NOTE FROM SLIM: Several viewers have noted that I should have arranged the flooring plywood so the long end goes across the joists, not parallel. I agree. The benefit is an extra layer of ply going with the grain. Will my error have a significant impact? Unlikely, as there are still two out of 5 layers strengthening widthwise. I may add bridge pieces under the entranceway, but the rest will see little traffic or weight. Thanks for the tip! SP

Finally! A Slim video! Don’t stay away so long, Slim. We miss you. We love your little spot in the woods, and loved seeing the fawn. You could video the storms coming in, the deer, and the birds, and just talk about what you have been doing, and what you will be doing. That would be enough for me. It doesn’t have to be fancy.

waiting foe new video i know takes time but some of us miss your adventures even if its only about the cabin hows the weather what projects are you getting done how about all those trees that came down on the property how are making planks out of those trees going hows the new addition going did you start the path down to the lake so many questions waiting waiting waiting is hard when you want updates even if its a short note posted on you comminuty board

Slim, you're doing great. Keep it up. As an electrician for the last 52 years, I always keep this thought in the back of my mind while working. "Why do we never have time to do it right, but always have time to do it over?" It makes me go a little slower and hopefully make a few less mistakes. I hate doing things twice. It doesn't look good to the customer, and it can be costly. Thank you for all the great videos. I enjoy them all very much.

Slim, I admire so many things about you. Your sensitivity, your values, your persistence, and so much more. I especially like that you were willing to repair that old chair, and milling that storm-fallen wood are exactly the kind of things I do. I’m an old retired guy and I feel certain if we lived near each other we would be good friends. Sadly, I live in the Southeast U.S., many miles from Canada, so I’ll have to be satisfied with being friends through YT. I know there are many others who admire you at least as much as I, if not more! Please keep doing what you do! We will all be waiting and watching with heartfelt appreciation.

Never boring Slim. I always enjoy your videos, but I admit I enjoy the cabin ones a little bit more than the travelling ones. I'm 80 next year and prefer nesting and making home places more comfortable than being out on the road in my decrepitude. You're so optimistic and looking forward to the new growth after you lost part of your forest last year. Same here. Our huge blue spruce succumbed to a storm, and now I'm potting up babies that have sprouted in my garden for my family members to plant in their gardens. Mother Nature for the win. 🤗 Hope all goes well with your continued cabin renovation. 👍☺️

To me, you’re a real super Renaissance man. Personally, I don't hold you to a schedule. I am grateful for each video you publish. I have always enjoyed them. As for today's, I think it may have been a good idea to put a layer of bubble foil under the plywood, to help with insulation. Take care Slim!

Nothing boring about your videos Slim. It's always interesting to see what you've been up to and how you're progressing with the cabin. Your selection of music this time had me chuckling - I envisioned everything from Led Zeppelin, polka accordion, to Charlie Chaplin dancing across your screen in time to the music. It is looking so nice up there this time of year. I hope your taking time to get out the canoe and having a little adventure soon. Glad your finding your errors and addressing them now. Maybe you need a white board to write out the steps in order so that you don't forget a step. My granny had the brother of that worn out chair it was painted red and greenand lasted at least 150 years that I know of here in the North of England ,,,, but never was it left out to the elements. Wonderful video Slim.

You do things just like I do, including fixing the mistakes. If I ever get it right the first time, it will be the first time! ( I cut that window header off three times and it's STILL too short!) And yes, you do need a separate shop. I'm looking forward to that build. Stay happy!

Ouch! That leap of faith looked a bit painful. Loved the visitor log of your furry friends and the baby fawn was so precious ❤❤❤. I’m glad you gave the porch chair a new lease on life. When I see old things like that I wonder about it’s past and the people it held. It looks like nature is recovering well with sunlight getting to the forest floor. Do you have fiddlehead ferns?
