or when they finally do start a project it takes 15 years to complete. look at the big dig in boston. I knew a few guys that worked as laborers and you wouldn't believe the storys of theft and corruption.
Not only is it a matter of "immediate gratification", but mistakes will happen and they have to be worked thru. How many times do people want to give up if a problem or a mistake happens?
Adam seriously is one of the wisest, most intelligent analysts of life and society that are out there in the public eye, and he has almost no education.. he should be president and I'm not even joking at all ps i have never come across anyone with such mastery of analogy
I'm actually really surprised that Adam is (or was) so supportive of the bullet train. Bullet trains lose tons of money everywhere in the world. After all, if the bullet train was cost-effective, why does it have to be subsidized by taxpayers? And I'm also surprised Adam seems to be inferring support for ethanol subsidies and other "alternative" sources of energy. This means government is picking winners and losers at the taxpayer's expense. Doesn't sound like Adam at all.
It could go differently for anybody. What's the point? He HAS amounted to something. It didn't magically happen, and once he got his break, he made it work. Many don't.
@prooc Get this... I moved from American to Finland and am currently living here now. The one cultural difference that I notice here is that the (equivalent of) CalTrans workers are ALWAYS WORKING. Not sitting on their asses drinking coffee, and I definitely don't see that annoying sight - the empty equipment sitting by the side of the road at 2pm on a fricken Tuesday.
Use the train $ to add a few friggin' lanes to our freeways! Less traffic should be first. Seems Cal-trans plans for todays traffic, then years later when the project is done, were in tomorrows traffic. rawr. -angry local truck driver o.O
That is assuming of course that Peace would be beneficial to humanity and its progression. I disagree with that. I find strife drives innovation and advances us too much to give it up in favor of the stagnation and eventual extinction that would come of worldwide peace.
@checkmatebtch I agree with most of what u said but whats with implying that weed smokers are lazy comes off as a little anti weed propaganda and just so you know Adam does smoke weed
@pretorious700 Meh, I don't feel like getting into "all things relative" discussion today. I'm just too tired after Christmas. We all know what "do a good job" is supposed to mean.
i get the impression that not even he knows who exactly he is ranting against. is it just "all people who don't work hard?" he lumps the worst qualities of a few stock straw men.
I don't think the train idea is a good one. Who takes a train to work? Normal people like their cars. This new "bullet" train would only be used by the people who already take the bus/metro right? How about working on our LA traffic instead?
@checkmatebtch I like Adam but in all honesty he fell into a good scenario. Before the Man Show he was very poor and wasn't going anywhere. He got lucky, nothing more. He's a sharp guy and has talent but it could have easily gone differently for him.
I hate the little audio clips the sound technician puts in to try and make Adam's rant funnier - "give me a break" and the Jetson's car sound don't make the rant better - they make it suckier.
***** I typed that when I had a chance while playing a 6 hour long playlist of Adam. I was playing a RTS with music off and listening to Adam speak(because I'm a huge fan). Out of the 3-4 hours I had heard at that point maybe 5 or 6 things stood out to me, but I don't think any were in this one in particular. I'll listen again and see if it was.
