Neat! My brain was thrown off a bit when there was no vortex after the lock was achieved (while I was not consciously expecting it, apparently I was subconsciously expecting it). If you wanted to go to the next level, one could always put a rear projection screen with the puddle behind it - apparently that is what they did in later seasons of Atlantis for shots where nobody was seen crossing the event horizon (and once you know about it, you can easily spot it because the puddle looks dimmer than when done with a CG effect).
Or even something as simple as one of those thin mist/fog machines with some lights built into the ring shining into the mist to give it that moving feel and so they could walk through it
@@jamesborck5908actually, earth is not the point of origin. This is the Atlantis gate. So technically where ever the city is at that moment in time would be the Origin.
@@nandesu the last symbol is always point of origin on all gates and is a triangle with a circle above that’s why the uniforms have it on so no matter your destination it’s the last symbol
This is such a remarkably impressive build that I honestly forgot, even if it was just momentary, that there wasn't going to be a vortex. This is more than amazing. This is incredible!
This turned out pretty amazing. Your next step should be to add fog machines, fans and a laser show to it to make it look like it actually generates the vortex XD
If your talking about making it more accurate to the Stargate from sg1 the smoke would be a good idea, but you shouldn't add smoke to this gate because it's the Pegasus galaxy gate from Atlantis and smoke was only present on the gate in the SGC on earth.
The Stargate is going to take your floor out. I loved SG1 and SGA. I remember Jason Momoa which was his first job in show business world (I think) and the fight with Chris Judges character Teal’c was epic. I miss seeing Chris Judge on TV but he’s a games actor now.
What would’ve been really cool if you had sequenced blue lights along the inside to act as the event horizon. Still the fact you did this and added the commands for Alexa is so bloody amazing! See you back home on Earth.
As a long time fan I got shivers down my spine when the music started up and the address started locking in...well done! You should consider maybe a ring of LEDs around the centre of the ring and a very light smoke machine might simulate the vortex opening but then you'd have to figure out how to create a shield to stop it vaporising your couch 😅
maybe tiny fog machines to try to fill the center portal and some kind of light array to color the fog in a mesmerizing way- fun stuff, that looks like a lot of work!
If you can figure out how to blow steam out of the sides to mimic the Destiny gate, that’d be sweet. Spinning the whole gate might be a little complicated though 😂
Naw I never liked the steam. Only one I ever loved was the spinning gate. When I first saw the trailers. The spinning gate convinced me to give it a shot
The only way to make this realistic is to add a plexiglass, or something similar, inside the ring of the gate, with led lights at the edge to simulate the gate effect.
oh dude that was awesome I am a huge stargate fan ever since I was little and hopefully that stargate will be returning soon I'm getting exited anyways thank you for reading my comment peace out.
it appears to me to be perfectly accurate. the symbols themselves transition around the gate, the symbols emerge in inverting directions from the previous symbol, and a symbol will skip the chevron if it is only 4 symbols away, and complete an entire rotation of the gate instead. the only issue i noticed was the slow symbol movement, but i wouldnt label that as "inaccurate". also, if you're possibly referring to the point of origin, i believe the one used in this video is the same point of origin used for New Lantea. given that the gate is dialing New Athos, this would fit correctly into the show timeline, because the Athosians had already migrated to New Athos by the time Atlantis moved to New Lantea.
@@voxeltek6624 Yeah, other than the speed of the glyphs and the fact that they should have started the moment the dialling began (0:25 - everything dials and glyphs don't begin until 0:29) it's pretty true to screen.
Great work! Looks like you are living the dream! Next add a fog machine and colored lights and a loud Poof noise to appear after Cevrons lock!! OR you could add a white screen behind and project a puddle onto it from across the room. Awesome either way!! What you have done is an achievement regardless!
Pretty cool! You can add a light strip inside the groove in the ring and an acrylic pane with a watery engravement that would go from transparent to lit up and shimmering.
Stargate and its spin offs are some of my all time favorite Sci Fi TV shows. Right up there with The Star Treks and Star Wars shows and movies. Truely Iconic!!!!!💫
The only thing that could have made this better, is a hologram of the sideways whoosh of the unstable vortex. This is so cool! I'm totally nerding out right now 😂
Wow! That's fan dedication there! I love Stargate SG 1 and Atlantis (watching Atlantis on Pluto TV right now)... But the only wheel I'd like to get in my house is a cat running wheel! But would be funny to have the Stargate sound effects while the cats run on it!! Tehehe
🤣 she doesn't get many of my things I create. ( check my you tube channel ) But she appreciates the work I put into them. Plus she loves to brag to people about it. 🤣
That is bad ass! Maybe try putting in a thin, almost see through material in the doorway, and also make the dialing station. Then put in a movie projector in the dialing station that shines against the material to make it look like it really worked. You could also get a smoke machine and install a pipe in the flooring that stretches across to both sides. drill small holes through out the entire pipe so that the smoke will come out through the whole pipe smoking upwards. you could install a smoke machine on both sides for more smoke, which you would probably need. Then you can use the smoke as the movie screen, and project the video onto that.
What you need to do is add blue led on the interior of the ring to project inwards to simulate the gate opening. Awesome job though and love the sound effects as well.
Honestly when I first saw it and he asked to dial, I was like “oh what is it going to do maybe light up a little and and make the opening wormhole noise” I have to say it is way better than I thought, good job!
There are several comments recommending blue LEDs, but I think a ring of wide-beam lasers pointed inward from the inner edge of the ring would be great. With the lasers on, every time you stick a hand or some object in the resulting "event horizon", you will see a ring of laser light around the edge of that object. I think they do that on the show (real world) in order to give the SFX guys a reference for where to draw the "puddle" effect.
Suggestion for setting up a mock wormhole, add a fog machine and several output ports along the inside of the gate, plus strips of super-bright LEDS set to pulse so that they project into the fog.
