When I was first learning ASL (American Sign Language), I apparently accidentally informed a guy I had just met "it's nice to sleep with you". Got to love unintentional puns :D
This is awesome! Glad to see AUSLAN and BSL are just as weird with their country signs. In American/Canadian Sign Language the sign for Ireland is 'potato, potato' and the sign for Australia is a kangaroo hopping. I heart Adam Hills so much! Thanks for sharing!
Actually the flicking sign for the Irish is more insulting than that. I learned sign language here in Glasgow and my deaf tutor told me that, at the time of the potato blight when the Irish migrated, they were very poor and dirty and brought fleas with them, and that flicking sign is 'The flicking of fleas from the body'... I have Irish ancestors from that period myself, and I'm not joking... The England sign actually means the English Flag... (Red Cross)...
Russell Peters' joke is nowhere near as in depth, is completely different, and is about a third the length. The only thing they have in common is the fact that they are jokes about sign language, and the fact that you say "this joke" like it's the same joke leads me to believe that you are a simpleton.
LOVE this. Ugh, Adam Hills is fab. Saw his Inflatable show in Edinburgh over the summer, he's got the best stage presence of any comic I've seen, completely comfortable with the audience and obviously having loads of fun :)
@littlebuffolow Australia used to be a colony where the British would basically just dump their 'scum', being murderers and other big criminals. It was basically a big outdoors prison.
My lot get sent down here for much less murder...vandalising some farming equipment to protest against British land grabs in Ireland and stealing some hay to burn to keep warm in winter...7 years and life...not all the crimes were big ones.
Ok, if I ever become an air hostess, I'm SO using that in my safety demonstrations ( as a tribute to the great Adam Hills, and because it's just so hilarious) xD
@Themilldude what? Im actually generally amazed at the quality of this video. I see other videos on youtube which were recorded with most likely a broken down mobile phone from the 20s. Videos like this...it truly makes me love the HD things in the world
and yet..... some of the best thing in life just are..... simple..... thanks for the reminder. i am a simple girl :-) just simply remember one of russell's stand ups and then simply write a simple and harmless comment. had not wanted it to seem judgmental or biased in any way. you had understood my comment the way you wanted to. maybe if youtube were to let us record our voices, u wouldn't even be wasting time on writing me a reply, thanks 4 your mail it's the best i'd received so far. Namaste
people... stop with the punchline comments... or ill just pause the video and read your crap. Seriously this man is a genius... those are my favourite parts too... but of the video... not the comments reel...just stop
got to say... there is some far more offensive sign language! BSL for Germany, Japan, China, Asia = all more offensive than the Ireland or Australia signs mentioned here.
Accusing a comic of stealing jokes is actually a huge insult, it's not as harmless as you may think. You did come off as being judgemental. Finally, I didn't really understand the relevance of the second half your comment. In any case, have a nice day.
I don't get the signs he wanted to represent Australia with. I think the first one was meant to be a beer can or something, but I don't get the second one at all. None of my friends do either.
@bridthescrewup I'm English and it seems rather historically accurate (though admittedly I can see the Shamrock thing too). I died laughing at the England/Lesbian mix-up. XD
I do not care about the 'video' quality. As long as it is watchable it is fine. This guy is one of the most funny men in the building yet he seems more as an entertainer than a strictly stand-up comic.
Does anyone know where the jokes about two blind people with white sticks walking into each other and having a toilet related code between guide dog and owner, are from? I think they're both Adam's...
