I run a MBRP Performance Exhaust M1004A - Quiet Tone Series High Flow. I also run a resonator. No drone. Made a big difference. I ran 4” all the way because I was told it was quieter. I run the passes in Alaska with no EGT issues. I lock out 6th gear but general cruise at 60-65. I’m only pulling about 12k.
it robs a little bit of horsepower but nothing to notice on the butt dyno in the drivers seat. I didn't notice any egt increase when I tried it out but I went back to 5' straight pipe on my l5p duramax lol
In the end with a straight through design.....it's not going to quiet it down much, I feel like it would have to be a restrictive muffle to muffle the sound, I appreciate you putting out this video because I am trying to quiet mine down as well, neighbors are complaining when I warm my truck up in the morning
I noticed the mbrp louvered style inside mufflers are just loud. I prefer the magnaflow type perforated core with the biggest diameter body. The 24 inch + 30 inch body combo works nicely for the 4 inch systems. I am messing with 5 inch inlet/outlet, and looking for sound bites before I order stuff. The walker version does not seem to quite it down as much as the magnaflow. Nothing quietens these trucks like the emissions bs, but who wants that.
The Open Holes inside the muffler need to face toward the front of the truck. I think you installed the mufflers in the exact opposite position. Turn the mufflers around and you will notice a big difference is how quiet the exhaust sounds.
I run a FTE resonator after downpipe, then run the same muffler as you directly behind it. EGTs hauling my trailer all over the country, are no problem. Drone completely gone, nice tone.
The Donaldson 51 is long enough to cover cab which will get it quiet inside but keep the rumble outside. The current set up you have quiets the whole truck... give it a try.. I think you'll like it.
I have a FTE resonator and a mbrp 5" muffler on my lml. Killed drone and exhaust is quiet. Holes facing forward so exhaust can go into holes and into outer muffler. No egt change. The spiral interior of the resonator actually speeds up the air exiting exhaust.
Try a resonator and an axle dump. Do the axle dump first. Shortening or lengthening the tailpipe will move the frequencies for the drone to an rpm you don't drive in.
Wow, I love the sound at start up man that thing seem to rumble and driving on the highway don't sound really bad either I haven't heard any pro or con about the resonator but it might be worth to try.
V belt and son just posted a video of a 2005 dually with a 6 speed. Thing has 4400 miles on it. From what I understand the owner wants to sell. Full banks exhaust and exhaust brake, thing is cherry!
I have the 4” 51” Donaldson. It’s quiet for sure. They’re still is a little drone though. Is it as much as Eddie’s, who knows it’s hard to tell online. One day I’ll throw a fte on it to see if it kills it completely.
You could try a 51 inch Donaldson muffler... idk how free flowing they are but it will solve the drone issue. It maybe try a Aeroturbine 5050xl with 1 of the mufflers you already got.
This is why not everyone should be allowed to own a diesel. 2007 5.9 5 inch turbo back straight pipe daily driver work truck pulling every day it roars. They aren’t supposed to be quiet and comfortable their meant to work. If you’re looking for quiet just wait for the Tesla truck to come out. Also I don’t sit to pee
51" donaldson with no baffles. Comes on 5" and has no back pressure. FTE kills hp/tq. Have this on my 21 HO cummins. Part number M100463. Almost as quiet as stock with nearly zero drone and no back pressure/egt increase. Amazon $185
@@EddieLife3500 I don't have Instagram. But I will keep an eye out for your video update. You will love that muffler. I promise. There is an arrow showing "flow", point it in the correct direction 👌
@@EddieLife3500 back pressure from fixed baffles. Don't get the 580. It will increase egt by forcing flow to the exterior of the can. The 463 is straight through with one hump to help alleviate drone. Trust me, get the 463.
Exactly! I did two Magnaflows on my Ford 6.7 and it is very quiet. The first muffler is right after the turn in the dowpipe. No drone at all but the inline 6 Cummins may simply produce more drone.
I forget what brand it was but I installed one muffler on my 6.7 f350 and it really quieted down and killed all the drone. I got tired of the straight pipe and it also really mellowed out the cold starts when it got below freezing
@@EddieLife3500 no se, Brother? Never had the truck on a dyno or anything. Daily driver. Feels like it still has all the wheaties, plus a little. Running 35s though. Pulls good. Temps are good but I live in South Texas so no hills, it’s flat down here, just HOT.
Not enough hp that you’ll notice and kills the drone!! I have had 5in tbe with designator on two mega cabs and a 5.9 quad cab. Hands down the way to go!!!
Eddie I have been trying to figure out what’s changed about your show, been watching you from the start, where is Efird, and I really like it when little man hangs with you, reminds me when my boys where young, you and Rhino don’t hang as much as in the beginning, I know people change or circumstances change.
@@EddieLife3500 not much difference. The one you got has slightly better flow but a tiny bit louder. You probably aren’t going to notice a difference between the two unless you’re making BIG power.
How it going bro ? Been watching your videos and I’ve been wanting to delete my 19 ram and tune it but can’t really find any legit places to buy a tuner or parts can you help me in the right direction.
Throw the shit in the trash and get a Donaldson 5 inch muffler. I been through all this already. Or you can get the flo pro 5 inch resinator and install a electronic cut out before the resonator when you want loud and hp.
@@EddieLife3500 I don’t know man I was just meaning for drone. You could look into a single larger muffler. That 30” i have does pretty well. But it’s a lot harder to get a 5” to have less drone.
