2015 vw Jetta shutters went out. $2000 later they are fixed. How much fuel mileage did it save me over the life of the vehicle??? Not $2000 I’m willing to bet. BS!!!!!!
It may sound good on paper but in real life, the little time it saves to warm up and fuel savings are not worth the complexity and cost of these devises when they go south.
My gauge is right below the H is that normal but then the shutters open and comes down I’ve never had it overheat , or the warning come up or the check engine So is that normal?
Umm wax melting. Perhaps on a dial safe thermostat. The spring in the thermostat expands and contracts regulating the amount of coolant flow through the radiator
P059F code 2019 Nissan Altima. Shutters were halfway open when parked. After start up, they fully cycled open & close several times, then remained fully open. Hot day and the engine was already warm. For what it's worth, had the same code about a year ago. Disconnected and reconnected electrical harness. Terminals were shiny new, no obstruction no damage. Code went away on its own. When it came back recently, I assumed it was the same issue and did not check it for a couple weeks. When I finally checked it, I found half a styrofoam cup holding the shutters open. Any ideas?
@@800game No. The gears that moved the shutters were stripped, so the position sensor knew it was not operating correctly. Replaced the shutters and problem SOLVED!
@@800game Thought I answered this. Sorry for the delay. I ended up having to replace the shutter as the gears to the motor were stripped. The code went away and has not returned! 😀
Seems like this is common point of failure on the 2019 Altima. I'm currently dealing with it. Several similar posts on various forums for the 2019 model.
@@coomercove Not sure why, but NOW my previous answer appears. Last comment, it did not show up. Hmmm. Anyway, what you say makes sense as mine also failed at low miles/age which surprised me. No doubt there's some sort of design flaw.
Great explanation. However it is just one more crap thing that can and will go bad and cost people money to get repaired. Every time we turn around something else is added that can and will break and cost money to fix. What ever happened to the term (KISS) keep it simple stupid. Less crap on the car that can break the less it will cost to operate.
Got my shuuter damaged and then replaced by a new one. The new one was faulty or installed improperly. As a result i have a shutter always closed and a check engine light always on. Because of the check light the remote engine start is not working
@@yangtroy1having the same problem with my 2019 Jetta. Mechanic wanted $600 for the part and $150 for labor. I ordered it online for $250 and he will install it when it gets here in the next few days. Are you saying you had yours fixed and the check engine light came back on? Worried about potentially having that same issue… these freaking things.
This is a solution looking for a problem. Putting more crappy plastic parts on a car does not make it more efficient. It just costs more to repair. The few drops of fuel saved are wasted shipping this crap over from china.
