Abrahamic faiths resemble domestic abuse so well because they’re both rooted in power and control through dependency, degradation, and fear. This is antithetical to benevolence.
Please consider supporting my channel through Patreon. It’s the only way I can afford to devote the time required to keep creating these animations. Thank you!

+Ensiferum Fan 'Oh and I forgot the worst part: God allows the devil to have his way with the earth abusing and killing humans as he pleases. That means that God abuses us by proxy.' - By this asinine logic the SJWs are correct in their claims of the Patriarchy is oppressing us [women] by proxy, or a parent is at fault if their child murders someone because they birthed them. These arguments used against god are so retarded, that at first, I thought they were good arguments; but then I decided what would happen if I applied similar logic in let us say a courtroom? Then, it starts to get more retarded if the jury or judge questions you on how you murdering or abusing another person is the fault of your parents because your parents birthed you and 'didn't stop you from from ugh... murdering.' God indeed created Satan, that does not mean he bears the burden of Satan's faults by proxy, otherwise, if we made that argument real policy in real life. We'd have a lot of parents in jail. What is the argument, eh? Judge: (smashed gavel on the sound block) God, you are here today under the accusation of being at fault for thy sons crimes, how do ye' plead?! God: (Thinks) 'WTF is this numpty on about...?', (answers) I plead innocent. You see, this type of logic, if taken to its final conclusion, starts to get pretty immoral or witch hunt-esque because you have essentially taken the Christian maxim of 'original sin' and flipped it where it instead of being 'The sins of thy father being the sins of thine son...' to 'The sins of thine son being the sins of thy father.'

Cryptaris Protocol God is meant to be all-knowing, meaning God knew exactly what Satan would do when he created him, but simply allowed him to do it. God: I plead innocent, I was waiting for Satan to do something like that. Judge: Are you suggesting you knew he was going to do that. God: of course, I know everything. I'm also omnipresent so I was they at every crime scene. Judge: And did you ever attempt to stop him from commiting any of these crimes. God: No. Judge: Guilty

The problem is you're comparing apples to oranges. God is perfect. Humans aren't. So, of course God would be committing crime by proxy. If he is all-knowing, and omnibenevolent, what stops him from preventing our suffering?

@noskalborg723
@noskalborg723 7 лет назад
Michael Bleskoski that went way over your head. I was saying that people who say that people are worthless actually serve the devil. Lucifer is Satan. Lucifer was an angel of heaven; a cherished and favored spirit, but when god presented the plan of salvation Lucifer stepped in with an alternate plan (to try to usurp the power if) Lucifer's plan was to guarantee that all Would be saved. Gods plan was to guarantee that all Could be saved. The risk in god's plan was necessary for us to be able to truly mature in mortality. Lucifer's plan would have eliminated risk, but it would have locked us into stagnation. God wants to save us from hell. God wants to save us for godhood. "As man is god once was. As god is man is able to become. " These truths are often rejected by the "Christian community" presumably because it reduces god's stature. But the real problem is that it elevates god's expectations of us. What is your opinion of godhood being offered to all who strive to be good?

A better explanation: Theism is the of people not being able to understand the world and still wanting an explanation. I like how when she started escaping from her husband, he started pleading for her to come back. It would have been so easy to fall into the trap of having him threatening her to hit her, or just saying "yeah just leave I don't care", but DM's smarter than that. The fact that he's pleading makes the husband that much more human and realistic. The problem with abusers is that they have that sort of weakness that makes you think he/she's actually attached to you, he/she's actually very vulnerable and that you feel bad for leaving them. They're sort of victims of themselvses as well. Great job DM.

The problem with abusive and controlling relationships is that the victim usually doesn't realize how bad the situation is. They perceive it as normal, justified or even good. Look at the life he gave me. I'm better off with him/her. I was worse off before. His anger is justified. After all, he made all this happen. Besides, other relationships are no better. Hell, mine is pretty good. Just look at Andy and his girl. He's got a restraining order and a kid in SS. My relationship can't be as bad as theirs right? Truly its better. Sure he hits me, but he doesn't mean it. Or I did it to myself. He loves me. He loves me. He loves me. The same is true for religion.

You like Hitler huh? Fine, take this speech of his, then! What does democracy or authoritarian state mean for those internationall hyenas? They don't care at all. They are only intrested in one thing. Are you willing to be pundered, Yes or No? Are you stupid enough to keep quiet in the process? Yes or No? And, when a democracy is stupid enough not to, then it is good. But when an authoritarian state declares "You don't plunder our people any longer... neither from the inside nor the outside, then that is bad." In reality, money rules in these countries. They talk about press freedom when, in fact, these newspapers have one owner and the owner is, in any case, the sponser. The press then shapes public opinion. These polical parties don't hav e any differances at all, like always. You already know the old polical parties. They were all the same. Then people must think that, especially in these countries of freedom and wealth, there should exist a very comfortable life for it's people, but the opposite is the case. In these countries, in these so-called "Democracies", the people is by no means the main focus of attention. What really matters is the existance of this group of "Democracy Makers". This is, the existance of a few hundred of giant capitalists who own all the factories and shares and who, ultimately, lead the people. They are not intrested at al in the great mass of people. They are the only one who can be addressed as international elemets because they conduct their business everywhere. It is a small, rootless international clique that is turning the people against eachother, that does not want them to have peace. They can suppress the people, they can kill the people, if they like. But you must not capitulate.

Oscar O. One slap is all it takes. If he needed to attack, he could just go away or maybe punch into something that actually doesn't feel pain? It would still look pathological, but it is better to punch doors than the person you should care about and share all your secrets. Of course I don't know the situation and probably both sides are equal to blame, but I'm pretty sure there's a way out of emotions even if they're hard to control. Plus if they can argue over something SO MUCH that it actually makes them use hands, it means it's better to just stop it. I don't know if I could believe a person who slapped me, that he loves me. An aggressive person will not change. Believe me. Many people lost their personalities, mentality, or even lives, because of believing otherwise. He could only change after a shock wave like going to prison, killing someone or getting rejected etc., but even then it often doesn't work. So please don't tell someone, how to live their life. She should know better what's best for her than you, because she knows more about her story. So many stupid people these days...

I remember hearing this before, and in church, the argument against it was that the abusive human relationship was wrong because the human abuser was just a flesh-and-blood human just like the victim, and has delusions of superiority, but that's not the case with humans and God, in which one is genuinely superior. Looking back, that still has "might makes right" undertones, because the argument that sinful acts are only sinful if done by humans, because some things are appropriate for only God to do basically boils down to might making right. It's so hard to concretely argue that the Abrahamic God is genuinely morally superior that most arguments saying he is hinge on its being objectively impossible to understand his decisions because he's just that much wiser than we are. Which I wouldn't be surprised hasn't also been said of dictators by their downtrodden subjects. It's pretty heartbreaking to think that some people really are in positions like these, and the only one who supposedly has their back when no one else does is actually just another abuser if he's out there at all.

My ex was very abusive. Not physically, but emotionally abusive. And it had a lot to do with religion. I mean she was a terrible person underneath it all, but religion gave her a shield to hide behind. She used it as an excuse for everything. To defend myself, I'm ashamed to admit I snapped and got almost as verbally abusive as she was. I hated what I had become. She may have started it, but I had stooped to her level. There was no reasoning with her or salvaging that toxic relationship. And rather than constantly defending myself (She spoke no other language other than cruelty and deceit, so if I was too gentlenor soft with my words, I was spineless) and letting those bad habits I was formkng change me permanently... I left. She would have killed me and not felt the tiniest bit of guilt or shame. Every day I was practically swimming in adrenaline and cortisol. It was ruining my brain, body and physical health *_AND_* forcing me to become a monster to fight monsters... so I am glad I left.

I was brought up in a Hindu family with no religious pressure and I always had freedom to choose. Thanks to my parents. When I was 19, a friend of mine preached Gospel of Christ to me and over the course of few years I slowly got converted into Christianity, to such an extent that I became a worship leader at the Church I attended. (People are just lovely at the church and I still talk to them though I don't attend it anymore) But thanks to channels like this especially @darkmatter2525. All this really opened my eyes. I first became a skeptic and also I used to really enjoy the video content, but slowly I realized the ignorance I had with my beliefs so i slowly came out of it. I used to always hate people who called themselves atheist, cause I never understood what it meant and trust me, many religious folks don't. When I told my girlfriend I am an atheist, she just got upset and asked me never to call myself that. I explained her what it really means cause she thought the concept of athiesm was anti-christ. Though she's not completely satisfied, she does understand my position. I also credit people like Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris and their extraordinary way to put forth arguments, which helped me realize how wrong I was to believe something, without evidence and just rely myself on faith. Now I can say that I am an atheist. Many of my Christian friends tell me that I was never a Christian to begin with. I always just say, you have no idea how devoted I was. I feel so much free even as I'm typing this, but also a little sad cause I know how easy our minds could be manipulated by religion. I have seen it first hand. Finally I'm just glad that I have realized the truth before it was too late for me to recover.

@Projal Paul Thekkanath I don't wanna sound like a hater, but for what its worth, if you read about Hinduism more it all sounds just like a cheap knockoff of the lord of the rings novels... At least Christanity doesn't force you to believe in "magical words(or mantras) than can create an arrow for your magical bow out of nothing" albeit the concept of Christianity is no different from like Hinduism. It just forces you to blindly believe in something without thinking. I was forced to believe in this fantasy by my parents and I just refused it and turned atheist. Last thing I wanna be called is a "atheist identified in Hinduism" no thank you.
@charvikripalani2270
@charvikripalani2270 4 года назад
@Projal Paul Thekkanath Then I think that I'm just unlucky to get parents who are conservative Hindus then. I used to question how things that they explain in the Ramayan and Mahabarat are even possible. Actually the gods of Hinduism sound more similar to the Greek gods. The king of all gods is Zeus, god of thunder. In Hinduism its Indra God of rain. Those two books sounds more similar to those classic fantasy epic novels like lord of the rings. Are those good books? Yes they are good to read and give us many valuable life lessons and morals...but they can't actually be 100% real. The author of these books aimed to give people life values, not to literally believe in "kingdom of gods". But like a lot of people take it literally and forget logical thinking and blindly believe in it. Forgetting that those books are intended as a message of life values, not to be taken literally. The spiritual side of Hinduism and the concept of "living a better life" sounds more akin to Buddhism though, so its not surprising that both of them are closely related. I have nothing against that side of the Hinduism though. Its the part where, "If you don't believe in Mahadev he'll make sure you'll be unlucky in your life, because he is quick to anger, controls your life and can destroy it" kind of thing that my parents kept telling me that I find ridiculous.

Abuse is exactly what sent me on my faith crisis and liberated me from the Christian religion. A man only needs to absorb the Patriarchal concepts and subtle (and not so subtle) degrading themes toward women to be well schooled in Narcissism and Borderline Personality Disorder traits and tactics. Healthy relationships hinge on mutual respect, equality, honor, and reciprocity. Autocratic and authoritarian relationship dynamics are always abusive in one form or another. No benevolent God would create such a framework for abuse to thrive.

There is another way. Give them a Bible and get them to read it in it's entirety. Discuss with them the morality of God, particularly the old testament. Have a chat about how God drowned every person on the planet apart form the 8 that he chose to be spared. Discuss God instructing Moses to send his army to attack the Middianites, slaughter all the men and boys and the older women but to save the female virgins (36,000 of them) for their own pleasure. See how they feel about God instructing that an unruly child should be stoned to death or likewise a man caught working on the sabbath. See how they feel about a woman on her wedding night if she fails to bleed and cannot prove she is a virgin should be handed back to her father for him to stone her to death. Talk about genocide, slavery, rape, murder, all the things God either does, instructs others to do or condones and then ask if they believe all these things to be true. If they are not true there doesn't seem a lot of point in worshiping him but if he believes that they are true ask why they would choose to worship such an entity.

kokinahikari bc a relationship with God isnt like a relationship with your husband or wife, it’s a relationship with God. if you want a comparison it would be closely represented as a father and child relationship but even that isn’t a perfect comparison. he’s a also a judge. also in the video it says “if you don’t have a relationship with me and do what i say i will make your life a living hell” i just wanna explain that real quick. it’s not God’s fault we end up in hell here’s why. so if i commit a crime and the judge sends me to jail. is it my fault or the judges fault that i went to jail? clearly it would be my fault bc i’m the one who broke the law. now apply that to God. when we break Gods law there’s consequences bc he is the perfect holy and almighty judge. Jesus death on the cross is what saves us from hell and building a relationship with him but if we don’t have a relationship that’s not why we go to hell
@Ircy2012

@@taylorbrianna6573 I'm glad that you specified it's not a perfect comparison because no sane father would burn his child in an over for a finite transgression. Specially considering the child is quite frankly too limited to trully understand what they did and the action of burning them would not help the child grow but would be nothing more than retribution. Doesn't make god look any better though. You know what I think a better description of the relationship between god and men might be? "A slave owner and his slave." or possibly "A child and his toys."

chris pearson true. This video actually left me feeling very sad because i know that it is true of many other churches, but i know it isn't true if mine so wanted to share that in the words of an apostle of the LDS church. I didn't really chose the best quote but here is a Link to a talk that is very relevant to this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Pf7obe-vs6s.html To be honest I'm beginning to despair that anyone in these comments sections are open minded at all. The moment they hear that I'm LDS the go on about how I'm not Christian or based on a fake book instead of actually addressing what I Believe and am taught by the LDS church. Every religion includes 1doctrine and principles, 2organization (or lack thereof), and 3actions taken by the individuals who claim to follow it. If 3 or 2 are contrary to 1 then 1 cannot be blamed. People who try to use the bible to justify slavery or concubinage are in violation of the new testaments principles of treating all humans as equals (because we all have infinite potential in the eyes of god). I am more than willing to believe that people here have been wronged by religious institutions or wronged "in the name of god". But that does not mean that god teaches such oppression. The "worst" thing i can attribute to god is the genocide of the child sacrificing religion, but even that was a strategic move to prevent further death and suffering.

Man. I don't have that many words because you hit the nail on the head. I was physically, sexually and emotionally abused throughout my entire life, and it seems this abuse has followed even after I've cut ties with my family. Whenever I turned to God, I experienced much of my childhood all over again. Overwhelming guilt for things I shoudn't have had to feel guilty about, the sense that I was nothing without God and that God never approved of me so I was always nothing, and the dreadful idea that no matter what I did, I would somehow be destined for hell, anyway. I didn't feel that my own life, body and self (I don't believe in a "soul") was mine anymore. Not when I walked with God, and not when I walked with my parents. Now, I'm a full-blown atheist and believe that I am full control of at least THIS life. I don't know what happens after death and I no longer care. I don't want to know. If I go to hell, I know it was nothing I ever had control of in the first place; if God wanted to send me to hell even after I converted, then he would, no trial or anything. So I choose to live fully in this life, do the best I can to be an ethical person, and be happy with what I can control.

There wasn't happening much... There were only two scenes, which both were very similar... The message could be said to be nice, because the priest actually tells her that she should not leave her husband and try to rebuild their relationship and talks about great things God did. Which are great tips and great things, right? Someone, who wouldn't know about which video I'm talking, could say it's probably a nice, but boring film. And here I am. Mind-blown by how the simplicity of this is making way for the actual message. I have never thought of this that way. I of course thought about God being often stupid, awful and just plain evil. But never about him and his whole cult being the abusers in this kind of context. It's a great video. Simple, calm, heart-breaking and mind-blowing. Thank you for doing it, DarkMatter. It means alot to a person that went through domestic abuse and now fights with it once again. 😊

This is a great video and spot on in every way. When I was 12 or so, I overheard my mother and other adults talking about ( gossiping) one of the elders in another congregation abusing his wife physically and how the wife left him over the past weekend. It struck me because I was taught to think Jehovahs Witnesses were the "true" religion and its followers did not do such things as domestic abuse and all the other bad shit that "worldly" people did . And this family was very admired by everybody: beautiful wife, very handsome dad, gorgeous kids.Dad is an elder in the congregation and mom is a devoted mom. Even as a child I questioned, so I wanted to know if she could divorce him, even though JW teachings only allowed for divorce in a case of adultery.I asked my mom and in her usual lazy way, she told me to ask an elder. I chose my favorite elder and asked him, and the answer I received was no, wrapped up in a lot of fumbling words and circular logic. I remember it like it was yesterday and that event put water on the seeds of disbelief that were already there.

(a battered woman sits in a prosperous middle-class home, holding her head down. her left eye is almost swollen shut, and her expression is utter sadness. the sound of deliberately broken objects and thrown furniture is clear and constant. with every sudden noise, the battered woman cringes and flinches) Abuser: *in loud, angry voice, as he tromps around the house his points are punctuated by smashing things* You think I don't see what you do? I'm always watching. Always! You're all screwed up, damaged goods. And you know what? I was slumming it when we met. We're in totally different leagues, and I thought you'd at least appreciate me. But you don't! You don't deserve to be in a relationship with me. But I'm willing to make the relationship work, I always have been. I'm willing to forgive you, OK babe? But, you know, you gotta show a little remorse first. I know what you are deep down. I know what you are because, let's face it, you're not the sharpest tool in the shed. So maybe, for once in your life, you should just stop and realize that I know what's best for you. And look at you. God! You're so ungrateful! Do you have any idea how much I've sacrificed for you? And look, remember, I love ya, I really do, but if you actually leave me after this, I swear to GOD I'll make your life a living HELL! And believe me, I don't want to do that. But it'll be your own DAMN fault, so don't MAKE me do that. You know what your problem is? You let other people and things get between us. Screw your job, screw your friends and your messed up family, stop listening to them. It's either them or me, bottom line, I should come first in your life. Stop letting everything else get in the way of our relationship, you hear me? Maybe you should just cut them out of your life. Remember what your life was like before me? You were nothing but a slut! I straightened you out. Just think about how much better of a person you'd be if you just did what I fucking told you to do. Listen, you need me. Without me, you'd be so lost. You'd be nothing. I'm all ya got, and I'm all ya ever gonna have. (as the abuser rants, the camera zooms out slowly through the 1st story window of the house, until the house is in view from the street/sidewalk and the abused woman is just a black slouched outline. the abuser's outline walks back and forth across the window as he rants) Woman: *stands up runs out of the house* Abuser: *runs out after her, shouting from the porch* Wait! OK, OK, stop, just stop Linda, listen, I'm ok, ok, I'm sorry, Linda, please, I promise it won't happen again, come on, don't do this, please! I swear! Linda, I'll never do it again, ok? Linda: *runs into a Christian church (Protestant, by the simple cross on top [Catholic churches use Crucifix, shows dead Jesus hanging on cross]) and sits with her head down in the preacher/pastor's office* (as the pastor talks, the camera zooms in on the black outline of the abused woman slowly through the 1st story window of the church, until the abused woman is in view. still battered and hanging her head down) Pastor: *in quiet, calm voice* I'm sorry you had to go through that, Linda. Some of our flock volunteer at a battered women's shelter. Let me see if I can find their number... But... I just want you to take comfort that the LORD is watching over you - always. He won't give up on you, so don't give up on him. To do that, would be a tremendous loss. We're all sinners, Linda. We're all damaged. Even though god is so far above and beyond us, he is still willing to take us in. Appreciate that! We don't deserve it. Even though we're not worthy, god still wants to have a relationship with us. Isn't that remarkable? All he asks is for your repentance, and he will forgive you. He knows everything about you, even the number of hairs on your head. So he knows what's best for you. All you have to do is listen to him. The LORD sacrificed his one and only son for you, and he did that because He loves you, and he doesn't wan't to see you go to Hell, so don't reject him and force His hand. I think you, like many of us, let worldly things get in your way with your relationship with God. The LORD should come first, before friends and family. Only He can turn your life around. Only He can give you meaning. We all need god. Without Him, we're lost. We're nothing without god. He knows it all to well. He even had to wipe us all out once in the Great Flood, as it says in Genesis. But He felt great remorse, and promised to never do it again." Linda: *closes eyes, head still held down, with the same sad expression still on her face* (screen displays text: Abrahamic faiths [Judaism, Christianity, and Islam] resemble domestic abuse so well because they're both rooted in power and control through degradation, dependency, and fear. This is antithetical to benevolence.)

Jeez, this is something I've thought for years, that the god of the bible or whatever other religion is like a domestic abuser, claiming to love the follower yet the follower must walk on eggshells at all times for fear of setting off that god in a fit of rage and endless punishment, demanding that the follower must love him/her/it/them more than any family member or their own child or even the follower's own self when in reality the follower doesn't really feel love but instead intense fear. And threatening a fate worse than death if the follower ever leaves. Religious people often talk about having a "relationship with god"...is this really the kind of relationship they want?

Noskal Borg: And still, that message of hopeful faith is in complete contradiction with what the god of the bible (and his schizophrenic half Jesus) and the churches that preach that faith demand in the absolute submission of the believers. Numerous times over the years I've seen believers say (or heard of this story through others who dealt with believers), "Without god I am nothing," which is exactly what a domestic abuser makes the victim feel. Look at John 15:4-6, Psalms 16:1-2, and Luke 14:25-26 which basically wants the follower to hate everyone else, including oneself and one's own life, in servitude to the abuser.
@noskalborg723

00Skyfox you misunderstand the bible. But i can't really fault You for that. The devil gad centuries to muddy the bible itself not to mention all the misinterpretation in "creeds". We are joint heirs with Christ Romans 8:17. If christ is god and we are heirs with him of what the father hath, then we are heirs to godhood. There are conditions to receiving that inheritance. That is the conditional eternal life (define life here in biological terms [not just medical terms]). Immortality and paradise are conditional upon accepting them. Paradise without Eternal Life is very literally damnation; you can only gain a certain amount in paradise (still wonderful stuff just not eternal progress).The suffering of Hell is eternal in quality not quantity. Oh and we are relatively nothing. Compared to God we are nothing. And while we have far more potential than animals, even they still know god.
@00Skyfox
@00Skyfox 7 лет назад
So, exactly which of the hundreds of versions of the bible are people supposed to read and get truth from? Or are they all muddied by the devil? Your god sure seems extraordinarily weak and impotent to not be able to prevent the devil from screwing up all his plans, leading people into evil, ruining the scriptural message, and so on. Why do you continue to believe in and worship a deity that is to ineffective to even qualify as a deity? He reminds me of Milton from Office Space.
