Nice bit of winch action. Both synth and steel cable have their places. The snatch blocks i prefer to use are the type with the built in swivel hook and the two halves swing apart but also use the same type as you. Ta.

with the snatch blocks, I recently converted to synthetic line and I’m completely amazed by how good they are. Also got a few of the doughnut type snatch blocks with soft shackles and they work amazing with synthetic line never had one break you do have to watch when you let tension off and back on again sometimes the line can come out of those winched out perfectly Ben

Nice to see a winch job. How do you quote for that when you haven't seen the location you are going to have to recover the vehicle from? Do you just do a fixed recovery fee/distance then an hourly addition relating to your extra time?
@SleafordRecovery
@SleafordRecovery 8 месяцев назад
Hi mate, I ask for lots of pics and usually from experience can tell how long it will take, I also factor in travel time and whether it needs onward recovery, sometimes it's just a case of pull them out and then they drive on their way. But I suppose it's just experience really.

Bloody deers, the last year seems especially bad for them, had a couple of encounters in the last few months since August, one down the High Dike at 5:00am ish taking mum and her mate to Stanstead, luckily a good 100 yards ahead but it was misty and I didn't see it til it was in the middle of the road, thankfully it kept crossing, and the other more scary one was on the A15 near Culverthorpe Walks turning, where I usually turn going home, was after footy, so maybe just after 6pm not long before clocks changed, so was getting pretty dark, 3 of them, on the opposite side of of the road running away from me, honestly never saw them til I was virtually on top of them and saw a big brown arse, was thankful I was already slowing down and passed them without incident. I do prefer that back road, other than it being fun, coz usually I know exactly where they are likely to to be. If you've been down there, you've got that dip after the farm in Culverthorpe, there's usually one or two on the right by the black railing fence,, usually where there's a load of pheasants too, and then on the left in the verge as it slopes down on the first bend after the Walks carpark they usually walking at the bottom along the hedge line, where as the High Dike they can cross anywhere.

Surely using the right kit for this type of job would make the job quicker and more safe for you a simple set of brothers to have a straight pull would of saved time along with a 2ton snatch block with swivel hook and doubling up the cable would of put less strain and more power to where it was needed. Wouldn't of needed a side winch at first with a set of brothers in place or if wanted to do a side pull do a side pull with whole car sideways instead of pivoting casualty. Don't mean no malice what so ever but safety and time is imo highest priority. As with lane closure it looked a fast road (above 40mph?) Possibly national speed limit? Always get police out to do lane closure better safe than sorry with the added protection. Like I say I don't mean no malice by this comment but safety first especially working on the road's. And also would a tilt and slide not of been a better option just incase the rtc turned out more damaged than first thought ie wheels snapped off by lamppost etc. Keep safe keep up the good work and look forward to the next video.
@SleafordRecovery
@SleafordRecovery 8 месяцев назад
Hey man, no need to quantify the malice, all good. Brothers wouldn't have helped it sliding down the bank, I have a set of brothers, I also prefer a solid loop rather than a J hook which can and do fall off bottom arms. Closing the road/lane, Lincolnshire is a very spare area, the A52 is between Notts/Lincs and from experience I know both forces argue about who owns/polices it. Therefore we'd have been waiting 3 hrs+ for a copper. It was a straight road and I carried out a personal assessment, judged it to be OK to continue, it's my liability and my insurance, and I'm happy with my choice. As for the snatch, I agree, to an extent but also I should have just put the block on the other side, the initial pull wasn't too forceful but the third pull was too much for the block. Lesson learned. Thanks for commenting though, much appreciated.
