Mike! This was a great upload! I really like the back and forth you have been doing with Brian, the shots where you're talking and pass it to him in another shot or vice versa. Also it's really cool for me to see an in depth look at the color matching process. See you guys soon!
Hey brother love your videos but out of curiosity why spray sealer over 600 when u can spray over 320 I am kind of worried about adhesion because sealer over primer adhere " mechanically not chemically... so down the road that can be a point of failure in my opinion
jose m 007 you have a great point. Usually I will leave them at 400 before sealer but since this was silver I wanted to gently run some 600 over the surface just to tie up any lose sanding scratches that the sealer might not be able to bridge. With silvers as soon as you have any sand scratches that is too coarse, the metallic will fall right into it and show. Remember when doing a blend you scuff with 600-800 when and base doesn’t have adhesion characteristics, just pigment but we aren’t never worried about it peeling. The sealer has much greater characteristics of adhesion and 320 is the minimum requirement. To put things into perspective, when you blend your sealer onto a panel, usually the rest of the panel is between 600-800, you wouldn’t leave it in 320 only, right.
I would also like to see in expensive restoration clearcoats with in the akso family... that way they would warranty the job, I'm just saying because mix and match products is not something I recommend and a couple of hundred dollar more will give you not only a better result but also a peace of mind the akso will stand behind ur work
How good is that camera at matching WDP? Ever since I bought my WDP Type S the rear & front bumper are a different shade from the ASPEC Kit & the rest of the body. Part that sucks I notice it but others don’t notice it unless I tell them or if it’s someone who really knows what to look at lol
Soldier7 _ those pieces will never match perfectly because they were painted at different factories possibly with a different paint line. Also you can add the fact that plastics don’t reflect the same way as metal. If you want a 100% perfect match you’ll need to blend the quarter panels along with the bumper.
Paint Society make sense it bugs me sometimes when I see it but I like this car too much to let it go just for that lol thanks for the info & keep up the good work 👍🏽
