Gere does appear to be quite genuine by Hollywood standards anyway. I've observed and listened to him in various interviews and I continue to hold that view.

I never understood why with as talented as Richard Gere is and with as many stellar performances as he has been responsible for, that he has never received an Oscar nod.
True although he has a "Golden Globe award" for his performance in the film "Chicago" which is at least something. You can see Richard Gere winning the "Golden Globe" on RU-vid, he was so happy that he had won.
Gere wasnt even nominated for Officer and a Gentleman. Gossett Jr. the drill sergeant got the Oscar and Debra Winger was nominated. Maybe Hollywood doesn't really like him, he probably doesn't play by their "rules" or something like that.
I was once eating at a truck stop restaurant in Albuqerque, NM when Bugs Bunny wandered in. He ordered a carrot salad, then signed a few autographs. He was spilling some gossip about Daffy Duck, when of all people Elmer Fudd burst through the door armed with a shot gun. He said he was looking for a wabbit. Hearing this Bug's bolted out the back door with Elmer right behind him. We heard a couple of shots and then silence. We all just shrugged and went back to eating our breakfasts.

Gere is a bit of an outlier in Hollywood but for my money hes easily one of the best.His films from American Gigolo to Arbitrage are almost always great.Hes a total pro.If nothing else he will get a well deserved Career Achievement Award from The Academy eventually and he will recieve a very long standing ovation from his peers.

the fact that people still make a big deal about 'celebrities'. i'm so over it, long ago. he's a grandpa dating a chick 33 years younger than him. if it were the other way around, it would be a constant 'thing' the world would keep pointing out.
