Review: ADAM Audio T Series Studio Monitors | Tips and Tricks 

Mojaxx always love to hear your thoughts on new gear. Very well thought out always and you never play favorites. That's why I come back to DJ City time and time again for gear reviews / first looks etc.

I also have a pair of t7v for a year now, great sound! I use them not only for music but for games and films also. Recently I've added the t10s subwoofer and now it is absolute magic! I have to listen all my music again, I love this setup. Greetings from quarantine in Polska!

Ugh...if you're serious about mixing, nearly everything is a Rokit killer.

A+ review. I have heard the AX7”s in the show room and they sound absolutely amazing. I bet these budget Adams monitors will completely beat the competition for the price. I just bought some Mackies but if I hadn’t I would certainly buy these instead.

I did a pretty consistent comparison of these, the HS7's, KRK's, etc... in a treated room at a nearby audio store. It's hardly a competition. These were far and away the best in my opinion, both for cleaner simple signals and more complex noises, across many frequencies and different genres. For me, the KRK's were way too biased towards boom JBL was too dirty, lots of highs were lost, a problem the presonus line gave off as well. M-Audio and Mackie made decent budget lines, but couldn't be nearly as clear as the models only $50 more expensive. The Yamahas were unpredictable, and seemed to excel in some genres, but suffered with more exotic tones, screeching noisily on occasion. Almost every speaker had a noticeable handicap that made listening, mixing, and effecting my music much less enjoyable. Adam Audio has really done an outstanding job on these. Only ones that felt like nectar to my ears in the whole store. Can't wait to get a pair myself.

Seriously looking at these, I have a set of Behringer 3031A's, and although they are decent, you have to push them pretty hard to get the Kevlar woofer working. And at 240 RMS, it gets a bit noisy.. Most of my mates have larger Adam in their studio, if they don't have Genelec, and I love the sound, so crisp and nuanced.

I would have liked to hear them up against the yamahas with a reference mix. I already bought a pair but I bet the difference can be heard.

Have you ever tested the a7x. I tested and bought them yesterday but they're still sitting in the box. I'm not sure whether they're too clear for djing. Clarity was million miles the best the a7x compared to these, krk and Yamaha...

Tried these. Then auditioned the A7X’s and it wasn’t even a competition. The AX7’s are soooo much more clear. You can hear so much more detail throughout the frequency range. It made the T7’s sound muffled. After that I immediately went and sought out the AX7’s for a deal.

i’m still using my Rokit 5’s 1st gen and they still sound awesome. Give me a break “Rokit killer” bs

Adam T series is just a budget version of the A series. I would go for Presonus R65 or R80 instead. Presonus also place the "bass reflex" on the front.

I switched to Studio Monitors for my home DJ setup, purchased two of the JBL 308P MkII and playing any lossless audio format vs 320k mp3, you really hear the difference in sound quality. I would highly recommend getting quality studio monitors for your dj setup.

Since there is a passionate debate here about what monitors are the best I would like to add something: I tried a few different brands of monitors in my untreated bedroom recently. And guess what? All the mixes sucked. The bass was off, the highs were off, I couldn’t get the vocals at the right level. So if your room is untreated your monitors will not help you no matter what brand. I just experienced that and it was a great lesson. Just wanted to remind everyone of that.

Have not heard these Adams yet but had a listen to krk rokit 6 3rd gen and Yamaha hs6 at local PMT store and I am glad I did as I had a pair of Rokit 6s turning up the same day. After hearing them both I refused the delivery of the Rokit 6 and they were taken back to the seller. The Yamaha's were alot better than the KRKs, much better bass and much better mids. Saved my cash on KRKs. Near field sucks by the way!

I have the Adams t7v. the are great sounding speakers but they max out quick. They can't handle sub bass without distorting. If Only They had a low bass cut I can add a subwoofer to make the difference

Hey guys. I am among them, KRK Rokit 6 G3, Yamaha HS5 and IK Multimedia iLoud Micro Monitor . They are all around the same price. I have a Creative sound blaster Z and want to listen to music on PC through spotify. Which would you get?

Forget the yamaha hs for mixing. I've had them in the past and its almost impossible to do any useful mixdown onto them, you will get confused all the time since the response of the speakers sounds seriously uncommon, your track will sound much worse on any other sound system. Mixing feels very unnatural, i did the strangest things during mixing to fix the bad response in my speakers

How's the hiss on the T7V?

I have T7V's and they are amazing. They produce very good low 40Hz. At 37Hz you still hear them, but lower a bit. Under 37Hz there is no sound anymore. The B0 (low string on 5 string bass) is at 30Hz and also some kick drums. The A0 is at 27Hz. So I completed the system with 2x Adam Sub 8s, because the bypass is at 85Hz and I want that in stereo not in mono. Having just one Subwoofer is a huge mistake.

What is better for dj ling house techno music krk 8g4 or adam t8v? Im looking for good sound quality but for strong bass to not strong for the whole house to turn down but for me to have that boom in the room

I think what he means by Rokit killer is they are clearly one of the *most* popular lines in the budget monitor market for all around use. These cost 250 per speaker(200 used a guitar center) and can be said to clearly outshine the Rokits for all around use, Yamaha does not, Makie is not as popular, JBL is not as popular, who else has the marketshare of Rokit in the budget reference monitor market? M Audio? they don't clearly outshine Rokits either for "All around use".

The AMT tweeter is not a ribbon. Wikipedia gives a good explanation.

Great Review! Would you recommend these over the focal alpha's for a small room approx. (10ftx15ft) also which size would you recommend (t5/t7 or alpha50/alpha65)? I produce & mix (primarily hip hop), already have old Yamaha HS80M & some wall panel but get bass build up when mixing.. Any thoughts or other monitors in the same price range I should consider? I'm not looking for bass I can feel. I'm looking for bass I can hear. These go down to 39 Hz which is decent from the size and similar to the Rokit 6 G3. Did you find, despite your advice on room size, the bass frequencies could be heard well? I am worried about the rear port. The T5Vs just won't cut it so these T7Vs have really caught my attention for the price. Although my OCD might hate that db rotary not notch thing ;)

I can tell you that a very very high end Dutch recording studio has replaced (most of) their Genelec monitors with S series Adam Audio. They sound so extremely clear and detailed. With vocals it's like they just standing in front of you.

I'm glad you said exactly how many of us producers feel. The Yamahas and KRKs are for fanboys. I never understood why anyone thought KRKs were good; very bass heavy and muddy. The Yamaha HS series are somewhat shrill and a bit sharp with almost no bottom end, so produced tracks end up bass heavy. I was never a fan of either, so thanks for the review and I'll give them a look. Also check out the new Monoprice Monitors. They have 5 inch, 7 inch, and 10 INCH monitors! From what I've researched and heard from good sources, they are great budget monitors with better sound at half the cost of KRKs.
