Spot on Dave! My husband sold his "paid for" Corvette 20 years ago, so that I could go to school and we didn't take out a loan. That's a man. He passed away 5 years ago, left me with 3 young kids, but by God...I have an education and can support them! That sacrifice makes me cry every time and I swear to God they don't make men like my man anymore. :( I will NOT let him or my kids down! I'm committed and coming to Nashville for that debt free scream so help me God!

My dad sold his house before he remarried so that they could buy a house together and start over as a joint house. It was amazing because he loved his house.

Children do what feels good meaning" I want to buy the new Apple computer because it will make me cool." They don't take into account their budget, their expenses , and their goals first to determine if that new Apple computer contributes in a positive way to their life. Dave is totally correct that adults value money more and they think carefully before spending their hard earned dollar.

Sara That's kind of funny but no I was not just talking about women. Women are roughly half the population not well over half as I said. A few people of both sexes are adults capable of making mature decisions before the age of twenty. Many people never learn to live within their means. I know I'm generalizing but I'm basing my opinion mostly on The Millionaire Next Door and other books by Thomas J. Stanley.

This is so true. Throughout high school and early college I used to spend a lot of money on weed and booze. I thought it was fine but once I got into college and realized how broke I was I quit using that stuff almost entirely. I saved up a decent bit of money and got into my first apartment and now I’m about 1.5 years into my degree, I’ve moved out, begun building my credit, and have recently gotten into the habit of budgeting. I still smoke occasionally now, but I keep it to weekends and I budget it accordingly. I feel like I have so much more financial freedom, and part of it is because of this channel. That’s saying a lot considering I have pretty bad adhd. Learning to prioritize my future goals and find healthier alternatives to dopamine in the short term was not easy, but it’s gotten me on the right track, and I’ll be getting an electrical engineering job when I graduate where I’ll cut the nonsense out for the most part until my debt is under control. Once it’s stable I’m more than happy to do a little traveling and partying here and there, but I want the stability first

I love his rants, they keep me motivated, and his advice helps me stay on track. This is amazing. We all have that immature child inside of us at times, but you have to be willing to make sacrifices to win, and I am willing to make sacrifices to make sure I am successful. I want to live like no one else, so that I can live and give like no one else.

Yeah, I’ve started limiting my impulses. I get ten dollars a week to impulse with. If I can’t afford it on ten dollars, I have to try to fit it into the next budget. By then, I might not want that near-impulse anymore.

I “planned “ my impulse to buy a $1300 IPad but I paid it off a month later with no interest. I don’t regret it. I feel a little foolish about it but I spend hours on it doing all kinds of things. I can read stuff, watch movies, TV - even do art with the Zen Brush app. It has the large screen.

Social media has a lot to do with How our country budgets it’s money every household. In the 90s 80s and 70s families took care of each other here we are in 2020 and people spend money just to look good on the Internet kind of like show and tell. Some of these trucks and SUVs I see out and about every day or well over $80,000 20 years ago average household would’ve never thought of spending that kind of money for transportation.

Both men and women can spend frivolously. It’s not about the genders. It’s about personal responsibility! Women need to be responsible for their habits and men for theirs! Teaming up and storming down the debt snowball is the way to go, together!

I’m from the uk but everything Dave says still largely relevant almost exactly but I’m reminded how American this show is (obviously the accent is a big one) but treating knifes and guns like children’s toys seems disturbing to me as I wouldn’t think of either of those things as luxuries to enjoy possessing especially knifes, as I imagine hunting animals or shooting bottles may be fun even tho I don’t think it justifies owning a gun but I really don’t understand why owning special knives is a luxury.

If we're going by the rules you'd use to capitalize the title of a TV show or movie, then his only mistake was 'A', I think. Looking at other DR titles, looks like he fairly consistently capitalizes everything, except 'and'.
