4x4 low range was used in this. There are only 2 traction control modes in 4x4 low. I will test the 3 different modes in 4x4 high range soon. The ground was moist from the rare rainstorm that day.
2005 Ford Explorer 4x4 4.0L, 3.73 Gears, 90's Expedition tow hooks, 166,000 miles.

just pressing the trac control button doesnt turn trac controll off 100% you have to press and hold the trac control button for like 8 seconds until the trac control light flashes and stays illustrated and then its completely off and your explorer is an all wheel spinning, unlimited monster! give it a shot

Question, so if im pulling a car on a dolly in the freeway and im going up hill can I activate thw 4x4 driving? Or do i have to stop, put it in neutral then drive again? Please help

4x4 high anytime, 4x4 low must stop, and I think be in natural with foot on the break, not sure about the last part.

Why didn't you select reverse (low gear) while backing up on that loose surface. You could have slide sideways... I think it would be nice if you explain the off road driving techniques you are using to encourage people to go out! Liked your video good job.

+Jose Acosta Thanks for the recommendation! I'll try my best to make them better! I didn't even think of reverse, until you mentioned it. And good point of not sliding. Always try to go straight up/down on a steep incline. My brother didn't on an old 3 wheeler and rolled down a hill and was injured. Not using low gears probably has something to do with me not liking the loud gear noise when using the engine for breaking down steep inclines. It is silent other than that though. Not even traction control noises like you hear on other vehicles. Although I haven't tried in reverse yet. 1st gear low could also prevent tires from rolling fast enough leading to a loss of control. Just need to keep tires from losing traction. I appreciate you taking the time to write this! Thank you!

Awesome man thank you. Questions: Auto, High, or Low Range? Three Traction Modes, Off, Traction Control On, AdvanceTrac On, Which modes were used? Thank you for the vids, I am a complete Explorer nut, stuck in a Jeep for the moment. Keep em' coming.

The Outdoorsman I would recommend the Rancho Quick Lift and a 32" BFG KO2, You will Love it... There is also a Winch Guard available for it too. I have had a 2002 EB exactly like yours except a V8, then 2 2005s, one an XLT V8 but with the 3.55's and then the other was a EB with the 3.73's. All were excellent trucks.

k2sb20033 Thanks for that! Coilovers would be ideal. :-)

There are 3 buttons on the dash for the old Explorer 4x4 system.
@BorellaFamilyAdventures
@BorellaFamilyAdventures 2 года назад
From 2002 to 04 the AdvanceTrac system was optional. If you have a button between the cupholders in the center console, that's your traction/stability control system.

Does tires don't help, some all terrain tires would do a better job !!!!

Were any of these available with posi trac?
@KeepRightExcepttoPass
@KeepRightExcepttoPass 9 лет назад
They did come with optional axles and do have a limited slip option. I'm not sure if it is available with AdvanceTrac though. On the drivers door sticker are the axle codes. Mine is 46. Axle Codes: L - Limited Slip Differential C - Conventional Differential Code ... Ratio 41 ...... 3.27C 42 ...... 4.10C 43 ...... 3.08C 45 ...... 3.55C 46 ...... 3.73C D1 ...... 3.27L D2 ...... 4.10L D4 ...... 3.73L D5 ...... 3.55L

Shaun R Thanks for watching and commenting! When I was trying to cross a river I noticed some locking diffs would have been nice. Maybe some day! :)

u do realize with a all terrain tire or better that would change everything my explorer same generation has an aggressive tread and I don't have traction control and mine climbs everything just fine
@KeepRightExcepttoPass

The key point of the video is not as much about making it. But how to make it. The slower the speed the less chance for damage and the better I think it is. Speed will conquer most any obstacle off road. Thanks for watching!

Only works when you have a limited-slip differential in the rear. This uses a brake-based traction control and an open differential.

@@BorellaFamilyAdventures Not for traction. Dude is parking on a step hill. E-brake then place in park.
