In my headcanon, John is just sad that he didn't get a chance to do more for Arthur. Hindsight is 2020. But this is why you have fanfic where you can change the ending of a great story into one with a happy ending where John, Abigail, Jack and Arthur run neighboring farms in Wyoming.
If only the story could have ended happier, but I guess that's how life goes unfortunately things don't always stay the same and people can change and sometimes loyalty stands for nothing with some people just as arthur found out,you can only imagine the level of hurt arthur felt seeing so many he cared for turn on him along with dying from TB,just glad he still had a handful of the gang that cared about him and had his back in the end such a great story that played out with both games but it was so sad and emotional, that you end up been drawn in to it that how can you not care about the characters.
@@sinclairgomes3513 Days Gone is my therapy for finding out about the Last of Us 2, a Zombie game with good narrative, grit, and Sam Witwer, WTF else do you want?! 👍
Saahiljit Singh yes Charles is so powerful he doesn’t need to ride a horse as the urge to build that damn house boosts his adrenaline so much that he has the ability to run from Canada to the US in a matter of seconds.
@Ziyan’s Power Thats awesome! Glad he made it through both world wars… he was just young enough to be drafted in both. What a life… Imagine you survive all this shit out in the west just to die in a muddy trench somewhere on a french field
@Needles Iblis So why would he talk about Arthur alot eight years after he died but not just 4 years after the epilogue? It already has been many years, it wouldn't make sense for him to mention a guy who's been dead nearly a decade all the time.
Slim Dickens not to mention Arthur’s character wasn’t even thought of in red dead 1. Everything rockstar does has a purpose down to the nitty gritty details. This dialogue explains why John doesn’t talk about him to make up for any supposed inconsistencies. Clever ol rockstar.
You can hear the sadness in John's voice when he tells Abigail "I'll talk about him but what's there to say?" I feel like it isn't just about "forgetting the past" but more so with John not wanting to drop his 'Tough Guy' persona and start getting overly emotional with being reminded by Arthur... clearly we know this to be true when he tells Mary-Beth that "I think about him."
Obviously we know why it was put in that John doesn’t want to talk about Arthur because I’m the years to come he wasn’t actually part of the story but it’s kinda sad that he will honour arthur by killing Micah but yet won’t mention arthurs name again even though you can probably catch moment where John is alone when it’s quiet in the first game where it’s up to interpretation that he is thinking about arthur or imagining what arthur would do in his situation, especially when it comes to seeing bill Javier and dutch and his final moments in his barn before telling the people he cares for most to go and don’t look back before he gives his life so they could be free, in that moment especially I’d like to think he was thinking of the last thing arthur said to him “be a god damn man”
I've given this a lot of thought and tried putting myself in John's shoes. Then I realized that knowing Micah, if given the chance he would try to hurt me or my family without me being able to do anything about it. If I had the ability to take him out and finally put my mind at ease I'd not let it go to waste. John as well as Arthur saw how Micah manipulated Dutch and in turn half of the remaining gang. Knowing that Micah wanted to bang my wife and probably even kill me in my sleep if he could, then I wouldn't risk leaving him be even if I had ways of continuously being informed of his whereabouts. Because who knows, since he ratted on the gang before, he could easily be hired to hunt me or my family down eventually. This is also proven by the events leading up to RDR1. Agents come looking for Micah and upon finding his corpse they make the connection to John. Even if he didn't work for the law at the time it's possible that he mentioned John to them at one time. So in that case the damage was already done. Any of the opposing members of the gang could pose a threat to John by that point as well. So once the law finds John in RDR1, he decides it's him or them (his old gang members). In the back of his head he knows that the law has no reason to not bring him down after his work is done, but then again he has no other choice.
It probably means nothing, but seeing Jack and Abigail talk about Arthur with that big, empty chair between them, casting shadows in the afternoon sun..it hurts, almost like another person was meant to be there. But wasn't.
I love how good the acting and mocap is in this game that when Jack says Arthur u can see it makes Abigail pause and there is a different vibe to the room.
I still miss him dearly to this day. He was very strong silent type intelligence. His whole ordeal with Mary Linton and how he still loves her till the end( depending on ur character) was absolutely beautiful to me. When he says, “whenever you call I’d come Mary.” That ain’t simping, he realized his choices made him loose the woman not who he is. And he dealt with it the best he could
I know this has nothing to do with RDR2 or the video, but let's be honest, (imo) I think the 2 best video game characters are Arthur and Joel, I mean try to imagine Arthur and Joel teaming up together and gunning down everyone who gets in they're way
Blue Thunder I’ve thought about that as well! I’m sure people who’ve played TLoU and RDR2 make connections between both of the characters. They’re definitely two of my all time favorite protagonist.
When first time Jack said “Arthur… he saved us didn’t he?” My feels. 🥺 My head started playing the song from FarCry 5 opening theme just nice and smoothing.
@Mr. Obunga Well Dutch specified in Red Dead that "We ALL had her", and Arthur in his journal suggesting he should have married her; it seems pretty likely they had sex. It's also implied through dialogue John left the gang before RDR2 because he thought Jack might be Arthur's.
kinda sad that john really tried to become a "normal" man and he managed to build a house and have some livestock but the past never forgot him and the crook agents shot him like a dog
I’ve always felt bad for uncle, he is a sad man with no family left and nobody to love him. He had seen many things and watched many of his friends die one by one. He gets hated by most people including John and sometimes Arthur but he was always the wisest of the vanderline gang. He will always be my favourite gang member.
Yeah, cause nobody would have told him, and that would explain why nobody fought back against Dutch, but I do have to say, if Lenny, Sean, Hosea, Charles, Sadie, Javier, reverend, the woman, uncle, mr person and trekking had been there in the right kindest, things maybe could have been different
Its obvious that just the mention of the name “Arthur” makes john choke up and shut down. You can see it anytime he talks about him with old gang members and strangers that knew him. Remember, this is 1907, men weren’t too keen on showing their emotions. Its easier to say: _”its in the the past, we left that behind”_ and keep it to yourself rather than to acknowledge that the loss of arthur probably hit him real hard and maybe even makes him feel guilty. John (and almost any man from that time period) didn’t have the mental insight to deal with that sort of loss in a healthy way. And honestly, i don’t think i would be able to talk about my brother all the time if he went out the same way Arthur did even in this time period. Giving his life so you can live yours, thats heavy shit man. The thought of leaving Arthur alone on that mountain has to be incredibly painful and traumatic for John even if it was in the best interest of his family.
It would have been heartwarming that if just after they come down the mountain at the end of the game we saw John, Abigail, Uncle, Charles, Sadie and Jack all sitting around and talking about what Arthur did for them. A delayed eulogy
I'm pretty sure it was common back then. The father was the Head of the house, and the relationship between child and father back then was very different, and based solely on respect.
have you ever played god of war? lol a son calling his dad "sir" is a really common thing, i cant even believe it surprises you that sometimes jack calls john "sir"
Ok so when rockstar was working on rdr1 he already thought about his new character and his story that's actually true tho he was thinking about arthur story, soon when rdr1 was gonna be finish they thought about the character name ( arthur) but why doesn't John mention him if rockstar already was working on his new character?, that's why I kinda want him to remake rdr1 because so John talks about arthur more, and you get to visit arthur grave again and plus ain't John house near strawberry and Blackwater? , well in rdr1 John is supposed to be in Mexico right so? Who did his house get to Mexico? And I want John to talk about his old gang more and arthur too And at the end I want him and arthur spirit animal together like on a cliff or near John's house, I also kinda want to visit the camps again and John has like flashbacks or something idk... Idk it's just a thought I have 🤷♀️
They wouldn't have mentioned Arthur in RDR1 because RDR2 would have still be at the drawing board stage with the story no finalized or set in stone yet I anyway. As soo as they added details about it into RDR1 they would have been stuck with them and wouldn't have had as much artistic freedom to change their minds as RDR2 entered development. We know rockstar are whishy washy just based on how much they changed the RDR2 story even right before release
arthur morgan his house isn’t in Mexico, did you play rdr because it doesn’t sound like it. He has safe houses in Mexico when he’s chasing bill and Javier but in the end he returns to Beechers hope where he dies and John doesn’t have to have his whole character revolve around arthur. Also I doubt they had the next game planned out while working on rdr1 because they had enough issues getting that one out
Point Zero you make really good content. I like how you start your videos right away with no annoying intro and music. You also don't have bullshit on your channel while others do. I appreciate that, keep up the good work!
