I love your flip-flop strokes. It's funny bc when I took a class from you, I could feel that flip-flop become a tiny bit more natural. You are an excellent instructor and gifted artist.

Thank you so much 🥰. You definitely got the hang of flip flopping when you painted the seascape in Atlanta.

I really, really love what you are doing. It looks soooo easy, but I bet it's rather difficult for a beginner. Love your accent, too.

Hello Maz, thank you so very much for a proper mottled background tutorial. So many artists take short cuts using sponges or rags or stippling techniques. They are fine, but I want to learn the proper way to do it using brushes. This is what will make me feel like a real artist. And, in this tutorial you demonstrated how to paint using brushes. Thank you very much. I did look at your academy. I have 2 concerns: the price and that you teach using 3 kinds of paints and I am interested in only acrylics. I.e., if I were to join the academy, it would be only to watch the acrylic tutorials. I don't know if you are interested in creating a third, even less expensive level, for acrylic tutorials only. Thank you.

Thank you for your comment’s & suggestions. I do try to tell my students that all my oil classes can also be done in acrylic too. I switch between both to demonstrate this to my students. Just because I teach in oil you can follow along using the same colours in acrylics. Hope this helps.

Hi , just a question, a lady said to me a while ago that she puts her main subject down first then paints the background .I asked her the reason why and she said that when she paints her main flower it would be difficult to get the brilliant colour as the background would be difficult to cover . Love your art 👍
@MazArtStudio

thanks - we all approach things differently adding a background on with acrylic and painting around the subject can leave hard edges - however when I am using oil I often do the main subject first

You can also paint your subject white first, then your colors will be more brilliant.

Hi I want to change the background on an existing still-life painting I’m wondering if I can use this technique. My painting has a black background and I want to change it to grays greens. Do I need to paint it solid white first and then do the blending technique? Thank you.
@MazArtStudio
@MazArtStudio Год назад
I’m assuming you’ve done the first layer in acrylic and if so you can simply paint over the background using as many layers as you need until you have the colour. There’s no need to paint it white first unless you are dramatically wanted to lighten the colour.

Why aren't you using your blending mix for this please?
@MazArtStudio
@MazArtStudio 5 лет назад
I did the background in two layers so I knew I would get a good coverage plus I used enough paint (heavy loaded) on the brush which meant I didn't need to worry about the gel. However, I did add some gel to my brush (as I have shown in other videos) to the paint when highlighting the flowers - hope this helped.

I do not like that pallett is never shown, color mixes not shown. This is why I would not take one of the courses on website. This is more of a watch me paint video.
