Take a Drive in one of the coolest station wagons of modern day. This is the Acura TSX Sport Wagon. Unfortunately Honda never fitted the 6 Speed Manual or the 3.5L V6 to the Wagon, but its K24 and 5 speed Auto do the work to enjoy this incredible chassis.

Proud owner of a manual sedan. I bought the car 6 months ago while in the market for a GTI. After driving both, there was just something about the "hondaness" that won me over. This is also my first manual car and the 6-speed/k24 combination has been a dream to learn with. The reverse wine sounds exactly like my Dad's old '96 civic :) Great car in any form!

My 2012 Base TSX Wagon only has about 72k on the clock, and lives in the garage, so it feels like a new old-school Euro Honda. It's an excellent daily driver, not for winning stoplight races of course. The K24 is refined and responsive, and cruising down to Cape May is always a treat in my unicorn. I have not seen more than a couple in the past 6 months back here....feels a bit exotic.

I currently have a 2011 TSX sedan, and I was extremely surprised with how much value you get with this car. The build quality is actually surprisingly nice and the k24 in it makes it quicker than most N/A 4 bangers, in sport with paddles you can rev it out even more and it will not upshift for you, get even more pull from it that way. And the handling dynamics, feels way sportier than I was expecting, I couldn’t be happier with it, it’s been a great reliable daily with a bunch of added bonuses that make it really enjoyable.

Got a '12 SH-AWD TL and I've loved it ever since. Great power, great handling, decent fuel economy for a 300-hp V6 of the era, all a really nice package. Got nearly 185k on the clock and apart from... a major engine rebuild due to the previous owner not keeping their oil level in check, this thing hasn't skipped a beat. Only wish it had a heated steering wheel, and the damn windshield/roof trim to not fall apart and whip rubber linings on my car at speed. PSA for those wanting a 4G TL with the SH-AWD. Ask for oil levels. These V6s have had issues with oil consumption and leaks for a long time now, and since they're getting round that age where people just pick these up without giving a shit, you can be in for a real ride if you're not careful. Even being the second owner buying this thing from a rich dude in Chicago who generally kept maintenance up with gusto, even they didn't factor in how driving with a low level even for a couple minutes can cause serious damage. Be careful out there.

I've never seen an Acura wagon, cool. My dad's car is a 2010 Accord with this awesome K24 engine, 2.4L 4Cyl but with 190 horsepower. It's not as fuel efficient as I'd like but it accelerates surprisingly strong when you wring it out as you said... V-TEC! The auto transmission is good majority of the time but sometimes it bogs down as it's trying to stay fuel efficient- you explained it well in the vid. It's surprisingly more sport tuned than luxury tuned as you also said- great handling, tight suspension but a little harsh on the bumps. My K24 has a shudder/rattle sound on cold start sometimes which Honda said is not an issue, but it's a common annoyance/occurance which many ppl reported but Honda doesn't ackowledge or offer a fix. Apparently it has to do w/ a "VTC Actuator" and the engine oil. Luckily there's been no problems with the engine or oil levels/quality over 200,000 kms driven.
@silentsniper441
@silentsniper441 2 года назад

for nearly 5 years I had a 2nd gen 09 tsx, vortex blue pearl with the same parchment leather interior, with the same tech package. I had the amazing 6spd. Best car I ever owned. Sold it with 365,000km or around 225k mi. No problems at all. Didn't burn oil. I was anal about upkeep though and did things well before their due dates. I cleaned my seats and scrubbed each inch of the seats once a year. I ended up getting a 3rd gen lexus IS and while it's great, I miss my manual every day. I also miss the fuel economy as I would regularly get 700km to a tank (premium) ~ 8.4l/100km. Don't even ask me about fuel economy now LMAO. If you are thinking about getting this car, it is a must have. Interior is nicely designed and appointed, comes with great features for its time, good on fuel, and reliable as heck - so much so I contemplated if the lexus could be as reliable as the Honda lmao. While not amazingly fast, it is more than fast enough for 90% of situations. The one thing that hindered this car (and all fwd cars) is being fwd. Absolute beast. I miss my old blue and hope she's serving her new owner well.

I noticed the textured right paddle shifter thing in my accord too. Thought it was a cool little detail

I own an 8th generation accord coupe, the tsx’s sibling, and the k24z3 in these cars bolt up with the k24z7 in the 9th gen si so what could be done is converting the wagon to a manual that comes with an lsd from the factory, add some power mods (RBC intake can be adapted to the engine, also the 9th gen si roots supercharger manifold if you’re crazy enough) and the wagon could be a proper canyon carver with the go to back it up.

You need to be in Sport mode to have full manual control. You can use the paddles in Drive, but you will be overridden within a few seconds if you don't shift. What I miss about these is that the computer actually lets you use first gear. On the newer 10 speed Acura models you have to hit the left paddle around 2000rpm while continuously on the throttle to "prevent" the upshift, and MAYBE it will let you hit about 4500 before it forces the shift to second gear (depending on traction). The TSX was the last Acura sedan that had SOMEWHAT of an analog sense of control, even with the automatic. You can rev match by blipping the throttle like you would on a true manual. They aren't fast cars, but they are fun and actually sound great. They actually did make the sedans available with both the J35 and a manual transmission, but it was either or, unfortunately. I believe sales would have interfered with the TL.

I have a 2010 sedan manual and it's a great daily. Have some parts that were exclusive to other countries that I put on, and while it definitely has some nice creature comforts, the US actually got the short end of the stick in terms of features and technology. Mine currently has 146k miles and still drives great. No real rattles or noises, even after going through being bagged for a bit. As long as you don't expect it to be fast it is actually surprising how peppy the 6MT can feel despite being underpowered. No issues around town or even merging on the highway, and the low power makes you want to ring it out often, which being a Honda is no sweat for it Also, I believe you need to keep it in Sport mode if you want it to not just automatically upshift by itself

OMG...TEDWARD. I own 2 TSX Wagons. My wife has an exact clone of your Dad's. 2013 white with beige interior and the Tech package. I have a 2012 base model in Basque Red....both under 100K miles. You are spot on with your critique. It is a great overall car and ironically I like it more and more as it is a classic analog Honda without all the nanny driving aids. Does your dad have Brembo's or did you paint the calipers?. I'm thrilled that you reviewed this car. Thank you!

Good eye. OEM calipers and for whatever reason the ones he bought for replacement came red. We didn’t paint them. Possible they were rebuilt and painted by whoever did it.

I want one of these wagons badly. Get a tune itll help a bit with acceleration and the throttle input. I didnt like my 13 tsx sedan at first especially in auto, but... i definitely learned to appreciate it. Long gears are great while on the highway but really take away from acceleration where as the 6 speed manual in the sedan does much better. Which id also love to experience. Also surprised at how well the paddles work
