I believe stressed discus will go pale so these guys are likely just stressed and will darken a bit over time. Not to the same extent as the black bottom/back tank but still likely caused by stress

@@DomStewartWhite yeah agreed they will get a little darker. Back to how they were in the old setup. But thats still impressive from the dark goldfish tank. Fish are amazing.

I have been so enjoying your videos and am learning so much. Since October I've now got 4 aquariums; and a bowl of just hatched Medaka fry. Thanks for so much inspiration. You need to get some acrylic weld ( fairly cheap on Amazon) and create an outer lip around the lid. It will prevent the curling of the lid.

Telescope Black Moor (Fancy Goldfish) as good running mates for Amber's aquarium, they are constant swimmers....peaceful & stunning black scales w/ a golden underbelly!!!

Those red absolutely pop with color and the black accent on their fins makes them so beautiful. Discus are always to me seem majestic and regal in nature. Angelfish have that same nature. However the tank does look great and in the future videos is should become even more beautiful.

You say the plants aren't popping, but this is when I like them the best. They haven't completely taken over and there is more room for the fish to swim. I love this tank just like it is.

Just an observation. The Biomaster filters have locking mechanisms (see the latches below the inlet and out flow hoses and pre-filter). When twisted these isolate the hoses allowing you to disconnect the hoses completely and work without getting water over your floor.

I use a big ice cream tub to transport larger fish from aquarium to aquarium. It's a trick I used mainly for moving big plecos... or anything else with barbs and spines that can get trapped in nets. But it works perfectly well with discus as well, just so long as it's deep enough for them to be able to remain upright. Totally stress-free transportation, because once you click the little lid on, there is no chance of them jumping out.

This tank turned out absolutely stunning. And I can't believe how much those blue discus changed colour!!! It really blew my mind and just made me feel very in awe of how amazing mother nature is. Also, absolutely LOVE those close up shots with the music in the end. Absolute perfection. If you had a video of just that sort of thing for several hours straight, I would watch it for sure. Total zen moment for me.

MD if you take the quick disconnect off the filter you can spin it with your fingers from underneath to drain the hoses so you dont have to unscrew them.

With the inlet & outlet out of the water, you can drain the remaining water in the pipes by unlocking the inlet/outlet on the filter and manually twist underneath to release the water. Just remember to twist it back before fitting it back on the filter.

All of his recent larger build videos are that but broken up into segments (like this tank), usually he'll do a compiled version sometime afterwards. He's a RU-vidr, he has to put out content consistently, this method lets him turn 1 video into 4-5.

I'd put a brace in the middle of that lid. Might prevent that curling as it would keep a bit of pressure on the edges of the lid.

neat trick with the biomaster; just take off the bracket with the hose connectors and twist the inside over the bucket. Both hoses empty no spills!

If you unlock the two pipes together from the pump housing itself they have a non-return valve on them and will not leak at all, meaning you can lift the two pipes off together without unscrewing them.

Hey MD, long time fan. Wife surprised me with a Timmy shirt for my birthday and I wore it to grad school in New Orleans 😂 had a lot of people ask about it. You could combat that curling by adding a support in the middle of the tank. Wouldn’t need to be much could even be a thin piece of the plastic you had before running from the back to front. Obviously anything strong but thin would work.

I love the joy you get from these fish :) I got two red ramshorn nails (I like snails) to hang with the ones that hitchhiked in on some plants (bladder snails maybe?) and I was so happy watching them moving around and on the glass last night. This is such an enjoyable hobby, I'm glad I got into it!

I've used the perspex covers instore before. The sagging can be resolved by turning the cover over daily. It's probably not what you want to hear. And if you give the cover a wipe when you are handling them it will reduce the white crusty salt etching into the cover.

I've moved fish so large I had to catch them in a Brute trashcan, in dive gear.... yeah.... :P You could move the discus using a cup/tupperware container instead of the net/hands. I am all pro-hands when you can, but discus would not be good as they can have sharp spikes.

Looks good! For your lid i think you could take a small strip of plexi and glue it down the middle, by reinforcing it and making it “double thickness” it may stop the bowing. Works in woodworking!
