In Fourways, Eskom launched a new ‘load limiting’ pilot to cut demand with the intentions of rolling it out natioanlly. Through load limiting measures during stages 1 to 4 of load shedding, customers’ electricity capacity will be reduced from the 60/80A to 10A. An hour before the start of load shedding, if your consumption exceeds 10A - you will be cut off. If not, during the load schedding window you will be allowed to draw 10A. I have set my 'Grid Peak Shaving' to 2200W and it seems to be working well. You will not be cut off as long as we stay below stage 4.
What happens when the batteries need charging and the load demand is less than the shaving limit? Can the load be supplied and the batteries be charged with the remaining balance from the shaving? Or is it charge batteries only when no load?
Hi Keith. Very nice feature thanks for explaining. I am interested in upgrading to a Synsynk inverter. Can the inverter power be limited in the work mode settings to let's say 1kw if I want to discharge my batteries during the night but I don't want to pull more than 1kw out of them. If the load exceeds 1kw the balance will come from the grid? Is this possible?
