I have both UB 19 & 20, but I use them for walking not running. It's a little bit too heavy. My current running shoes are Pegasus Turbo 2, Pegasus 36 and Skechers Gorun Ride 8
Its good to see you when you can still run outside. My country Malaysia so far because of the Covid-19, currently partial lockdown and need to stay at home. So stay safe kofuzi and bring us more good shoes and contents
Awesome! You're one of the few reviewers who noticed that the boost was slightly reduced in the 20. Most RU-vid reviewers just say they're exactly the same as the 19's, 20%more boost compared to the older 2018 models, blah, blah, blah, so inaccurate! I never liked my Ultraboost 19's and I love the 20's.
i think we are on the early end of things. but with most people either laid off or working from home, and with the gyms all closed, i'm seeing more runners along the path than ever (for this time or year and that time of day)
Would you be interested in testing the new Salomon road running shoes? They have had some pretty impressive design and engineering put into them, with one target to reduce vibrations (which cause fatigue and injuries). I'd like to see someone used to road shoes try em out!
Thanks for your honest and deep review. I did buy an UB19 and sold after 1 month because the shoes are uncomfortable. Recently bought a pair of UB20 based on your review and it's amazing!!!
I have had the same two problems with all UB: Weight and fit. The shoes are still too heavy in comparison to similarly functioning shoes such as the Nike Epic React and New Balance Propel. And this upper is really lazy from Adidas. New Balance and Nike have found interesting ways to stitch their laces into knit uppers, but Adidas just slaps on another piece of plastic that can irritate feet and make it difficult to get a great fit.
I don’t necessarily mind the weight in this shoe for what it is. But that changes depending on what adidas is telling us this shoe is for. If it’s a max cushion shoe, weight is no problem at all. If it’s a daily trainer or faster, then why is it so heavy?
I have epic react and I don’t like how the lace is stitched into the knit. The lace goes inside shoe and directly against the foot as there is no tongue and it rubs against my foot and makes them sore. I think Adidas method is much better with the side plastic and also adds bracing for the sides of the foot for agility that you just don’t get with the epic react. Because the lace is one with the stretchy fly knit when tide up you never get a secure tight feeling from the upper. I find the no matter how tight you do the laces up it never makes the shoe any more secure because all your doing is stretching the fly knit more and more. For the laces there needs to be a fixed and secure anchoring point which doesn’t stretch like on the ultraboost.
Hey Kofuzi I've heard your favorite running shoes of all time are the Pegasus 33 shield?! Can we get a further explanation for this ha? You've got quite the resume when it comes to shoes, so why are these better than others?
Interesting, I assumed the midsoles were the same height - loved the 19 apart from the heel, just felt too high up and hurt my Achilles. May revisit these!
I thought so too. Even holding them at the same time, it’s hard to notice a difference. After all, it’s just 7mm. But then again, it seems to make a big difference in foot
I just ordered triple red UB20 yesterday with -30% coupon. What a treat to get your first run video just before getting mine! I can't help it but having a really nice looking pair of shoes gives me an extra boost (pun intended) of motivation to run more. I know there are better shoes for the money but nice to know these are at least usable! And you can run faster with red shoes, that's why even Sonic himself has red shoes and everyone knows he's really fast haha! :D :D
Hi :) just discovering your channel and it seems to be very helpful. I need your advice. I started running since one month ago on a basis of a short 5km run everyday with a break on Sundays. I need to buy good running shoes and been thinking about adidas ultraboost. I’m not a professional so I can’t know which one is better for me. Can you please help ?
Good day sir. Sir im a right above knee amputee and im looking for a shoe to use in the barbershop. I have heel spur and high arch foot. Would you recommend this shoe for all day standing in the shop? I know its not related on the video but ive seen almost all of your videos and you know what you’re talking about when it comes to good shoes. I hope you can recommend some. Thanks and God bless.
I bought these shoes, I am 9.5 but these were hell tight. I suffered pain in my middle of the foot. I returned them... I have wide feets as well. I am considering buying 10.5 now but I am bit confused. what should I do. go for UB 20 or the Old version. I have heard that old version is very comfortable and not much difference. i didn't liked the upper material, it feels so plasticy and tight.
@@kofuzi I compared a couple of different sites. Running warehouse in particular, which double checks for themselves when they get a shoe in since companies have been known to fudge their numbers from time to time. They take their own weight measurements and stack measurements.
Great review! I watched this because I was considering to buy the 20. After I watched this video, I'm really interested and decided to just giving it a try!
I just run with basic shoes i didnt expect will be an issue but i always have pain at my left shin area so i always keep walking instead of running especially on hard floor do u think this will help or any one have other suggestions please help
I never understood the UB running shoe debate. Just because a rapper decided to wear a running shoe doesn't mean that it's not a running shoe anymore. The UB has always been a running shoe. Can't fault it for looking good as well. Thanks for the review. I didn't realize they changed that much between the 19 and 20 models. I enjoy my UB's, but since buying the Reebok Floatride Energy 2 (amazing shoe), I don't really have a need for the UB anymore except for walking in.
Not a high mileage runner >30 miles per week but been running more with the extra time. Recently got a pair of UB20s and as soon as i threw them on there was something to be desired. Im a creature of habit so for years ive been running in NB zante v3's, given they are/were(if you can find them) a fraction of the price I feel my expectations for the UB20 were just too high. I'll continue to give these a go but initial impressions are subpar for the price point.
Really loved this video! 🤗 Can I use your video for my commercial project?

Hey Kofuzi! What is your take on the width of the UB20s? I always had a problem with adidas being too narrow for me, which is really a pitty. Though I am very well attracted to the 2020 series of adidas, so please would you comment the issue of comfort width-wise of the Ultraboosts 20 or for example SL20s? I noticed you have quite a large amount of runs in adidas these days. Thanks! Cheers from Czech Republic!
Hey Kofuzi, thanks for making the content you do. I'm curious if you still use these for running (regularly), or if you now believe these are more appropriate as a fashion shoe? I love the styling, but I'm skeptical about them (especially at the pricepoint) compared to other performance trainers.
kind of. between all the different models of shoes that Adidas puts out, i think this could be an interesting game of mix and match to figure out how they got to the UB20
If they put in a carbon fiber plate and a steeper drop (greater difference from heel to toe)would be interesting. And maybe a much thinner knit, Nike moved to vaporweave, but if adidas can create something lighter and stiffer knit I think it would work really well
Thanx for your views. With now even less boost under the forefoot, there is NO way I am gonna run on this one. The UB19 already did not have enough boost under the forefoot .
The forefoot feel is similar between the two. But having less boost makes the shoe more runnable. Less boost made it better, but there’s still room for improvement
Really nice video. I'd be interested how the ultraboost are in comparison to the Puma Hybrid Astro because they look similar but using an bit different midsole
Ultraboost was always a "fashion" shoe, but also runable, now it's a running shoe that looks kinda good. Also the true running Ultraboost is the Ultraboost PB, why didn't you get that one?
since it shares alot of solarboost-esque visual cues, how does the ride compare to the solarboost? especially given the reduced amount of boost compared to UB19
i haven't run in the solarboost in a long while (I even forgot that it had all those guide rails until I saw the footage again). but from what i remember, the solarboost felt a bit more rigid from a torsional perspective. the UB20 moves with my foot a bit more naturally
Nice work. Always was a fan of the Ultraboost and got the UB19's. I find them unwearable for running and turfed them after 60 km. Way too much boost in the heel and none in the forefoot created a slapping on the pavement which resulted in chronically sore knees. Have since switched to Nike alphafly 3 and won't be returning to Adidas irrespective of them reducing the heel height as they seem to lack innovation since creating the boost material compared to some of the other brands.
Great video once again Kofuzi. I own a pair of UB 20's and Boston 8's. I concur with you that they are ideal for long/easy runs. They are slightly heavy so at faster longer efforts, they could potentially feel a tad clunky in the Achilles. I think your Adidas selection of the current offerings are pretty diverse and I don't think that you'd need to dive into the Ultraboost PB. Hopefully you could get your hands on a pair of the Adizero Pro.
@@kofuzi sir, why wasn't it? UB 19 has been perfect so far for my heel pain. It felt hard the first week. After, it was great. I noticed the difference immediately when I switch to other sneakers that has max cushioning. Can you recommend a few pairs for heel pain?
I never could justify the cost of this shoe compared to the solar boost. It sounds like its more of a real running shoe now but that makes it more in line with the solar boost it sounds like and why pay the extra $?
Funny story: last year in one of my first ever track meets I was scheduled to run the 1600m. I ended up not having enough time to change into my spikes. I had to run in my Ultraboost 1.0 Remakes and I set a then-PR. I think it was like a 5:10 and to this day I don’t know how weird of a shoe like that could go at that pace.
what size do you wear in Nike? what size do you wear in these? i have Adidas basketball shoes and they run big compared to my nike shoes. Thanks in advance
How much of an impact does over pronation have on a runner? Does it really need correcting or can you get by with neutral shoes? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.
I pronate enough to where my knees buckle inward and it causes a lot of pain for me. Wearing a shoe like the Brooks Adrenaline and the Nike Legend React 2 significantly reduce pain to where I don't notice it. If you have pain, work on correcting your arch or if it's serious then consult a doctor. If you don't experience pain then neutral shoes are the way to go.
I think the answer is very nuanced. For example, I know what extreme over pronation looks like. And I know what pronation looks like. But what does pronation that needs a special shoe but doesn’t require medical attention look like? 🤷🏻♂️ But aside from consulting your physician or ortho, you will know the answer by running more. No news is good news in this regard. But on the other hand, pain is a clear message from your body that something needs attention
@@kofuzi I just don't see a huge issue with it because I do actually have an arch, I don't have totally flat feet. It's a mystery to me. I ran in neutral shoes (brooks glycerin 17) for eight weeks and although the knee pain wasn't crippling it definitely isn't bearable for more than 3 or 4 miles, and I could only bear to run in them once or twice a week. Eventually I gave in and bought a pair of the Legend React 2 and the knee pain totally went away. I also used to run in the adrenaline a lot throughout high school and I never once had knee pain. I think it may be hereditary, most of my mother's side has had wide feet or generally flat feet. It's kinda strange to me though because I do have a medium to low arch but still experience the pain.
I review shoes, so I switch up a lot. I review some watches, so I switch up a lot there, but a watch review requires more data points than a shoe review so I tend to go in longer bursts with a single watch.
it very easy to take videos out of context. there is an entire industry of products that exist to keep one's face warm during winter running. i've been using them for years.
