Around 4:05 that silver pipe is a heat riser tube. It directs heat coming off the exhaust manifold into the air cleaner. This hot air warms the carb and engine up quicker, getting everything to operating temperature faster than not having the riser tube.
Sometimes you gotta look into other vehicles like toyota's or MGB's even ive seen a weber video lol, I did a carb video not long ago and it has almost 4k views on it which is a lot for me haha
I did this to my Naps Z in my 81 720. I had the adapers welded in as the screws don't generally seem to stay tight. I then ported the heck out of them to match the carb better. As for the Carb, pull the fuel feed venturis and polish the sides to remove the flashing. Polish the insides of the main chokes inside with 400 under water, make them look like a mirror. Remove the choke from the secondary side (cut the shaft off) as well as the pump jet from the secondary side (it's most likely to not be drilled anyways). Not having a choke on a secondary will have no effect on drivability. I went with a slightly faster emulsion tube on the secondary side as well and a richer idle jet. Main jets are often big enough. When you put the feed venturis back in, a touch of JB weld (TOUCH!!) will ensure they don't leak. Mine also showed a 7hp gain by plugging the EGR vacuum line. Shhhh I won't tell. As for the rest of the engine, an MSD 6AL really wakes it up!! Seriously. Use a Blaster SS coil. I put it on the intake side with plain copper plugs and a .060 gap. Also check with Comp cams as they used to make an 270 camshaft for that engine. Pace Headers makes a set of those but they are CRAP. You have to weld the tubes in from the outside and have a shop machine the inside of the flange or they will leak. I miss my 720. It was an awesome truck. Ton of work on it. Regrets.
I have an 83 720 and have the same carb but the previous owner didn’t know what he was doing and now I am trying to figure out what he has done. If you could do a video and show where all the vacuum lines go and so on. Thank you
Could you do a quick video showcasing where the lines from the new carburetor goes on the truck? I’ve been wanting to put a new carb on my 720 for the longest time but I just don’t know where the lines go.
I got a weber on my 720, you only need the vacuum advance and the brake booster connected to the intake manifold... everything else can be deleted. crankcase vent can be hooked up or vented through a filter. It's a fairly easy install.
Do that EGR delete and pick up a set of headers with a sweet 2.5 inch exhaust you will be satisfied, hit me up if you wanna shoot some mod ideas around for performance gains, have you adjusted the timing? that will really help!
You chose to 38/38 carburetor I know it’s supposed to be a little bit faster. I mean a lot faster. I’ve heard people blow head gaskets when they 38/38 may be a coincidence maybe not.
Hear you me, that EGR shit is a pain. All this thread sizes are obsolete. And trying to find any oem parts is damn near impossible. I had to replace my cylinder head and it’s crazy how much these ERG parts vary. Luckily I found some work around.
Can you share what was you exact webber carb youre using? Where did you order from? I have an 1984 Nissan 720 and would like to replace carbs. Thank you
I have a question, I was wondering if you could show the vacuum hoses that are remaining and the other ones that are blocked off, plus which ones you have running to the weber carburetor, please.
so idk if by now if you have done it or not, but on this carb there is only one vacuum port next to the idle mixture screw, and it goes straight to our vacuum advance, aka onto your distributer. hope this helps, ik its 2 years later but i gotta help somehow.
Hey , i had a question , did you get the Weber 32/36 ? Because I have been looking at getting one but the mounts are different on the intake manifold and I was going to ask if you had any problems with the mounts
I have a question, just put one of these on my 83. So on the old carb, there was the wire for the auto choke then a wire for the anti disieling solenoid. Neither you or me have that wire hooked any where. So what did you do with it? I'm having an issue where whenever my clutch safety switch is pushed (whenever clutch is all the way out) my engine cuts off.
Was there any issues with the throttle linkage alignment. The cable brackets supplied with the kit does not align with the linkage on the back of my carburetor
Does this have the KA series engine like what was in the stock 240sx? I know it was an early carberated Nissan engine if my memory serves me right. I remember when I was young and new all of the KA, SR, and RB series engines. Now I'm old and drive a Cruse 😂
Great video, I've got same truck and still running stock carb. Think that my secondary isnt coming in properly. How long would you say it took to swap the carb? Never done any carb work so I'm curious as to how intensive the process is.
It probably took a couple of hours to swap between me and my mechanic friend while hanging out. Not the most intensive job but I've seen people do it differently a few different ways due to all the vacuum lines and emissions parts the stock carb has that you can eliminate. Some people also do an EGR delete at the same time as well, but I did not. I decided to keep it a little easier for now.
i did one of these on my saturn engine and was pretty straight forward,a machanic would be able to do it in 2-3 hours, did mine in 2 hours at home, and run perfectly out of the box.
Can you post a Weber carb tuning video? I haven’t been able to find any good Weber carb tuning videos on RU-vid. I have the 32/36 on my 84 Nissan 720 project, first carbureted truck I've ever had and it works but not the best for sure.
Hey i have a problem my nissan pathfinder timing belt burst and i had a few bad valves. I replaced all i put new head gaskets and timing belt the carb had some rust so i bought a nissan carburetor for it. Its a v6 vg30i i live in the Caribbean. It has a misfire but i dont know why i need some help. I also replaced all spark plugs with new ngks
Which version weber Carb did you put on? cause I noticed that you have AC like mine and I read on websites that you may need extra parts or adapters if you have AC in the truck. Is that True as well?
what carb model did you get im fixing up the exact same truck and i need a new carb but im not sure what all i need to know to find the model by my self
@@TheAngryHoneyBadger My 84 2wd went from 22-23mpg to over 30 with the Weber and header. It isn't fast persay but it is much quicker than it used to be.
You can take that cover off the manifold,it is not needed for your Weber,it was used with the funky tube to heat the junky carb.Mine is off. Got a new Exhaust manifold yesterday and a new EGR..https,PUT A IDLE CUT OFF SOLENOID...://ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v5Fe9N0q2Kk.html
Thank you for responding I was trying to find out from other youtube video my Nissan 720 2.4 has carburetor that’s not the Original carburetor from the Nissan it’s a different design. so I bought a weber carburetor to see if it would pass smog and emissions test I don’t know yet since I haven’t yet put in the Weber.
Hello bro, my car is a 1983 Nissan Datsun Z22, Can this Carb fits into mine?? Plus can you please tell me the fuel consumption before and after installing??
I am unsure if this will fit you engine. As for fuel economy mine is better because my old carb was inefficient and needed a rebuild. Before I was around 12mpg. Now I'm closer to 19mpg driving around town.
@@TheAngryHoneyBadger I wanted to make sure before I buy.. since I live in Ethiopia, which is nearly impossible to buy stuff online... Mine runs 12mpg at this moment... It sucks.. Anyway thanks a lot for your support! I appreciate it If you can tell me any other way to get a better Fuel Economy.
I have this installed on my z24 engine. However when I turn off the ignition the engine idles down and shakes violently. It's as if there is no shutoff. Has anyone experienced this?
@@TheAngryHoneyBadger what needs to come off the old carb? I have an 1986 Pulsar NX and a Weber carb. No emissions in my state so not an issue. Im told certain parts from the old Hitachi carb are needed to make it work. What needs to happen to make it work? An N16S 1.6L engine 3 speed automatic. Swapping to manual is not an option due to some physical infirmities i have, mind still knows how to drive stick but neuropathy won't let me so it needs to stay automatic
Might have to check on the Weber site. This is the filter that comes with the carburetor, I don't think I've seen anyone run a different filter but I'm sure there has to be a way to do it.
Weird question can you tell me what the dimensions of your 720 are? Me and my dad were having a debate about the dimensions of his 1984 king cab 4x4 like yours vs my Hardbody 2wd. Wikipedia is so wrong on the dimensions it says its 110.8 inches long by like 68" wide for the 720. I would measure both trucks but I will be out of state for a while and we need to settle this lol
@@TheAngryHoneyBadger Perhaps so, I always use the 38Outlaws or the 40mm Twin-Single Side drafts. I was wondering if the "kickdown" he was referring to was due to it being automatic or sequential rather than concurrent butterfly movement.
@@KageShi The 720 is a manual so the kick down is the butterfly valve on the carb opening up significantly more for the last 10% of the throttle movement. This carb slowly opens for 90% of throttle and the last 10% of the peddle pressure to the floor opens the carb about 50% more dumping more fuel and bringing in more air.
@@TheAngryHoneyBadger it's just that it was gaming. Then seemed to be hardware reviews. Now Automotive. It's a bit confusing. Hope you find what makes you happy. I'll stick around for the ride.
