very useful. on my mock test I failed cos during emergency stop I didn't stop quick enough. also when I find myself in the wrong lane at a roundabout, I would always change lanes. don't do that as that will be instant fail. better to stay in the wrong lane and follow it. you dont get a fault for going the wrong way in the correct lane. found it hard to get rid of my old driving habits. I passed my part 2 the other day :)

Brillant was watching, I had my second ADI driving lesson yesterday, my instructor pulled me for observation and dry steering reversing into parking a BAY! :) This vid was really good, I would like to see how you handle Thickthorn roundabout coming from Longwater direction heading towards Thetford there is so much confusion there? :) Thanks Malcolm

HOward, watched this 3 times coming up to my test, thanks... I'm using FWD bay park to then reverse back to do Reverse Bay park. Neat trick. Avoids any dry steering backwards, with all around observations much easier than 45 degree method,

hi, ive got my part 2 next week, watched a few of your videos now which are really helpful. I am confused however about the driver fault you gave him for not checking the blind spot before swinging out to bay park. He didn't stop and as i understand it blind spot checks should only be done whilst stationary before moving off? what would be the point in a blind spot check?
@How-2-drive
@How-2-drive 2 года назад
You make a very good point. In retrospect I feel I may have been a little harsh to fault on this occasion. Agree if he’d come to a stop he should. Let’s say this is just worth a mention. Good luck on your Part 2

Question about following a satnav. I use hearing aids and often Electronic devices are difficult to hear, secondly if the screen is small how do those of us of a certain age deal with the use of reading glasses? my car has a 10" sat nav screen and is easy to read, a 4" TomTom is a different matter. how do examiners deal with this?
@How-2-drive
@How-2-drive Год назад
You can make the DVSA aware of any special needs when you book your test. Extra time will be given so the examiner can understand your needs. It would be reasonable for you to follow signs instead of using the Sat Nav for example.

Hi Howard. I really enjoy your videos. I'm about to take my ADI Part 2 test on Friday. Do I need to worry much about things like push-pull steering, always using handbrake every time I stop (at lights etc). Might seem obvious but I'm just trying to drill down on whether I need to be concerned about things like that or whether these things are really only important in learner tests. I hear what you're saying about business like driving, and now I'm beginning to wonder if I've been focussing too much on minute details as if I was taking a learner test? Thanks in advance for any advice. Cheers.
@How-2-drive
@How-2-drive 2 года назад
Hi Brendan. Pull push is not essential but best practice. Rotational steering is fine, just ensure you’re steering is accurate and smooth and you’re in full control. Best to use handbrake when waiting, again best practice and you’ll want to be encouraging your pupils to follow best practice. Be confident and drive to a high standard, make progress where safe to do so. Good luck for Friday

You are making a really nice videos. The only think when you use the outside camera the sound is compromised. Would be beneficial to cut the outside sound or use a kind of microphone. Thank you for doing these videos.

Hello, can I use my own car ( modern Nissan Qashqai that has 360 degree cameras) while giving my part 2 test?? I don't have to look all the mirrors while reversing, I only have to see reversing cameras in my dash board of car. can I use this type of car for my part 2 test??
@Sikhipacksweekly
@Sikhipacksweekly Год назад
Your 360 degree mirrors won't cover your blind spots. That's why 6 point checks are essential.
@tinatinamous6234
@tinatinamous6234 3 года назад
Hi. Is the test (ADI pt.2) more stringent if you take it in an automatic? Thanks
@How-2-drive
@How-2-drive 3 года назад
No its to the same high standard, although you could argue its easier as no gear changes. You must however use an appropriate gear, so for example you should consider selecting a lower gear when travelling downhill. Also ensure all braking done before the hazard (bend or junction) to allow the car to select gear before so that light acceleration can be applied for stability when cornering. You should read about automatics in DES for more information. Thanks for watching

Hi Howard, "dry steering" seems to be a hotly debated topic with some people claiming it damages the steering of modern cars and causes uneven tyre wear and other people saying that's utter nonsense. Surprisingly there doesn't appear to be any actual scientific stress tests carried out but I'm inclined to believe that dry steering causes no measurable damage or increased wear to a modern car or modern tyres. When it comes to the Part 2 test no one wants a minor fault if it can be avoided. However, there seems to be a divide on whether dry steering on a Part 2 test actually warrants a minor fault. Please can you clarify?

Is there still 6 faults allowed for the current part 2 tests? My instructor told me it was 5.

So I realise only a mock test, and also we only have the in car video to view. However I would of imaginged that just based on general use of mirrors, and use of PSL there would have been many more faults. 26 mins in Just after the traffic lights as you're going out into the sticks woman with two dogs close to edge of verge no easing & no mirrors whatsoever, proximity to other vehicles when passing never at least a metre, on thorpe rd? at 38 minutes cyclist no reduction of speed no mirrors before the bollard. 39 minute red car pulling out nose already into the road no reduction no observations and can't say he saw it as he would of eased accordingly as a definite unknown! Maybe I'm over thinking it. Please advise accordingly as not criticisms just observations.

Often because they drive like a learner on test. Very slow and cautious. Part 2 requires a business like drive, make progress and don't dither - get on with it,
