ACL Prehab Jumping Exercises This episode of ACL prehab is on Jumping preparation and motor control which is important as we prepare to run. In this episode I covered the progressions from static balancing too different hip ankle and knee motor patterning skills to acquire. I Specifically put emphasis on developing a good hinge, squat land and jump/skip in this video. Please keep in my mind that the progressions get harder as the video goes on and my patients Have to have mastered the skills at the beginning of the video before they move on to the next skill.
Some of these skills such as the hip hinge are not necessarily important for running however it is important for when my patients get back into the gym and are performing their weight training program. Similar for single leg squat having an adequate squat pattern is quite important for running but also for having a strong foundation when getting back into the weight room/gym.
After you suffer an ACL injury it is important that you take some time to let the knee rest. Most knee effusion (swelling) will settle within 7-21 days depending on the severity of the injury. During this time it is important that the knee is checked for any fracture and the presence of any meniscus or ACL injury. The meniscus is the major concern and NOT the ACL as the meniscus cartilage's health is very important for long term knee function. Once the knee has settled however and no immediate surgery is needed to preserve the meniscus we can get into our prehab!

I was really discouraged a month ago when I first saw this video, but last week, at 10 weeks post injury, I could finally start the jumping! I'm grateful to have this video, thank you.

This is for Prehab correct? Before surgery. I just tore my acl 2 weeks ago and am waiting to get surgery.

Many people can get back to jumping in prehab! However make sure you have a physio take a look at you and give you the right advice. this may not be the best for you if you have meniscus involvement.

How much timeline if one started this workout... How much time it will take to jump??
@AxeRugby

like many things it depends. some people in 1 week will progress because they can control the movement. if you struggle dont progress. if your knee gets sore quickly then regress to any easier version.
