Thanks for that review, clear and on the point within the vs. the 7th. The lower frequenzy is a factor for DJ, but also for cinematic music and effects. In two days I got mine. Till now I have used a 2.1 system with 7" woofers... will or can they replaced with the Adams? I hope so...

I have the Adam T8V speakers since last week. I ordered it in Netherlands on bax-shop website. Maybe my experience can help someone in their pursuit of monitor speakers. 2 weeks ago i went to Musik Produktiv in Ibbenburen (Germany) to do some testing. I listened to Eve Audio Sc207 and sc3070 which were amazing, especially the sc3070. I also listened to some Focals; Alpha 65 and Solo 6, and offcourse the more expensive alpha twin evo and twin 6. The Twin 6 sounded like honey and gold melted. I also listened to Neumann kh310 and kh120. Terrible speakers, they almost made me vomit. To be honest i could not decide. The guy in the testing room at MP was very impressed with Eve Audio claimed that it being best monitors right now. Although i have budget, i still find it not necessary to spend a lot of money on speakers. So i listened to some other cheaper speakers like Adam A7V and T8V, Yamaha HS8 and Krk Rokit 8 (gen4). To be honest, they all sounded good. I went home with the idea that it's gonna be Eve Audio sc207. But when i did some research and found out that Eve Audio had some quality issues, i then rethinked my choices. Long story short, i ordered the Adam T8V and i am very impressed with the clarity of sound and low frequencies. I understand that this monitor is build in China and i noticed the building quality was lower than of some other more expensive speakers (knobs and cabinet mdf/plastic parts) and cheaper electronic parts on the inside such as the amplifiers and the capacitors, but for now i am satisfied with this sound and for this price. Offcourse the time will tell but for now these Adams have a lot of potential.

Controls on the back panel are real basic. Not sure if this thing has an auto power daving / auto off feature, and if it does, can it be defeated, i.e. switched off? Also, Adam Audio had somehow "forgot" to include a 1/4-inch TRS balanced input jack. How weird is that -- considering that 99% of the studio monitor controllers use 1/4-inch TRS and not XLR. Whatever. I guess that is all that USD $300 will buy you these days.

I liked your review - thanks! But I have a question: What would you recommend - the T8V or the T5V plus Subwoofer?

Currently own the T7V's and T10S. Strongly considering replacing both with the T8V as I have a couple issues with the T10S. Are the T8Vs a good alternative to replacing both T7V + T10S considering it's crucial that the low end extension remains the roughly the same (producing House, Drum'n Bass, UK Bass, Garage etc.)? Is the overall tonality of the T8V similar to the T7V?
@markusrayan
@markusrayan 3 года назад
@fu J I wrote about this extensively in Adam Audio's T8V video comments ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NZHi6_2h8k8.html (pasted below) I've since resolved most of the issues using a separate speaker management system (Behringer DCX2496). This allows for complete control over phase, x-over, delays, eq etc. "... While the T7V are really good and have liked them a lot the T10S is a difficult sub to recommend. It lacks crucial adjustments to make it work properly (fully variable crossover freq. and phase). I feel the crossover freq. (85hz) is too high for the T7V. They have more than enough headroom to go lower than 85hz. But the real problem with the T10S is the really short standby delay and it takes way too long after a signal is sensed that it actually starts outputting sound. This is also accompanied with a really annoying pop. This really takes me out of my flow when producing. I really don't want to wait for my sub to turn on every time I step out of the studio and come back."
@markusrayan
@markusrayan 3 года назад
@fu J Don't get me wrong T10S is good sub if you happen to have the ideal room to set it up. Refer to the T10S placement guide in the manual. That being said the T10S is a budget sub and thus lacks some crucial adjustment features to make it work properly in a variety of rooms. Given the price point most rooms where the T10S is used will probably not be an acoustically treated professional studio but average bedrooms and such where you absolutely need those adjustments. Good luck :)
@markusrayan
@markusrayan 3 года назад
@fu J Yes you can use the HS8S with T7Vs no problem. HS8S does have variable x-over but the lowest it will go is 80Hz. Still too high for the T7Vs imho. Every room is different though and you should test how it works in yours. For proper results use a measurement mic and software to analyse how your room behaves and figure out the placement of monitors & sub accordingly. For best results use a room correction DSP software & mic. I'm using Sonarworks which I'd highly recommend.
@markusrayan

@fu J If I were to replace the T10 I would build a DIY 10" closed box passive sub with a separate power amp and connect it to the Behringer DCX2496. DCX2496 can handle the filters/phase/delays far better than any budget sub. I would build it around the Peerless XLS10 woofer in a small closed box. Nothing beats the speed and agility of a closed box sub. Ported designs always sound slow and fat to me. My go-to sub for hifi has been the BK Electronics XLS200mk2. I would use the same basic formula but passive. Hope that makes sense hah.

I can send you a photo to you email. if you pm me your email ,not sure how to send private messages on youtube, and tell me what you think I was thinking in getting the T8v But I hope they do not sound too flat and are good for listening to music and dj plus small parties in my living room. I am not planing in doing production Thank you for your reply and sorry ai took to long but I never saw your last post.

Do you think the T8Vs are alright for 1m distance and around 20m² in my studio room or would the T7Vs enough?
@Mojaxx

That’s a pretty good size room. I’d say the T7Vs would be enough in there, but it shouldn’t to be too small if you want the volume and bass extension of the 8s.

My mom's stereo from 2010 has louder, better sound than these monitors. I have to keep the knob to max and my ModX8 still sounds low. If I hit the keyboard's keys hard to make it sound louder, the monitors get that noise like if they are going to break the speakers. The build quality screams $300 each but the sound quality whispers $50. Heck, even those Sony speakers you take to the beach sound better than these. What a waste of space and money.
