Looks like adidas got a little lazy and I agree Edd, why is everything increasing in price and weight?! I’m really watching how I spend my earth credits these days.
Edd, I have the utmost respect for you, I love yea or nay because to anyone somewhat familiar with running shoes you really do your homework with reference to comparing previous iterations and especially earth credits, it awakens us to really how much is a particular shoe worth it? By choosing not to review it tells us the changes just aren’t worth it and that tells us the consumer and especially the shoe companies come on focus on what’s important and stop wasting money on small insignificant changes. Thank you for your honesty.
Marathon training shoes in my quiver: Adios 7 for everyday runs up to 12 miles; Adistar for recovery runs and low and slow long runs; AAP3 for long, fast runs and the marathon itself. I loved the Adios 6 so much that i am glad teh 7 is the same - why mess with perfection!??
The Endorphin Speed 3 is also supposed to have a wider heel compared to the first two models. As for the rest, Adidas could have improved the Boston 11 over the 10 by simply removing that plate underneath the strobel board. I might be one of the few people that liked the Boston 10, but I thought that board was unnecessary.
Good choices. I find yuor videos more insigthful and useful when you review the shoes you are excited about. I look foreward to hearing your thoughts on the Adios 7 and Speed 3
Adidas Adizero Adios 7 had me interested until you mentioned it isn’t much of an improvement over the previous model. Look forward to your initial review…
The Adios 7 is a Nay only because I have the 6s and the lateral outsole is almost worn down to the Lightstrike Pro midsole at 235 miles. Although I love my Adios 6, I may opt for the Rebel V3 or Novablast 3 for my daily trainer once they come out.
I agree the Adios would have needed an outsole redesign- it picks up little stones all the time and does not protect the foam and plastic plate as well as it should
Adios 7 is awesome , got it today!!! The upper is pretty much like the one from takumi sen 8 … im so happy running in it! Such a Race fit ! U will love it . Much more upper upgrade then it looks like !
ADIOS 7 - Nay from here. I do own the 6 and I'd rather pick up another pair of 6s... AT a discount! I'm kind of happy these shoes are not that exciting, I have spent enough on shoes but cannot STOP!
Hope the Endorphin Speed 3 drops soon here in the USA! The 1 and 2 have worked well for me and I never found them unstable as you noted. Looking forward to your review and this shoe is a YEA for me.
If they put some lightstrike pro in the heel instead of just around the heel like the Boston 10 had it might be a good update. I hear it’s a bit wider in the toebox. If that’s True I may get a pair. The 10 is just a tad too tight. Nay on the rest. The speed looks good but will have to see if it’s stable enough. The last run I did I could feel the pwrrun pb being a little unstable and my ankles were hurting after it. That’s the problem with these softer midsoles.
there is lightstrike in the heel of the boston 10, cut open my old pair, is only a thin layer and has a layer of some sort or fibreboard or plastic over the top that's why the heel feels so firm
Yeah does seem a trend for minor updates in a lot of shoes of late. Unless you like the current one and it is worn out, these new ones aren't overly compelling. I think I am to abandon buying adidas (although do rather like them) until they do bigger than a UK 12.5 which is a fraction short for me. Oddly they have started putting 13, 13.5, 14.5 size options for these two (and the Prime X) on the UK website but all unavailable. Are they testing the water for the likes of Andy FOD Runner & myself? If you are that size sign up for their reminder service as they might then take note! Speed 3 does look "different" though and see has appeared on a few of these EU sites that you are never sure going to get stung for customs charges if ship to the UK. Spectur looks vaguely interesting but I see only has 6mm drop and I tended to struggle with anything less than 8mm. It seems a bit of a racer/trainer bit like the Boston has been and perhaps now the regular Adios. Speaking of fit, I recall a wide version of the Adios 6 turned up one day so would hope they keep both and don't revert to a one size/width fits all shoe as nearly everybody does.
Hey Tim- we did make the shoes in larger sizes this time around and for all future iterations, just depends on if the markets purchases those larger sizes, then again if the accounts/ customers purchased those larger sizes to stock... but we heard your honest feedback and were able to action it. Just cannot control if markets and account range the larger sizes, unfortunately ! Lastly, we do offer a wide version of both adios 7 and boston 11.
@@nickroche8553 Great! Many thanks for listening. I have ordered the Adios 7 already from Zalando of all places as the only vendor seen offered so far offering. Oddly they say they source direct from adidas but that could be EU not UK I am in and the adidas UK site is not yet actually offering them but hopefully will before long. I would probably say the Adios has been my favourite shoe over the years but I now realise they were basically a fraction small for me in the UK 12.5/US 13 so will be very interesting to see how they feel with a full thumbwidth and hopefully mid foot striking and toe off in the "right" place.
@@nickroche8553 Nick, as a fellow size 13 runner (the same as Tim) this is welcome news, we really appreciate you listening to feedback… I really hope this becomes long term 🙏
I kind of hated the Endorphin Pro 1, but *loved* the Endorphin Speed 1. Surprising because the shoes are nearly identical except that the Speed "downgrades" from a carbon to a nylon plate. But for reasons I don't understand it makes all the difference - for me the Pro is almost painfully stiff and even lifeless, but the Speed is nice and easy until you want to pick up the pace, when it somehow acquires a nice snappiness. So yeah, give 'em a try.
@@rgweaver I completely agree when you say the pro is "painfully stiff" and "lifeless" because that's exactly what I thought however my wife loved her pairs. I never tried the v1 or v2 speed trainer as I just assumed they would be even worse even though many on RU-vid raved about them lol I'm definitely going to get the speed 3's this time and I hope it's going to be the start of a beautiful relationship between me and saucony 🤣
I think I solved the “Lightstrike pro +” mystery. On another webpage, they listed the midsole as “Lightstrike pro + Lightstrike”, so clearly this is some sort of copy truncation on the webpage.
Great video! I love new shoe drops because it means I can get the old version on sale. I’m trying to decide between Adios 6 and NB Rebel V2… which would you pick?
Purchased the adios 7 a couple of weeks ago as a replacement for my adios 6. Disappointed to say that after just 2 weeks the 7s have split on the mesh near the toes. Just on one shoe at the moment but the other also showing signs of wear on the same spot. I wouldn't say I'm particularly hard on my shoes and had a lot of life out of the 6s (and Boston 6, 7 and 8s before that). Seems to me like adidas have tried a bit too hard to cut down on the weight this time and sacrificed durability.
Had to go and cop ‘A Treasure’ since Neil’s removed himself from Spotify - my NY top 5 On the Beach, Tonight’s the Night, American Stars and Bars, Ragged Glory and Arc Weld (triple live) 👍
You will love it. I finally got it last month and without even testing it on the road ran a 10K in Boulder, CO-a hard, hilly course-got a PR nevertheless and 2nd in my age group. It felt like I barely had shoes on my feet. I think it could even go to HM distance for a lightweight runner like myself. Sole sister, Martha!
meh. finally a salomon on your chanel! i thought... got me all exited! but no, it's not to be. i might give it a spin tho anyways. and keep watching your nike and adidas reviews nontheless.
With the upper update both Adios 7 and Boston 11 lost half an ounce. That is like ~20 grams ?! But this year I will get the Boston 11 first and by January of next year I will go for the new Adios 7 in a good promotion.
@@EDDBUD actually looking again they do seem to be offering my size in one of them but I fear this is a mistake and just copied from the sizes "not available" on adidas as they say the shoes are sourced from adidas
I wanna buy it on sale. It’s on good price. I’m running between 3-5-7 k. Two tree days a week. Would you recommend?? And which size is good I’m 44 it’s true size or il take half size up? 44/half. Thanks
It's unbelievable how Adidas (which shines in the supershoes dept.) managed to ruin a reliable workhorse/wonderful daily ride like the Boston in the latest two iterations. Maybe we should be patient and wait for a totally redesigned/revamped Boston 12 ...
@@EDDBUD Sadly, they split a coherent lineup of running shoes in two: excellent racing flats and supershoes on one side, and out of this world daily trainers/midrange shoes on the other. Clunky, heavy, yet expensive and not that much appealing even to casual runners. Why most runners should care about adidas, where so many good alternatives are available ?? My two cents ...
Will be interested to hear what the Speed 3 is like, bought the Speed 2.0 a couple of months back and was instantly comfortable but haven't got many miles on them yet. Planning to use in rotation for training next few months though
non sequitur, but I just ordered some Prime-X for around $150 US. Late to the party, I know. RRS in US has them on sale, and if you join their stupid "club" you get another 10% off, and there was some other stacking promotion. And they're not as heavy as you led me to believe, the weight I heard was for YOUR bigfoot size, not the sample size. Is it true what they say about guys with big feet? You know; Big Feet, Big Shoes.
Are those for high arch foot runners? I tried boston 10 here in our country but it does not fit for high arch foot runner. Please confirm if there are any high arc foot here. Adios 6 is unavailable in our country
I used to run with Adidas. Reliable shoes, those boston 7,8s, old adios 4,5s, never nailed it with Solarboost lineup, once the carbon plate shoes came out, Adidas started to get behind…one year passed by and present the same Boston and Adios, workhorses of the brand. Cutaways here and there with no certain explanation why they do this on the takumi and adios pro and they are done with updates. Disappointing.
I got the Boston 11... don't like it. Heavy, clunky, difficult to get on, uncomfortable, and just not enjoyable to run in. Took 70k to soften up a little but even then was not anywhere approaching good. Has put me off Adidas shoes. Also went for the Novablast 3 which was night and day better for me.
Adidas is the biggest disappointment for me last two years. No midsole updates, no improvement apart from the uppers. Uppers are important yes, but the same exact midsole? Lightstrike is a bad midsole in comparison with new foams out there. There’s one thing they focus on, cutaways on super shoes for esthetics, no one from the brand explains why this cuts under the foot…more unstable underfoot is the result.
