Am watching this 2 years late but I saw the mistake. Have to admit I almost missed it. Still love how this quit turned out and think I will try it when I finish the quilt I'm working on now. Thanks for making the 3 yard quilts....you are an inspiration!
I wouldn't say even if I had spotted it, it's rude! Thanks for the videos that show you making mistakes, some of them out there are so darn perfect I would not dare attempt the project. I do cross stitch and you couldn't find one finished piece of mine where I haven't "amended the pattern"! You cheer me up and make my day better, I'm glad I found you on RU-vid.
April - done is better than perfect. I didn’t see or look for the mistake. Some lucky child will be so happy! Thanks for sharing. I like your videos a lot!
I have a quilting Buddy just like yours. Wherever I'm working, he's right there. One time I cut off a bunch of his fur from the end of his tail. (Ooooops) It didn't hurt him and the flat part grew out. Thank you for your cute videos. :) I love it when you're a little confused and then work it out. Helps me go for it, too.
April, you are so much fun to watch, and your calm demeanor has helped me get back into quilting for the first time in 25+ years. My first three yard quilt is to the point of putting my sandwich together and to start quilting. Can't wait! I've loved to sew since I was 13 years old and did a lot of it when my kids were young. Then life happened and I had to go to work. Finally, I was able to retire about 5 years ago, and split my time between making greeting cards and sewing, and I'm loving the quilt making. Please keep your videos coming. You make it look so easy! Thank you!
You have just made my week. What a wonderful compliment. I am so glad you are back into quilting and thank you for watching me. :-). And I am so jealous that you are retired. I look forward to that one day myself. April
April thank you I love making baby guilts but some times I run out of ideals and you help me soo much and I love love to colors that you use that is so me thank you again
I was going to skip making this pattern but after seeing the way yours turned out, absolutely lovely, it is going to go on my To Do List! I am definitely loving making 3 yard quilts. I also appreciate you pointing out to deviate from the pattern to make it how we want. Uniquely ours! I doubt I would have found the mistake without you pointing it out. I think when I try this one I will see if I like a scattered buttons look on my design wall before assembling. My friend often tells me if I wouldn't point it out no one would notice.
I am pretty sure I saw this video when it first was released a year ago because it already had been given the “thumbs up”, but I did not make a comment. I too am a fan of Donna and have several of her patterns and books. Her patterns are super fun and make the best use of the entire 3 yards of fabric which I appreciate. No waste! I love that you made a mistake in this one and didn’t rip it out to redo it. It makes the quilt a “designer” quilt because it is unique. Go April! We lived in the Lexington KY area for several years back in the 70s while my husband was getting his master’s degree. We visited friends in the Louisville area often. We found KY a wonderland of places to visit and explore. One of our favorite restaurants was the Colonel’s Lady in Shelbyvile near Louisville. It was a favorite place for those very special occasions. Definitely not like the Colonel’s KFC. We also became a fan of the Kentucky Hot Brown! We have fond memories of our time in KY and have visited there often since. I would guess the quilt shops are amazing and in abundance in that area. Thanks for sharing yourself in your videos. They always brighten my day and I do watch them multiple times when they come up on my feed. Keep them coming!
Please, please, please do more 3 yard quilt videos. I love your videos. You are so helpful. I have all the 3 Yard Quilt books and frankly, I have trouble with some of the patterns. My strip sets NEVER come out the right width. I am a really careful cutter, but I am obviously doing something wrong. I really like the way you talk as you work. I enjoy your thought process.
I feel the same way. Just keep trying. I can’t cut a straight line to save my life but it seems to get better the more quilts I make. :-). More 3 yard quilt videos coming to a screen near you. Thank you so much for watching and your kind comments. April
That is a possibility. I will have to hold my fabric up after I cut it and see how crooked it is. A friend of mine says it is because I am left handed. LOL
Caught the boo-boo. But only, as others mentioned, because you mentioned it. Its mot a biggie. Adds character. I love these books & I have all of thrm? Love, your videos & even more when your helper photo bomber jumps in! What a sweetie ❤
April, your quilt adventures are informative, useful, pretty and SO MUCH FUN to watch. I had to put my own crafting/quilting on hold, due to covid and cataracts. Waaah. However normal's on the horizon (pending cataract removal) and meanwhile I love, love, 💕💕 watching your videos. Thank you so much!
I hope you are able to get the cataract surgery and get to crafting and quilting. But in the meantime I am thrilled you found my channel. :-). Thank you for watching and commenting. April
April, I love this pattern, it makes a very cute, quick quilt! I found the design element you were referring to and no I wouldn’t rip it out! I would say it was intentional! Besides kids don’t care!💕
Thank you for your video of Three yard quilts. I’ve started one of Donna’s patterns. Glad to see I’m not the only person that gets pieced blocks turned the wrong way. You turned the button pieced block facing the wrong direction. Its the last block in the next to last row. I’m also glad we can leave them as a testimony of how good we are.
Yeah - it's like once you find it - you can't help but see it everytime. LOL. I am actually going to give it to my granddaughter due in August. Thank you for watching. :-) April
Liked how you explained the pressing. Thank you. Your quilt is very cute and so precise! I enjoy your videos. I did the same thing on my first 3 yard quilt. Love the Donna Roberts books too.! I ordered some kits in spring fabrics and they are very nice. Great fabrics for the price.
I’m a fan of Donna’s, too! I’ve just made one of hers out of flannel with a Minky back for my granddaughter and I hear it’s a big hit! You know what Jenny Doan says about quilts, “Better done than perfect!” I agree! No one has ever turned down the gift of a quilt because there was a mistake in it. Keep up the good work!
..that's not a 'mistake', that's the cheeky little Block that is as individual and diverse as the wonderful child you give this beautiful quilt to...OR the thing that gets fixated on FOR EVER!!😆
I love these 3 yard quilts and the flexibility that they bring. I have watched several of your 3 yard videos and have really loved them!! Thank you! I know you adjust the borders etc. sometimes which I think is a great idea. I would love to see you do a 3 yard quilt with just the 3 yards and show how much waste you have left. Great videos thanks again!!
I LOVE the ‘unique’ panel in your April quilt ……. And it’s not obvious unless you look for it ….. this video stars are the photo bombing cat and the voice over dog 😍. Great video again honey … and love your shirt 💖💖💖
Adorable quilt! I'm getting ready to start my first 3-yard quilt. There are so many choices to choose from. I love your video endings with chocolate, it makes me wish I had some. 😂
Adorable! 💗💗💗 I love your fabric choices. ❤ I think the only way someone would notice your boo-boo is when you point it out, otherwise I doubt anyone would be looking for it. 😊 I love how your quilting helper, fabric weight and sewing inspector also is a RU-vid photo-bomber. 🐈🐈🐈 It makes me smile. 💗😊💗 Thank you for sharing. 😊🍁🍃🍂🌻🍊
You're the best cat Mamma. Even when you are busy with making the the quilt, you take the time to pet, & play with kitty. I enjoyed this video, you're great. Love the quilt too. I'm glad you told us the designers name, & print's as well. I'll be looking for the fabric to sew my own,(copy "CAT") Botton quilt like tour's. lol "Sew" off I go now for a piece of chocolate. PS. I just had a thought, someone could get rich making little "quilt" chocolate bar's. Just a thought.
I love your tertorials you have help me so much I love the yard quilts but have trouble with the directions but watching you make them makes it so much easier I am a picture person and watching you is great please keep doing them
April I do believe you and I are clones!! 😂 I have a quilting helper but her favorite spot is in the floor next to my pedal. I get smacked if she doesn’t approve my 1/4” seam. 🐈🙄 I think I have figured out the misbehaving blocks. We get them lined up and ready. We leave the room for dinner, laundry rotations or sleep and they decide to party. When they hear us coming back they try to get back in their place and one goofy 🤪 never quite makes it. 😂😂😂 Keep up your awesome videos. I ALWAYS get a smile and have some chocolate!!💙💙 My fellow KY GIRL💙💙 I’m near Ashland.
@@aprilscraftroom and I am going to edit the above. I evidently can’t type either. It was supposed to say “you and I” and not “you Arabs”. Autocorrect is not my friend at times and I wouldn’t want to cause any hard feelings with anyone. I didn’t notice it when I first posted the comment. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Now I’m going to have to seriously break into the chocolate!!😂😂
I love it. So cute. That's definitely a save for me, which means I will make one sometime. Love your videos. Keep them coming. I think that one little mistake makes it interesting. I call it my signature and always ask if they can find my mistake. Sometimes I make one and sometimes I don't. They always look for them and ask where they are. I just say you have to find it. They have actually found ones I didn't know I made. lol Stay safe, stay well.
I love your cat! How they like to inspect your fabric, lol. I too find myself buying the Donna Robertson books. That pink border really sets off your quilt, lovely job!
Thank you for showing us that quilters don’t make mistakes, just variations of the original. Love Donna’s 3 yard quilts. Made a few of my own variations. Debi Brooks.
Yes I caught the booboo but only because your comment made me aware that there was one to look for. I think it's cute as is and I'd leave it there and call it April's signature block ( tell folks you do to one block "on purpose" cause it's "your way of making your quilts uniquely yours")! I love it! We Kentucky girls gotta have each other's back (I'm just up the road from you in Lawrenceburg, KY)
I saw the booboo just because I did the same with two of my squares when I made the button box quilt. its beautiful! I love it. Just found your channel and subscribed, you are so fun to watch.
Love your video! I have started to use Donna patterns, so far got 6 quilts. Glad to see someone else uses the pictures, more easily the the direction. After two quilts it became much easier than the first one. Have fun and want you to know I sooo enjoy you vids.
I am definitely a picture person, too. And I also agree after the first couple you get into the rhythm of her directions. Thank you for watching and I am so glad you enjoy my videos. :-) April
Love your videos April! Looking forward to the next ones. I dont think anyone would have noticed your "oops" if you hadn't mentioned it. It looks like the block in the 4th row down, left side is sideways. Doesn't matter. Love the quilt & your fabric choices!
Pink squares wrong direction but who cares. I love it. Bought the book and fabric from Donna but haven’t started yet. I’m glad you did this one because that piecing would have confused me too. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you April. Love your videos...you make me feel like I can do this being a new quilter. did find your boo-boo, but took me a few minutes...and it makes it unique. Love all you do. Keep up the fun videos....love your sense of humor and the fact your cat crashes your videos. If I still had mine I am sure I would be battling with them. My dog is getting too old to do the stairs, so I get left alone for quilting.....not always for handstitching downstairs...ha. ha.
I have all of her books so far and all of her paternal onlys....not in a book as she says lol....I do get whatever yardage that is also used in the binding....only because I dont do her binding....I keep it traditional. I love your RU-vid channel
Dale Hollow is a beautiful lake. We have been there several times and rented a cabin. That part of Kentucky is so pretty. And there are some great quilt shops around that area. :-) April
Love your videos, you make me smile and you have inspired me to buy the books and use the patterns. $25 Australian plus $25 postage for us though - a total of approx US$65 😱
New to your show. Love Donna Robertson’s show. But with your demo I learned techniques. The cat was fun seems they have to get in the middle of what one is doing. My mother quilted from the age of 11 to 94. She would have come unglued if an animal were on the quilt. However I loved it. Keep up your shows so others can learn the simple reasons for the techniques to improving the out come of products.
Thank you. My Mom has sewn since I can remember and started quilting before I became interested. Now we get to do it together. My Grandmother however would have died if a cat had gotten on her crocheting. LOL. Thank you for watching. April
Love this quilt. An easy pattern, but the fabric is so stinking cute it makes it adorable. Really love all the fabric, and the binding fabric is outstanding. Thanks for the inspiration. Right now I’m making some baby quilts in flannel. Any chance of you doing a tutorial with flannel? Again, thanks for all the tutorials. Really like watching.
I found the mistake but I don’t think I would have if you have s said it was there. Thanks for this tutorial. I have that book and couldn’t figure out the small squares. Love your videos!😅
Caught mistake only because you drew our attention to it. Most people wouldn't catch the mistake as they would be happy to be receiving a handmade quilt, a treasured gift.
Hey sole sister Thanks for another great video ! Caught the booboo ,4 Th row 4 Th block I did this too but I just couldn’t leave it like that! All that work ,come on sole sister it’s worth ripping out the seam ...... It’s such a pretty quilt top 💜
You are good! It just isn't a quilt I made unless there is a boo boo - LOL. Sometimes I'm in a ripping mood - sometimes not so much. ;-) Thank you so much for watching my sole sister. :-) April
