Advanced: Fixing Canon B200 printer error - if you've tried everything else

Watch this only after you've tried everything else to fix B200 Canon print error. Good idea to rinse printhead in hot water to remove ink stored in the unit so you can work on it. I tried all the other RU-vid videos over a period of about 1-2 months, and none of them worked. I had hardened and dried ink in the printhead that other methods didn't clean - even after soaking in alcohol for several days. This will show you how to unclog the printhead 100%.
Clearing and repairing Canon printhead QY6-0086, which works with the following Canon printers:
Canon iX6840, iX6850 series,
Pixma MX720, MX721, MX722, MX725,
Pixma MX920, MX922, MX924, MX925, MX926, MX927

After putting print head and cartridges back into printer, do not close those compartments. Leave them open. Plug the printer back in, power it on, and close everything back just as soon as the printer makes a noise to start powering on. Cleaning the print head as shown in this video was the only way to actually get all of the ink out of the print head. You can also clearly see if they're actually clean before you reassemble the print head. Leaving the compartment open and powering the printer on somehow allows the printer to see that the print head is no longer clogged. So both of these steps are necessary. Installing a new print head sometimes requires this same reset process. I put electrical tape over 2 of the electronic board contacts 2 years ago. It solved the B200 error, but I've been stuck printing in black and white since then. This video was the only one that really got everything clean! I'm printing in color again! Update: Removing the two screws works best with a small precision screwdriver. A normal small one will work too, but the precision driver allows you to turn the entire screwdriver without turning the base that is in the palm of your hand. One part turns while the base does not.

You did it man! My printer start giving me b200 error and i tried ultrasonic cleaning in printer head but left the ceramic attached to the socket and didn't solved the problem. After unscrewed it and injected isopropyl in each hole until all of them let light pass through it, the printer never showed the error again! Thank you very much!

I have a success story to share and it starts with pulling the printer back out of the garbage is how far it got. My wife wanted to try one last time as we hadn't tried the printer head removal for cleaning and have a box of assorted ink remaining that was pretty substantial. I started by retrieving the print head, loosening the screws per the video, the white portion folds down, the attached ribbon acts as a hinge, the white portion of the printer head dangles. l ran the white portion under tap water for probably 3 or 4 minutes, I also ran the black gasket I had previously pulled off under tap water. After dabbing the print head with trying to remove as much water as I could I reassembled, placed it in the printer and added all of the printer cartridges with ink. The first three or four times I tried to print or use some of the maintenance functions it failed but on the 5th time it began to work as ink was likely able to perfuse the printer head after the cleaning process. Again, thanks. The printer was already in the garbage before I retrieved it to fix it again.

This is the one that fixed mine after I thought I had given the printer head a really good clean, but no essentially it was still blocked until I did this!

Thanks Cool BUT Another thing I believe we are missing is the "BED" of the printer heads, where they "SLEEP" when not in use, needs come cleaning. Observe where the printer cartridges/heads position themselves in their bed position when the printer is turned off. This area of the printer is where the heads rely on being clean and able to seal from ink drying out while not in use. While turned off, move the heads over so you can access this area. Use a flashlight to see well. Using a water-wet-moist paper towel/napkin, clean this area and any rubber flaps. Constantly turn the paper to a clean area until it is a dirty ball. Repeat with a new wet paper towel/napkin, up to like 5 of them. You'll never get all the ink to come off but at least the majority of it. This might be the reason our heads are drying out or clogging because we've never cleaned their "bed area". Yep Take care

Thanks for leaving out the hardest part, how did you remove the screws? I have just spent 15 minutes trying to use a screw driver and they don't budge. I don't mean to be rude but it is frustrating to see a solution that skips a major step. What did you use to loosen the screws?

Sorry, I haven't been monitoring my video! Sorry to leave that part out. It was fairly easy, at least for me but here's what I did. So I have a very generic tool box that happens to have a screwdriver with interchangeable sized screwdriver heads, and one of the smaller ones fit perfectly. It has a good size handle to give you leverage. If you don't have a tool box or proper screwdrivers at home, I can suggest bringing the printer head to your local hardware store to find the right size screwdriver and that way you can just buy a single one or perhaps invest in a set with interchangeable heads.

@@NickRigas-uo9uwThanks for the reply! Is it possible they started gluing them? I tried some smaller screwdrivers, but then I even went and got one with a bigger handle from my garage, which did not work either. I have many of the precision bits. I believe this is a 00 Phillips. I went and bought and even better one from Harbor Freight that I have not tried yet, and although bigger, still not quite as big as a normal screwdriver. I was thinking of buying a bigger one off Amazon. I ought this about 6 or 7 years ago. If yours was purchased before that maybe they started gluing the screws in so people could not do this. Sounds like something they would do tbh. Because man those things are in there.

You know I wouldn't put it pass them to put glue on the screws although I didn't see any evidence of it on mine. I do remember the first turn of the screw was the most difficult but my did come out without too much of a hassle. I think the more leverage you can get the better and of course having the proper screwdriver head.I just checked my toolbox and can confirm I used a Phillips 00 head.@@jeffn2723

Hi I have the Canon Pro-10s and printhead part QY6-0085. I managed to unscrew the 2 screws however the design is different and the white flap will not simply flip open because it is attached to a long metal plate that won’t release, although it is now loose from removing the screws. Hard to say if I use force will it damage or is there some technique I’m missing, any idea?

Well, turns out the person I bought it from only guaranteed it would print in black and white, which is kind of absurd. It printed in color just very poorly. There are businesses advertising new OEM printer heads but they're so expensive, you can buy a new printer at the price they're asking.

Ah unfortunately this didn't work for me. Wonder if it's the contacts on the printer head assembly that's causing the issue

Merci !

FYI my error didn't fix after the shallow water soaking and drying. BUT then it worked a 2 weeks later when I tried it in the printer one last time! So be patient and know you may need to leave it dry for a week or 2. Take care
