Actual Proof the Professional Difficulty is RIGGED in the Resident Evil 4 Remake

I truly believe the Professional difficulty isn’t ridiculously hard. Having played on every single difficulty, I can confidently say that Pro and Hardcore are very similar. However, the inconsistencies, the enemies teleporting, pre-throwing or pre-grabbing are very annoying. And if the game can also choose to have the occasional and quite convient bug preventing you moving forward, it is a terrible design. Not only are you punished for playing well but the reward you do get in the end will most likely not appeal to you.
Nonetheless, I enjoyed the game as a whole and truly believe this difficulty needs some tweaks (especially on the stunlocking or I-Frames sides)

So, longtime RE veteran. I have some news for you, and it's called the "Adaptive Difficulty System", which RE first had in OG RE4. I'll explain it in brief: Depending on your difficulty, you have a variable rating to the ADS, lower difficulties like Assisted tend to be rating 1 through 3 range, but start at 2. Standard difficulty, 4 through 6 (starts at 5, naturally) and Hardcore, which is 7 through 9, starting at 8. It may also include 10, but I'm reserving that for Professional, which would be only 10, no matter what. In simple terms, the better you do, the more your 'score' goes up, and the reverse, getting your ass handed to you lowers it. And it's both big things and little things, like scoring headshots increases your score, but missing shots lowers it. Dying is a big one that drops your rating nearly by a whole rating. So, within your difficulty's range, you may notice the AI changing on you; for example, I recently did a run on Assisted to do Silent Stranger, and by the time i got to the castle in chapter 7, the AI were beginning to duck when I aim at them. A trait the AI doesn't do unless the ADS is about 3 or 4. Meaning my Assisted range was maxed out. AI was starting to apply evasive tactics against me because of how well I had been doing. And of course, higher up you get, the harder things go... Except for Professional. Which is maxed out on the ADS at all times, by design. It's "range" is only 10. No ups or downs in score will change it. Which is why it may feel outright unfair or inconsistent at times.

Going with that logic, i guess that would explain why in hardcore mode the Horde in the house was so dammed difficult! I died 15 times where i hadn't died until that point in the game. I was about to rage quit until suddenly it was easier, just enough. Even the game threw me more healing items and better ammo drops. It was ridiculous

I don't know if professional doesn't exactly change, or at least change enemies depending on performance. Recently I did my very first professional run, my performance in gameplay is usually average, I wouldn't say I'm bad but sometimes I make a lot of mistakes. This is all to say that during my professional run I was having a bit of trouble during the helicopter sequence, I'd died about 3-4 times, and on my last run through the area with the gate section and switches, upon activating one of them I noticed that the brute enemy didn't spawn, whilst on every other occasion it had. So I wonder if there is some difference in that 10 rate for enemy spawns at least.

Yeah that bugged me in the other remakes, I hate adaptive difficulties in games. You should be rewarded for playing well, not have the game cheat behind the scenes to artificially pump up the difficulty. Edit: Firstly I disagree about it not considered cheating on the part of the game. If a DM quietly decided you were doing too well and fudged the numbers in their favor behind the scenes, or teleported enemies around willy nilly, would that not be cheating? Second, I disagree about it making players "Git gud" in response. You can't really plan or get better at dealing with random bullshit. As demonstrated in the video, he played smart and skillfully but was fucked over because the game blatantly cheated or broke. Was he just not good enough and should have anticipated a chainsaw enemy would teleport behind that door? Or that an unavoidable regenerator would suddenly become unkillable? No that's ridiculous and no fault of the player, the game just randomly fucks you over.

The soldiers are screaming "¡A cubierto!". It basically means "to cover!" as in "^[Everyone get] to cover". They scream that because some of them are firing at you with the machine guns and rockets so they are prematurely alerting their comrades to be wary and not approach you, as that would result in them falling victim to friendly fire.

My favorite part of professional is not having enough ammo to save ashley in the water room when she's turning the wheel to raise the platforms. Edit: since making this comment I tried my hand at speed running and have cleared the game at least a dozen times on professional. Ammo is not a problem, if anything getting one shot, and getting bad RNG is lol.

Yea, I finished my Hardcore run a few days ago and it was so bad and frustration filled that I pretty much don’t want to play the game anymore for a time, and has basically made me want NOTHING to do with playing it on professional, and sad part is because almost all the unlocks are tied to speed running the game, I ended up getting a B rank on my run so I didn’t get jack squat for finishing the mode, absolutely hate the way they did unlocks in the remake.

@@Qballiz2kool Same! The perfect knife parry rule is a bit intimidating. I’m trying to speed run assisted, you get an accessory that increases melee damage. I can only imagine what those swarms of godforsaken Beatles do to you in professional.

In the Original you had a moment of invincibility and a opening to move after being damaged. (Besides flails and garradors that can stun lock leon) This design choice is questionable and no i-frames after performing traversals is just outright bad.

Not only do you get zero i-frames when jumping through a window etc. but the enemies have priority and if they're ANYWHERE close to Leon when attempting to interact they'll make him stumble by just touching him (not even pushing him). Really obvious in the Mercenaries mode in the Village map, happens all the time.

I thought the parry Times were pretty good, it forces you to concentrate and tests your reaction speed without you constantly spamming parry button. A few enemies can be parried and dodged easily but then you have annoying enemies with shovels and pitchforks who are the worst. Don't even get me started on the fkn dynamite enemies

It's called game rank. Miss a shot, it goes down. Get hit, get killed etc.. it goes down. Make your shots, get kills don't get hit. It goes up. Up means difficult, down means easier. Professional and maybe hardcore are forced at the top notch, without being able to go down.

It's not just professional difficulty. The village has something similar to COD zombies where enemies respawn *AHEAD* of you so you can never fully herd enemies into a choke point WITHOUT the risk of getting attacked from behind Edit: Now that I had time to think about it, their are a lot of enemy encounters in the game that have a few enemies spawn BEHIND you (like when you first meet salazar for example) to punish you for focusing on the ones rushing in the front

yes you can. I found it. Go to the fenced area with the single crate. enemies cant go behind you because they cant climb that fence. they will only come at you from the front. That's where I noticed that the bells are triggered once you kill a certain amount of them because it was triggered so damn fast xD

I suspect the glitch we see with Ashley and the enemies quickly sliding around is part of whats goin on. If the characters aren't visible, they can move and navigate however they need to and be in more challenging positions by staying close to the player. Their system seems a bit agressive and its noticeable in lower difficulties that once you have enough resources, the game forces you to spend them somehow.

Yeah its a Dynamic Difficulty adjustment system to present ups and downs to the player and is entirely manipulatable similar to what was present in the original RE4. If it works the same way it means on Profession the dynamic scaler is always locked at its absolute highest. With the Chainsaw in the village it gets kinda finicky though cause there are context sensitive triggers that will teleport the chainsaw man to specific locations, like if your grabbed on a certain side of a support archway the chainsaw man will be teleported there to play out the scene where he cuts down the supports.

@@azure98 What I'm trying to say is that the dynamic difficulty system is really noticeable on standard. Once you have hit the requirements, some enemies feel like they are using a gameshark and then after enough damage has been done or enough resources have been spent they go back to kind of sauntering around. The game felt better to play on professional because it seemed more consistent, but by the time I had played through it on pro I had played through a few times on the other difficulties so I could have a weird bias where when I first played it I was just that terrible. lol.

Honestly, just given the fact that that is a famous Hollywood horror movie trope (like Friday The 13th's Jason appearing across the way in protagonist's sight ahead, protagonist turns around and runs, around a corner, throws open a door, and it's Jason in front of them), it makes sense to do in an unfair, but devious way. Yeah that is just normal enemy spawns, capcom placed them there on purpose. I did 8 playthroughs and played on all difficulties and the spawns stay the same. I agree it is kinda scummy to place enemy spawns behind you after you already cleared said area.

In my opinion, the regenerador was definetly a bug. I don't see any reason why Capcom would think "hey, lets make this enemy impossible to kill, it will be funny". The fact it couldn't be staggered (and seems to not even react to bullets on its body, let alone not getting staggered) makes me think the death script just failed somehow, and it became stuck in a "dead" state (hence why your attacks didn't trigger any response), but also didn't engage its death animation, and so stayed in its live state. The Dr Salvador teleport however, is just complete bullshit, and I am pretty sure is just the game decided to teleport him. Could still be a bug, but I hardly see what could have caused that, unless he would have SOMEHOW gotten stuck or out of bounds, but I don't see how that would have happened, since I honestly haven't seen many bugs in the game (most of which is just glitches).

yeah, definitely a bug, it looks like the game has some problems with updating an enemy's health when it's in the middle of an animation. Sometimes you can blast a magnum shot up one of those "plagas head" and it deals no damage because it was in the middle of the "coming out" animation

I think the salvador thing is a semi-bug and the way I see it is that he can be spawned in (technically just teleported from somewhere else on the map) through certain events. 1. Too much time goes by or you kill too many enemies and he comes through the gate. 2. You go into the house and barricade it while he breaks down the door (most common). 3. Maybe he can spawn in that specific building as well. If he can spawn there then there is a chance that the game assumed he did not teleport properly because there was no line of sight or proximity so he was able to be teleported a second time. But that theory all relies on if it’s a spawn point

Yeah when I was playing on Pro, I had Salvador pop out from around a building like a planned event in the game. Previously he was way across the village, because I was running the enemies around trying to save ammo. Dr. Salvador was the only one that kept randomly being places he couldn’t have been logically, just to cut me off and catch up.

It's not random, it's more intentional bullshit made to appear as random, or IBMTAAR for short! :) That said, though, it really does make sense in a Hollywood horror movie trope kind of way. Dr.. Salvadore is very much a 'turn around and run from him, only to find him in front of you again around the corner' Jason/Texas Chainsaw Massacre type.

I have literally seen enemies spawn out of thin air right in front of me, like 4 at the same time, in professional, I initially thought it was a bug but now I'm wondering... EDIT: List of every area this has happened to me: - the initial ganado swarm at the village in chapter 1; - the bridge connecting the farm to the house in chapter 1; - the canyon area where you go to get the crank in chapter 2; - every area with enemies around the lake in chapter 4; - the main lobby of the castle when you go back there and there's a red guy with a lantern; - the indoors fountain area of the castle, where there's a bridge you need to lift at the end; - the upstairs area in the island where you go after using Ashley to open a door and a bunch of enemies appear, including a crawling parasite and a regenerador

@@user-vn5sz9fv3c I had similar happen when i went back to do the painting egg request in the castle's throne room. On my way in, passing through the doors, i noticed a stutter, and did a quick turn, only to see the formerly empty room was now occupied by hostilities, and had to open fire. I was playing on Assisted to farm for money and spinels. 3rd run of that file.

This happens 100% of the time in the canyon area, on the ridge leading up to the Ruby and the crank to open the gate. The enemies simply don't exist until you run up there. It's goofy as hell, and i imagine they did that so you don't snipe them beforehand.

My biggest issue with the game is that it spawns enemies behind you. The game is already so good with the majority of its encounters and balancing I have no idea why they decided spawning enemies behind you was a good idea. It doesn't make the game scarier or more tense, it just pisses me off when i thoroughly clear and area, an encounter starts and then I'm grabbed from behind when I had my back to a brick wall.

The encounters are actually rigged as well so it's not good balancing. The system works in certain parts of the game where if you kill some enemies, more will spawn. Then you kill that wave, even more would spawn than the first. It's actually taught now to not kill many enemies for the sake of doubling the next wave of enemies. It's such a great game.

@@fluidwolf Tip: always watch out for your health bar popping up seemingly for no reason. It pops up when near an enemy in stealth mode or when engaged in combat with an enemy. An example I can give is chapter 2. I had just completed the valley with the dynamite Ganados. I was about to reach Mendez’s house. It’s the part where a chainsaw Ganado is waiting to ambush you. I was walking up towards that area, no enemies in sight. Suddenly on the bottom right corner of the screen, I see Leon’s health bar pop up. I utilize the quick turn and sure enough I see two fuckers trying to sneak up on me. So I recommend always watching to see if your health bar mysteriously pops up for no reason if you’re looking for indications of enemy spawns.

Finally someone sees the shit I’ve been seeing. Have you encountered these BS moments in Professional mode? 1. You shoot the grunt enemies with fully powered Killer 7, Broken butterfly or 500 (handcannon) and they tank the shot, transform and kill you? 2. Fighting Delago and you steer the boat to dodge all the wreckage in the lake but some how still hit it. 3. Leave the Regenerator 3 rooms back because you broke line of site but some how when turn around he’s there like freaking Michael Myers? I think they made Professional mode like this by using AI. Kinda like the AI from L4D where if you’re doing to good it decides to screw you over.

I hate fighting Del Lago in hard and Pro cause you can only hit the boat around 2 or 3 times before death and it takes so many shots, sometimes it can go smoothly sometimes its a pain in the ass. At least in Hardcore for the stun and melee it was like 3 pistol shots for the most part, I stopped bothering to melee in Pro cause it would take anywhere to 5,6 or more headshots or knee shots for a stun even with a full power blacktail

enemies spawning off thin air has happened like 3 times to me I hope that with new patches, they add Iframes to a few of leons actions. Pushing buttons, kicking barrels, jumping fences, stabbing downed enemies and starting to climb ladders have either inconsistent Iframes or none at all. Stabbing a downed Colmillo is extremely dangerous if there is another one around, you can easily get rammed by one mid animation, take dmg and die after finishing the stabbing animation. Getting gangbanged by enemies who can drop your life from 100 to zero is very annoying and feels pretty unfair, seeing how agressive they are and that they can start an attack from metters away. I have also gotten very little "detras de ti imbecil" (behind you idiot) in my runs, at one point i thought they took the line away, but its still there, they just will rarely use it when behind, which was a great difficulty buffer in the original resi 4. The game is still fantastic, but little annoyances can pile up and sour the experience, specially if you do what the game tells you and start a new game on hardcore if "you played resident evil 4 (2005) before" Thats a bad idea. Both games use different rules and trying some of the old tricks will absolutely get you blasted in the remake. I encourage any new player to play on standard or even assisted to get the hand of the new mechanics, and switch to hardcore when they feel confident enough.

the s problem is a real one, it was my biggest gripe when I started playing the game, until I got used to no rely on it, I would do certain actions that in the original would give me s consistently, to protect myself from something, only to find out that it doesn't work, except... when it does decide to work. Maybe they decided the parry in conjuction with reliable predictable s would be too OP, I still don't like inconsistency though.

@@fenix_tx_1342 even as I got used to it, I just booted the game up to test a few last things, the major problem is without s the game will cause Leon to collide with an enemy but they didn't actually ensure that Leon would simply get pushed back to where he was. You can actually get hung up on terrain and take massive damage, give enemies tremendous time to home in on your position... This isn't really acceptable to me, because it only shows massive negatives. The developers were willing to make sure things on the game end work properly, but for players, Leon floating in mid air above a fence is a happy outcome. Most exploits on the player side of things are good, because typically it won't stop the player from playing the game. Watching Leon hover helplessly over a window pane I was trying to jump over is just asinine, I can't interact with that but I can, in fact, experience death sequences that cannot be skipped as a result. I mean, the Reach for the Moon team are absolutely bad at action, but these are very amateurish mistakes and they only have negative implications across the board. They are things you can "get used to" but you can't actually stop a lot of this stupid shit from happening. Because you'll often find yourself in situations that have unreasonably bad strategic value. The things you both should do and want to do are run up against stupid design decisions. Getting stuck on a window wasn't the problem, the problem was that there isn't really fun or favorable outcomes in, say, the opening village battle if you're wasting ammo and resources. The run and gun shooting is nerfed so it's just a matter of wanting to spite the player for being skilled, but skilled in specific ways. It's absolutely insane how unwilling these designers were to account for and accommodate other solutions and playstyles. It makes the design of the game open to massive negative criticism.

That chainsaw man one isn't just professional, it's on lower difficulties too. I remember getting it on my first playthrough. I don't know if it is a guaranteed spawn or not and can't be bothered to test it, but i have a feeling it is and is intended as a "jump scare". I've heard of people using it to get multiple chainsaw guys in at once too so they can kill multiple for the drops they give.

I had it happen on the demo before release. It's absolutely a scripted moment the devs put in. In fact, in the demo, you could get a TMP that way if you climb down the previously closed grate after Salazar destroys the pillar and opens it up. I'm assuming that was something that was for an early build cause the TMP isn't found there anymore when you go through that area to get to the church after the tall building collapses.

Just a theory, but something I have noticed about the chainsaw guy is that he teleports around due to the "Scripted" scenes where he cuts the overhangs down. Behind both of the houses you were just in he will trigger those scenes so I think the game auto teleports him over to them depending on which way or how fast you get to one. I had him teleport from the center of the map to behind the shotgun house to trigger his awning scene where chops the pillars down even though he was 50 feet behind me because it's just something the game as coded to happen. There are also enemies near those awnings to always attempt to grab you to trigger the "Hold Leon while the chainsaw man comes at you, but it's easy to break out to make you feel scared" moments. Hope this might clear up that part at least.

To be quite frank, it's not a skill issue, if that's what you believe. The AI cheats and the game will work against you at all times, because that's how the game is designed. If you read other comments, every issue they are expressing is a gameplay issue with either Leon's shit mechanics or the abysmal, cheesy AI.

I ran into one of the unkillable regeneradors in the area where all the body bags are that they fall out of. I kept shooting him with rockets and he would just get right back up and walk towards me. This has to be a bug.

There is undisputedly an adaptive difficulty modifier running in the background. That much is clear. Personally I suspect its a bit too aggressive with how it works, if you've saved up 100s of bullets eventually the game will force you to spend them, no matter how good your aim is or how upgraded your guns are. Mike in the helicopter section also seems to conveniently forget to shoot anyone when you have an excess supply of supplies. There's other things and its all just weird enough to make me think that its unintended consequences of having something that can affect the game in real time, like an adaptive difficulty modifier would, no ammo here, stronger enemies there, getting grabbed more often and etc etc. I personally despise difficulty when it just gives the AI cheats, but this is like giving the whole game cheats.

This is the one thing I hate about the re make. Every difficult aspect feels artifical. On profesional I just avoid going for kicks entirely. I once kicked a Ganado directly against another and the second one just ignored the stun and one shot me right after the kick finished. In every part of the game eneimes will hound you down no matter what. If one spots everyone is aletered if they can path find to you they will come. In the bingo section eneimes will just sit still on the outskirts for no reason. They only exsist to block the conviently 1 enemy sized pathways. The Garadors who supposedly only track sound will charge straight towards you regardless of where the sound occured. They seem real good at pin pointing your exact location for being blind. The JJ replacement brutes took 5 point blank shoutguns slugs to his head, to stagger ONCE. Eneimes can half health you or lunge at you in 2 seconds. Yet it takes upwards of 5 pistol head shots for a stagger. On proffesional not only is your knife durability descresed across the board. Killing one enemy on the floor breaks every none upgraded knife. You're supposed to save ammo but knifiving is entirely useless and every enemy is a bullet sponge. Common enemies will just no longer die to rifles. On hardcore every headshot is a one hit kill, aside from a plagas. On proffesional it's take 2 to 3 which just makes every rifle a slow resource hog. Ramom and Saddlers acid spray attacks give no telegraph whatsoever and happen so quickly it is near unavoidabke damage. Samething with Menedaz throwing wood at you. You just have to guess where they will go. The acid attacks in particualr will just straight up stun lock you into a insta kill. You're just meant to, with no dodge button or parry, magically avoid an arena wide pro longed attack with no telegraph that deals damage in about 10 frames. Also regenerators are just overall a nightmare to kill. No scoped weapon staggers them consistently meaning killing a single on takes up to serveral minutes. I had maxed out scoped smg. The best one in the game. I dumped the entire clip into an Iron Maiden heart in his head. All of 30+ bullets were head shots. Did even stagger once or gave any hint if taking damage. This is after multiple shot gun slugs to his head also. It just grabbed and one shot me.

Something the Remake does that isn't actually explained, same as the RE2 remake, is that reticle bloom does have an impact on your weapon's performance. It doesn't chance actual damage, (At least, I haven't seen any evidence of it) but stagger and critical hit chance are affected by how tight your crosshair is with pistols, SMG's, and the BB. Surprisingly, the laser sight is actually really helpful, particularly for the SG09 and the Sentinel, since it also means they maintain max critical hit chance, even when moving.

I sorta gussed something like was happening but still that was a mechanic I hate, so I hate that they put it into this game. If you can hit multiple headshots in a row with recoil, bloom, the enemy moving, etc. You should be rewarded. Not punished. Sitting still and waiting for easier shots is boring and takes up more time. It works in the old games with tank controls because every enemy moved very slowly, in re 4 remake where enemies charge you in half a second that style of gunplay does not fit IMO. It makes the early game feel awful, your pistol does jack all damage and no CC. On proffesional your best bet is too just run past everything not required. The combonation of that bloom mechanic and eneimes just being more hard to stagger at base, brutes taking 5 shoutgun shells, it makes most of the combat with pistols or smgs feel awful. They're not even worth upgrading till late game.

My favorite bullshit that the game suffers from: - get a stagger prompt - get to do a kick - while in the final frames of the kick a ganado rushes towards me - I know what will follow since I am still in no control of Leon - I get grabbed immediately after the animations finishes giving me no opportunity to counter attack. The system is bullshit and unfun. At least in the OG I knew what to do and when I am allowed to do it. I-frames inconsistency, heavy and muddy controls and Leon recovering from attack for about 6 years, because "muh realizm". I just want a fun rewarding gameplay, not a broken loop where I am out of the equation without a chance to counter.

So, for the Dr Salvador spawns, yes the game really is just spawning him in different places. There are multiple areas in the village opening where you’ll experience that, and this happens in hardcore (I haven’t tried the lower difficulties yet). This is done to both challenge, but primarily scare the player.

I finished the game on hardcore first try, had no issues. Went to play professional afterward and found it... Weird. Had some weird stunlock situations. Had plenty of instances where everything was going well until I got stunlocked and killed, so I just quit without second thought.

Bro, it's blatantly unfair - it's actually a painful experience and just not fun. Everything's going smoothly until one parry misses (it's like these pitchfork-wielding bastards can't be parried) and you get triple/quadruple stun-locked and the run ends. Sometimes, Leon gets hit and it takes him 4 weeks to man up and snap out of the daze. Fucking ridiculous. S+ Pro is driving me up the wall.

Shoutout to Capcom for basically removing stun in Pro mode. Really fun and fair to have my handgun become effectively useless as a space-making tool. (That thing the original did beautifully, making even the handguns feel powerful) I'm just getting the cat ears and running through with infinite ammo. This difficulty doesn't deserve my respect imo. The "challenge" is basically just the game screwing me with RNG and making everything an unflinching tank- And in a game where you, on average, fight 6-8 enemies? Huge problem. OG somehow has snappier, more responsive combat when it comes to just shooting things. I'm disappointed, I hated the bullshit meme difficulty of Village of Shadows in RE8, really sad to see that they basically just did that again here.

This might sound condescending and I don’t mean it to be but my favorite part about this difficulty is that not everybody can complete it. Only elite players will be able to S+ Professional. Sure you can cheese it with the Sweeper and Handcannon but it’s not going to carry you like people think. It has to be hard so that elitists who meat ride the original can’t say it’s too easy. This game is much harder than the original and I love it.

I believe remake has the dynamic difficulty like the original and I too have experienced teleporting chainsaw enemies and not just in the village but with the twins. I've also seen enemies randomly spawn in directly behind me like they dropped out of the sky to try and pincer me in and then throw in the plaga 1-hit ko ones too.

With the first one let me explain why he was in that particular room. He teleports. I did this on hardcore difficulty and the exact same thing happened to me. In the original you can go into that house, shoot a hole through the door and then just knife through the door until the bell rings. Thus bypassing the entire sequence. This time around they didn't want you doing that. In the original that room was a dead end, there was no window that allowed Ganados to enter the house other than through that first door.

That does not make any sense. The mechanics are completely different in the game. You can longer do any of that chesse it simply will not work. They solved the problem by adding in the window do why would they need to also teleport him. He teleports because of tge new adaptive diffuculty. Not because pf some grugde against decade old cheese strats.

It's scripted so that he teleports if you try to go into that house in an attempt to cheese the encounter. Adaptive difficulty has nothing to do with it. I know its because of the cheese strat because the first time I entered the village on my first playthrough that's what happened to me. It was Capcom throwing shade because that was my plan the first time I got to the village.

I haven't played pro yet. But from what I have seen and experienced . There is a seperate.chainsaw spawn in the grenade house. I had the same things happen on my 1st run. It is kind of like how you can get at least 2 chainsaws to spawn if u run for the gate, take down the 1st then prompt the cutscene on the shotgun house. I've wondered if it's possible to spawn all 3 if you ran for the gate, got for the gun and then go your route for that 2nd grenade. I think u can get around the spawn by going in the window of the grenade room, but I am not positive on that.

1:20 problem is I don’t think you can/should always assume you can run past enemies. I got stun locked very fast just by being swarmed even on standard. But I agree with the unfairness. Even in standard there were SEVERAL instances where enemies teleported right behind me or covering impossible distance in short time.

I can agree. I think capcom designed it this way intentionally to encourage the parry mechanic. Either you shoot a genado in the head and perform a kick or perform a parry and a kick to get a opening to run past. However enemies don't consistently flinch on higher difficulties so your best option would be to execute a perfect parry which is very strict to perform. The stun lock is definitely annoying and unfair... The teleporting enemies are very common when one-shot enemies are within the area, especially grappler enemies.

Obtaining an s+ rank on professional has to be the most difficult task I’ve ever done. Everything is rng base, they obtain the combat knowledge of Johnny cage, and chapters one to six is a total nightmare. That’s if you even have the Chicago typewriter and do every merchants requests up until the Comilos part. But with the power of luck and tears, I finally manage to get the cat ears! Now it’s just a matter of time grinding for the p.r.l 412 when mercenary’s comes out on April 7th!

Regarding Iron Maiden at 7:30, have you tried to shot him in the face with the shotgun to make his head blow up? I noticed that usually after this the additional parasite could be spawned in his head.

regarding the one with the regenerator, I think it just glitched. I noticed that you shot the last parasite mid-animation. IIRC, regenerators don't flinch when they are mid-animation even if you shoot a parasite, i.e. when they are mid-animation after flinching from a shot to one of the parasites (sorry for my english). Please correct me if I'm wrong as I am only on my 2nd playthrough lol. Maybe somebody can do an experiment on this.

#1 is absolutely intentional. Chainsaw man teleports around to make the village fight more "cinematic". I'm pretty certain it happens on lower difficulties too but people rarely notice since nearly everyone just grenades/shotguns him to death immediately on those difficulties. #2 actually looks like some sort of bug. The Regenerador never transformed into an Iron Maiden like he was supposed to. I 100% agree with you that Hardcore and Pro aren't particularly fair or fun, but I feel like these specific examples are more incidental bad design that make the Hardcore/Pro experience worse rather than bullshit that's CAUSED by Hardcore/Pro.

#1: Yeah, I feel like it is. Designers are going to throw things in like this just to keep an experienced player on their toes (talking about the original.) They know where players are probably going to head. #2 is a bug. I haven't heard of anybody going through professional mode and being unable to kill a Regenerador due to being unable to locate and kill the final parasite.

I had a run where I was getting the Dynamite with Luis, and was running up into the building where the switch for the drawbridge and the lady with a chainsaw was. I see the *other* chainsaw ganado on the right jump down from the mine shaft as I was entering the building. Killed the chainsaw lady as I entered with a Killer 7, flipped the switch. Then prepared to defend the doorway. There is a staircase behind the switch that leads down to one crate and a barred door if you remember. So I knew it was locked, was going to bottleneck the other ganado into the open door on the second floor. When suddenly, Luis runs downstairs and guess who is attacking him? The Chainsaw Ganado from outside just a second ago. I finally managed to kill it and nearly died in the process being swarmed by ganado with torches and dynamite, only to discover that he did not break down the door downstairs and it was still locked. Meaning the developers literally set the chainsaw ganado to just teleport to the most inconvenient places the player is hiding in.

Wait, so dr. Salvador can be spawn twice in the game within the village right. or is it a glitch? It happened to me in the game as well as in the demo. There are two that can come after you. I was running around the front of that house that you can enter and Salvador comes out of the house across from it. the one shown in the video where the guy got killed as soon as he opened the door. as soon as I saw him I ran back and into the house and got the cut scene of salvador showing up again. I hear the chainsaw and go through the house grabbing everything that's there. but when I made my way back outside I see salvador coming through the barn past the cow and towards me. I killed him. but I could still hear the chainsaw going. that's when I noticed the other one was inside the house on the 2nd floor. but the bell rang and I was left all alone. so wouldn't this explain why it seems Salvador pops up in different places. Because there are two that'll spawn. One after you've kill a certain number of villagers and the other if you enter the house.

I did face the exact same situation you described with the chainsaw guy at the start. I was so surprised he was there because just like you i was convinced he was still in the other house. I did prep my s+ pro run while playing hardcore mode, i had a good strat for every chapter and i was pretty confident. But when i started it was my first time playing pro and i faced so many situations where the enemies were not acting how they do in hardcore. As you said, its non consistent and really unpredictable. I finally got my s+ this morning with a 4:32hrs total time

These are facts. I thought RE2R was two steps ahead of the player. This games is 10 steps ahead. I was just playing Resident Evil 4 remake on professional difficulty, and it took me two hours to get out of the ballroom. They were spawning those god damn bugs nonstop. Now I am in the next room with those two prisoners and they keep getting slayed because Ganados keep coming. I love the game, but I don't think I could finish it on professional.

So I've had that problem with the regenerator past the one you talked about, twice I've had it where they just could not be staggered. Unable to blow their limbs off, I think it has to do with shooting them to early after they spawn if that makes sense

The regenerator issue was definetely a bug, i'm on my 4th professional run and that has never happened to me. On another note, my S+ run everything that could've gone wrong did and I still got it, its not impossible to get even when things go bad in professional, but it can be very frustrating, you just can't play the game normally, you need to be extra careful because the mobs are ruthless, if two get too close its pretty much a save restart. Also, funnily enough I think that speaking spanish gives you quite a upper hand in some scenarios, the mobs actually help you when they talk 😆

I finished this twice on pro. Enemies definitely spawn and run behind you super fast at random. Especially in areas where you need to fight off a ton of enemies. Basically just don’t stop moving in those areas and keep checking behind you.

I would say that they appeared to be slightly tankier on professional (maybe 5% more over Hardcore) But if you are familiar with Hardcore already, it should feel almost the same. The big issue usually comes from not being able to parry most of the time and being brought back to the latest typewriter upon death

I have come across a bug where Leon gets staggered out of nowhere when you revisit the village for the 1st time to go to the church. This has happened to me on enough runs (almost exclusivly on a VERY good run) where it becomes infuriating. It almost always leads to me being staggered immediatly after the fact by a real enemy which also tends to lead to a unfair death. It usually happens after jumping through the window in the cabin leading to the church. The animation that occurs is the same as when the tower explodes. I think it has something to do with the exploding tower as that's the only time during the game this happens when it does occur.

The easiest way to do the opening village fight is literally to sprint around in circles and shoot anything that is directly in front of your path with a shotgun, or grenade a group of enemies straight ahead of you. Never stop moving unless you absolutely HAVE to for some reason.

Runners suggest to often look behind you when you are chased to despawn enemies or simply « stop » the enemies from chasing you. When you leave the camera behind Leon’s back enemies won’t stop running or will spawn indefinitely behind you so you have to look back to « stop » the process. And yes, imo it’s a bad decision to do things like this to make a game more difficult.

I noticed this aswell and its very common during a fight with any one-shot enemy. The game will occasionally teleport a grappler enemy behind you that will hold you in place for a chainsaw or plaga 2 to one-shot you. I believe this is intentional by capcoms part to encourage a more hit and run type of play and to eliminate the campiness that the original had. It's still a bad choice, because it can cause your death and it's completely out of your control.

@@michaelkuhn8853 Yeah, RE4 Remake is something I associate with the Remake team's inability to reconcile wanting a survival horror game while having to address the clearly ACTION based sequences that occur within the Resident Evil Series. Resident Evil 2 is standard, fun Survival Horror resource management, learning movement notwithstanding, the major test of the game is to use items effectively. Going by the JP versions and the later US versions that put auto aiming back into the game, aiming isn't an issue. The fact that manually aiming to make the game harder and "rent proof" is something that Hideki Kamiya even talks about during Carcinogen's RE2 special with him, I want to say that this is something where I feel the Remake team just isn't able to reconcile fairly testing the player. If you have the Sparkshot in RE2 Classic, the reward is that it will be effective based on you pointing and shooting it at your target. You don't spend the time with it in your menu, unable to use other items, and then get put into a boss fight test where things the game is assumed to use to make itself "more tense" suddenly step all over your feet as you're tested on a precision boss fight where your character isn't precisely tuned. That's not a fair test, that is breaking player trust to me and the major thing is that it hurts the perception of action games, which Survival Horror games like Resident Evil ARE. So when you have the Sparkshot in RE2 Remake, you have to aim, you have to deal with Focus Shot, you have to deal with enemy movement. Regardless of whether this can be learned, it is incredibly shitty to subject the player to this on top of resource management. It makes the game feel like, and honestly I think the way that players talk about "Yeah I S/S+ Ranked RE2-3-4 Remake" that this is precisely the effect, a chore. In RE4 Remake, they apply these same ideas while trying to use, often 1:1, set pieces from the original Resident Evil 4. But Resident Evil 4 was fairly consistent about being a test of marksmanship, that was the big turn from classic Survival Horror Resident Evil to that point. The escalation in the story partly represents the fact that Leon can AIM, he can aim precisely. There's literally a firing range in the game! Resident Evil 4 Remake, and I think the firing range is a great example of this, introduces inconsistency. It introduces RNG so as to make it so that, in some designer's mind, you can't "Trivialize the game." But that wasn't trivializing the game, the fundamental skill was MARKSMANSHIP. Despite some of things that haven't aged well, managing your resource of ammo was about shooting effectively. Now you have a game that front loads all this difficulty while simultaneously abandoning this core test. Focus Shot actually makes the Firing Range in RE4 Remake random, vs a genuine test of precision. Being told to use the TMP which you cannot aim precisely to begin with... this is something that was knowingly put in the game to ensure that the player didn't use it during a speed run without risking huge time loss most likely... But the consequence is you've achieved this by sabotaging the test. Instead of changing the game in a fundamentally interesting way, the designers of the various games, RE2, 3 and 4 Remake just cheat and don't really do their job well.

In my opinion aiming in the original re4 felt tough but it was something you could easily master and after enough experience you can trivialise the enitire game with just marksmanship. I feel the new direction they want to take with the aiming does not feel like it can be mastered like the original, because of random elements namely bloom. Bloom ads RNG to your shots, anything that is a gamble is not a test of skill but luck instead. The shooting range portion of the game I find it "too strict", because the score ranking demands you to be near-perfect to achieve an S rank but with some weapons especially the TMP...the power and control of the situation is stripped away from the player and replaced with random bullet spread. For the most part i find Re4 Remake too be alot of fun, because Re4 Original still is a fun game if you catch my drift. The gameplay i have mixed feelings about. On higher difficulty levels: Enemies won't consistently flinch after being shot, the parry window for a perfect parry is too small and very risky vs safe hit and run tactics (Game does not encourage me to go for the parries), Enemies will somehow teleport behind you if a one-shot enemy is in the area (This could lead to your death and is a situation the player has no control over), Traversals don't have i-frames and leon gets stunned way too easily and can sometimes be stun-locked till death. (Another situation the player has no control over) Something else that caught my attention was the El gigante fight. This entire fight is based on positioning and repositioning every few seconds, however El gigante's attacks cover a distance that Leon cannot strafe or reliably run away from on the higher difficulties. Giving enemies more health, damage and hyper armor wasn't enough...they are given a speed boost that is faster than most of Leon's movements. The difficulty of the game feels like a huge mess and rigged with RNG. Not providing a suitable test of movement, resource management, marksmanship or skill...i have beaten the game 8 times already and with all that skill and experience i still get pushed into situations in the game that strips me of my control. I'm sad primarily because this is an age where developers can patch games, but what I see for Resident Evil 4 Remake, most likely, is a promotional life cycle where I'm meant to help celebrate the game, contribute to its sales and then move on with my life... as the game remains, as you described it, something that is frequently infuriating and always stripping agency away while putting the player in situations that only appear like fair tests of skill. It definitely strikes me as a game you're supposed to play "the right way", but the developers were more concerned with me playing the game the way they imagined vs making a game that is fun to play.

Re4 remake is not a bad game, if i had to rate it on all it's flaws it would be about 6/10... My personal rating is 8/10 because of my love for the original that got me hooked on RE games from the start. Capcom might not have any intention of balancing the difficulty of the game...they are too busy watching "RE4R is a masterpiece!" Or "RE4R is the greatest game ever made!" on RU-vid instead of listening to the die hard fans.

I just got my first S+ on professional difficulty today. There are those times where you can get stun locked and I definitely noticed enemies are more likely to chain 2-3 attacks if you miss a parry you will be heavily punished. But knowing that and respecting it definitely kept my shotgun out to consistently stagger enemies so I can just get past them and not risk the grabs when there's others near by that may follow up on top of it

Removing checkpoints was the one thing that made me despise this professional mode. Considering the game also doesn't prohibit you from just backtracking and saving in between "waves" of any particular room (for example, not-water room), it just made for extra busy work and frustation. Sure, they needed it for the S+ rank requirements, but because of it, I can't just play it casually on that mode anymore, compared to the original. As soon as I get the handcannon, I'm never touching this difficulty again.

Ok so I know a RU-vidr who's actually a game dev and reviewed this game. He really likes the Remake and loved the OG. He played on Hardcore and was also curios about enemy behaviour because something seemed kinda "off" to him, due to him always being able to predict were enemies were in the OG but this didn't seem to be possible in the Remake. So he used a cheat engine to inspect what's happening behind the scenes. What he discovered is basically what Djisso is suspecting in this video. Enemies, when they're not in your FoV, will either enter hyper mode (zoom after you as if they were sonic on steroids) or flat out teleport/spawn out of thin air. Mind - this was already happening on Hardcore so I'd imagine it being even worse on Professional. Regarding the unkillable Regenerador: I'd say this is just an unlucky bug which can happen in games. The fact that it happened on Prof. and at this moment is just really unlucky but I wouldn't read more into that tbh. I mean, in the OG some Regenerador on Prof. had Plagas on their backs, so you had to either get behind them or shoot their legs so they fall on their stomach in order to shoot those plagas on the back. IIRC you couldn't even see the "back plagas" from the front side with the bio scope. Granted, I was expecting this to also happen in the Remake but didn't encounter it in any of my 3 playthroughs thus far. So it might either be really rare or just not in the game.

In my Minimalist run on Standard, I found I could avoid killing that guy: lured to the furthest corner, then while he was still at walking pace I ran up to the door and managed to open it fast. Or maybe he sped up since he was wounded? Either way, that was definitely a sucky glitch.

The heart-less Regenerador thing happened in the OG RE4 as well, at least in the PS2 PAL version of the game, I've seen it plenty of time in my countless playthroughs, however, this one in the remake seems to be a bug, as the OG one could've been killed and staggered easily.

In my playthroughs I've noticed that there's 3 different chainsaw man cutscenes for this bit. The one going into shotgun house, one will come through the door back to the huntsman's lodge if you try to go back, and one comes toward the eastern section where this guy was killed. It was likely that chainsaw man they saw. This was something I noticed in Standard and Hardcore so it's not limited to Professional.

I vaguely remember my first profesional run in the original RE4 where Regenerators would still have health even after blowing up all their hearts. Couldn’t do anything but unload till it died, I’m guessing it’s the same situation here.

Weapon Damage is effected as well. I got all my guns damage full upgraded before defend cabin. pistol , shotgun ,and rifle. Lots of cash spent. However it take 5 shots to kill the parasite head with pistol. Or 2 2shot with Shotgun or 2 shot with rifle. When it emerge. I feel like the game boost there life to adjust to my weapons damage. Then enemy damage is a instant kill. pro with chicken hat with half a full bar. The highest HP you can get before defend cabin. Hit once and dead. I had 6 full recovery item in inventory. Was hit with axe across room. The arm on that guy.

Hello the saying you say you commonly hear on chapter 15 is “A cuvierto” which humbly means take cover and quick tip: it’s usually said when an enemy is going to throw either an explosive or a Molotov, hell I think they also say it when shooting the MG’s. Same goes for another saying heard throughout the game “a yi va eso” translates to “take this”.

I'm on my NG+ Professional run right now, chapter 8, 3 hours in. It an't too bad on NG+ and I know if I get past the double Garrador room I'll have an easy path to do the rest of the chapters quickly. But I'm looking to get all in game and Steam achievements and I'm absolutely not stoked for a full new game Professional run for the S+ rank. I'm gonna have to employ a lot of the skip and glitch tactics I'm seeing from speedrunners. Again, the difficulty in and of itself isn't that hard on paper, but having already had a few moments where Ashley got in the way during my current run, that's the stuff I'm dreading the most. But I get the feeling an even harder difficulty might be put in later which will be far worse. If you played the demo enough times you probably saw Mad Chainsaw Mode. I'm guessing that mode might be added in later where enemy placements and numbers are changed up, head bursting Plagas are introduced from the start, every variation of Salvadore is the one in flames and every Regenerator transforms into an Iron Maiden. I'll just play that mode "casually" with my bonus weapons and infinite rocket launcher if it ends up happening 😅

I feel like getting a +S is way to difficult. And I say that as a person who started on hardcore and beat it the same day. It took a lot of effort, I didn’t rush, I had the. Day off so I spent it playing the game and one thing that messes you up is how weak the pistol is when you start. I’m not excited to start on professional either because unlike the original professional felt like a challenge but not the point it’s impossible, this version it’s almost quite impossible unless you do use those skip tactics. Which I’m sure capcom didn’t intend for people to get a S+ by skipping anything, whoever made this game played through it and was able to achieve a S+ without skipping anything and that’s crazy to me that is even possible

The asset for the burning Salazar isn't used in the main game but was in the demo, so it's either gonna be seen in Mercenaries mode or a higher difficulty or both. I still don't think Professional is that bad aside from Ashley screwing up a couple of my runs in the castle so far but it does seem tailor made for the speedrunners. I'm sure there's glitch free/skip free runs of NG Pro already on RU-vid. I'll go look for them.

First one seems rigged 2nd probably a bug. From my own play throughs I have had several times where I check for enemies behind me only to be grabbed from behind as soon as I turn back around to shoot someone else. The game is definitely unfair at times.

I think the programing is made to just kill you sometimes on pro. I noticed it a lot in several areas. One of which was with enemies who throw dynamite. At random points in time a stick of dynamite will either float and follow you and blow up just in range to knock you to 1hp or it will randomly spawn under you with no indicator (sound, blinking, or the stick even being thrown in the first place) and just instantly kill you. Multiple times I would be running around trying to get this to happen and I would just blow up in an explosion of blood with no explosion from an explosive period. Another thing that happened quite frequently is enemies going through doors while they were still closed as well as through walls and even instantly moving to the top of a ladder right after climbing onto the first rung. One of my favorites is when I would get a stun off and be in range for a melee or stealth kill and right after pressing the button the enemy just turns around and instantly grabbed me. I swear the enemies teleporting and just sliding insanely fast if not in sight is true as well. I tested this by running along a path I know there were no enemies in front and watching the enemies behind me. Where before if I just faced forward they would be right behind me and while watching my back they would be lagging very far behind and out of nowhere I'd get grabbed or hit from in front where I no longer had visual.

I just finished my s+ professional run today. I was in the saddler right and got to the cutscene where he jumps sway and the platform falls. It cut back to me already about to hit the death barrier falling.

Hey Djisso. FYI. I started my first playthrough with standard mode and I was in the similar situation that you're having then the chainsaw man teleported too . I guess this isn't apply to just prof mode like u think

The Regenerator has to be a bug, which might have happened due to some issue when you shot the final parasite just before he grabbed you. RE4 and its remake have always been games where killing every enemy is not only possible, but expected of you, and there is absolutely no way to precede in going through that door with the regenerator/Iron Maiden still alive.

The professional difficulty is nowhere close to being hard as it was in RE3 and the final Jack Baker fight. The final nemesis boss and jack’s final form can hit you regardless and one hit on inferno mode is a one hit finisher

I finished RE3 on Inferno and IMO that's not a good comparison because the last boss (Nemesis) doesn't actually work; that part of the game is broken/unfinished. The developers never patched it and I don't think they ever will.

Could it be that the final parasite is on the back and you have to knock it on the ground or get behind it to see it. I remember that happened in the OG RE4.

Idk if that regenerator is a bug BUT I do remember in RE4, sometimes the last plaga was on his back side, and shooting it was nearly impossible from the front. Maybe this is what happened in your case but not being able to blow it's legs off with a grenade seems annoying

They definitely teleport enemies. I was doing the part with the Eagle Plate after you get your items back. I jumped through the window in the bottom right house assassinate the Villager and suddenly three enemies spawned right in the room with me. Lost the run to that. One thing they could've done in this game is at least let Leon shove enemies; everything they do to you makes you stumble and stagger but a guy who can make 30 ft jumps unharmed doesn't know how to push someone. The random enemy health also infuriates me. It makes it feel like upgraded damage ends up doing nothing in a lot of situations.

This is the most frustrating thing about the remake to me. In the first cutscene you literally show me Leon killing a man with single roundhouse kick, breaking his neck. But in-game, my boy is a useless pushover without knives or ammo. He can't even stealth kill without a resource.

I guess I get it. I just finished a Hardcore run to get Ashley's Armor, and there were so many moments where I just seem to be blindsided by an enemy behind or beside Leon somehow. Now that I know the game outright teleports enemies beside you, it explains so much. I also remember that segment in the sewers where Ashley has to hold the wheel for the bridge. I made sure to snipe down all 4 ganados that came through the entrance, but when I reached the other side of the bridge while chased by a Regenerator, there was one ganado right beside Ashley to distract her. I get it now. The game bullshit teleported that ganado to throw me a curveball
