I usually change my shoes after 300-500K. My first PX reached 1000k and has now been replaced with the second pair of PX. Adidas has an absolutely outstanding shoe here.

This is my favorite pair of running shoes. I usually wear them for my long runs with marathon/threshold efforts. My pair has nearly 400 miles (no rolled ankles even on light trails) and the outsole is still barely used and the midsole is still as bouncy. The upper got a bit less stiff with time too.

LOVE the protection this shoe gives......not as unstable as people perceive, for good roads/even camber, once you have run in them for a while it feels normal. Also for people going on about illegal....there are some "legal" shoes in larger sizes eg size 13 Alphafly that are way above the 40mm limit (as the limit is set against a smaller size) so my size 7 in the Prime X is comparable with a Size 13 Alphafly....... This is a FANTASTIC option for a marathon and even more so, TRAINING for a marathon, it saves the legs and aids recovery so much!

I certainly don't *need* this shoe but I'm very intrigued and *want*, which means I'll pick up a pair eventually. Haha. Running is a fairly new hobby for me although I did do a lot of running during my teen jock years (baseball, football, tennis, and track) so my body and legs are well conditioned for it. I think I'm past the point of participating in races now but I do run 70~80 miles per week for the sheer love of it. I split those hours equally between the road and trails in SoCal. Personally, I enjoy running technical trails with steep rock hills the most but road running is great too. I have over a dozen pairs of very good road and trail running shoes and compared to my previous hobby - audiophile gear - it's a very economical and affordable hobby. Compared to headphones, DACs, amps, and speakers that run $5K+ each, shoes are pretty cheap and I chuckle at people complaining about a pair of shoes costing $20~30 over another pair, etc. But I guess it's all relative so I understand. The more I read/watch the reviews about the Prime X, the more interested I am. My main road running shoes in my rotation right now are the VF2, Endorphin Pro 3 & Speed 3, and Mach 5. I'll definitely pick up the Novablast 3 as soon as it becomes available and I'd like to get the Invincible FK2 just to experience the softness of it on days when I just want to cruise in comfort, but the Prime X seems fascinating even though I probably won't use it more than once every other week for a 10-mile run. Seems like a certain kind of muscle sports car ride. You are not going to take such car on a drive to your local Costco or on commute to work but it's nice to take out such a car on a weekend to stretches of road where you can rev up the engine and have fun. That's what I see this shoe as. It's obviously niche but that's the whole purpose of it. Fortunately, I do have long stretches of park roads nearby that are flat and straight where I can get the best out of it. The latest version in linen green also looks the best out of the different colorways I've seen. Looking forward to it. Seems like a wild and fun ride!

(M59) just a 5 mile run resulted in activating an old gluteus medius injury in me. I picked up a pair on sale from RRS for $150 due to the glowing reviews, but this shoe is incompatible with my gait, I'll be returning them. I have to concentrate to keep my foot on top of the midsole, which probably led to the hip pain. There are no elements on or in the shoe to keep the upper and your foot from working off the edge, the strobel plate and upper are right on top of the midsole, not IN, only the stitching keeps your foot in place. It FEELS GREAT, but you need to have a very good neutral gait to use this shoe. I land on lateral heel and midfoot, and toe-off from my big and second toe. If version 2 has the midsole come up a bit outside and cradle the foot, it would be an excellent trainer for a lot of people.

@tazpengra
@tazpengra 2 года назад
@@leejarrett4928 I just had to stop running for a few months and then gradually get back into it. It was probably a year+ before I didn't notice it anymore. At the time, I didn't do any rehab exercises, but hindsight is 20/20. Ten years later, I still have a bulge where the tear happened. And as mentioned, it can still flare up. Super cushy, stable shoes like Hoka Stinson and slow pace, like 12:00, helped me get in miles after that first few months off. Whenever I have some sort of issue, right now it's PF flare up, I put on my "orthopedic" shoes; the Stinsons with a more ridgid arch insole (Sole brand Dean Karnazes, no longer made, or Superfeet Green) and slow way down. For me, hitting the trails put less stress than roads, maybe because of slower pace and varied footstrike. The new Bondi might work, too, or something else wide and soft. I've tried to "run through" several injuries in the last 10 years, with no success. I've decided that just taking 2-8 weeks off is the best, fastest course of action. Better undertrained than not being able to run at all.

so as someone with a supinating gait would u recommend against those? I must be a picky buyer because of this specific gait that i have
@tazpengra
@tazpengra Год назад
@@jasicjan by "those" I assume you're referring to the Prime-X? No, I would not recommend them. If your shoe wear pattern shows that you land predominantly on the edge of your heel, either medial, or lateral (supination), there is not any mechanism in the shoe to keep your foot from "falling over the edge". Like me, you'll adjust your gait to keep from tipping over, and that will result in some sort of new aches and pains and possibly overuse injury. The Prime-X STRUNG is supposed to be better, I haven't tried them. The shoes that have never caused me pain on runs of any type are Skechers MaxRoad 4 and 4+ (both discontinued). The downside is that the outsole rubber wears through at only 200 miles. I have the New Balance SC Trainer, and they work for supination gait like us, but have a plate so are stiff and not comfortable for long and easy runs. For "fancy race shoes" I have the New Balance RC Elite V2, and they're great. I also put a lot of miles on Saucony Endorphin Speed-2 and 3 (I like the 2 better)

a bit late to the discussion ... I have AP2, Tempo Next, Sen 8 and Alphafly ... they are quite different. Tempo Next (my favorites) are quite unique because of the Air Pods. I've been using them a lot. They are loud but if you like to run fast and having a lot of cushioning, they are great. Everybody keeps saying the Prime X are illegal for races but the Tempo Next are illegal as well. Now with AP2, I like them, they look great but I don't feel like I want to run fast with them, I tend to run slower when using them, which is perfectly fine. More recently I got the Sen 8. I was worried they would lack cushioning but they are great, they are bouncy even with the lower stack height. Personally, I like to have many shoes depending on the type of run. I also feel it helps prevent injuries. I like the Alphafly for racing but I seem to get runner's toe when using them (even when sizing up).
