On WiFi her FSmash hits like Doriyah with G&W frame data. It is crazy how hard it is to react to the range speed and power of her FSmash online. Offline it isn't nearly as crazy.
I think Pythra (Pyra especially) is good at the casual level, but I agree someone breaking into competition for the first time shouldn't be playing this character at all.
@@sandycrash8868 I think Dabuz is moreso talking about people who don't have a deadset character they just want to play. I do agree if Pythra is their favorite character to just go for it.
Nah, that highly depends on the character. Aegis depends on this majorly because she has nothing broken about her. For as good of a character as she is, she is a relatively honest character. The top tiers that you can win with at any level are the ones with broken moves and mechanics, which are honestly most top tiers. Aegis is a very rare character to be considered as high in the tier list as she is and to be so dependent on fundamentals & strategy.
@@ytcmbt2505 Lol except Aegis. You will suck ass with Aegis without fundamentals. It's pretty hilarious to see how many people will talk about the character being OP, then try to use the character & completely suck.
@@randumo24 Biggest factor is her lack of aerial drift. Mythra falls like a stone, she has no aerial movement mix, playing like that takes mad experience
@@dislike6058 Mythra still has more speed, no sourspots = more *effective* disjoint range, and better bait & punish gameplay. Not to mention, some move trade-offs like having a better dash attack, up-tilt, and f-tilt. So at worst, it equally makes up for "lacking" the Roy stuff you mentioned. At best, Aegis is still considered higher than Roy at top level. Barring people like Esam with bad takes.
@@alter9933 first of all, Roy has the better air speed than Mythra (4th place vs 11th) which is extremely important in determining a character's overall "speed," and it helps his recovery. He also has access to Pyra level kill power and Mythra level movement at the same time, which makes him way more threatening than either at any given moment. Roy has an invincible reversal (grounded Up B) and a counter. Two things Mythra would love to have which give Roy a lot of options in neutral, out of shield, and edgeguarding. Mythra struggles with getting parried way less than Roy though because of multihits, has foresight which is just unfair, and is indeed a little faster on the ground than Roy. At the top level, I think it's pretty uncontroversial to say Aegis is the better character, but even then Roy is still a worthy contender who often gets put in top 10 by accomplished players. And at low to mid level, I'd argue Roy is way simpler and therefore easier to accel with. More forgiving, and an easier time securing kills.
@@thomasdarista2782Eh...Mythra is still faster, has better frame data and range. She can easily 0-50% + with one good interaction. You also have foresight against pressure( which Roy lacks) on top of that you have access to Pyra who hits harder tyan Roy and you don't need to be in melee distance. Pyra also have a projetile I mean....Roy isn't top tier. Aegis is. Finally, Roy isn't as easy as people think he is because you still need to take into accoun tou are literally a melee swordsman and failing to approach and pressure( which the enemy is expecting) can easily be exploited
I call her the super fundies character, cuz there is some bullshit, but her tools reward good fundamentals to an egregious degree. It's like building over a foundation with a mansion instead of a house. But the foundation needs to exist and be sturdy.
Informative video, I'm starting to get into competitive and I know they aren't the best with that type of player, but I can't drop them cause I am not wanting to go through a 4th character crisis (Yes I've been through 3 character crisis's)
She also gets no love online. The lag makes doing mythra combos and ledge trapping way harder, so half of the charcters gameplan goes out window. It even makes pyra confirms harder
At the same time tho, it's a char that can really elevate your play, because it does force you to think about what you're doing, and improving your fundamentals. If you only rely on cheese you might never get past that phase, and will be relegated to forever spamming options with no brain behind the decisions. It's not Sheik level "i can't be a bad player". I think the char is fine. But i do understand the argument, def Roy or Cloud or Rob can be better picks
Hard disagree with this take. Started playing smash earlier last year with people who were better than me and Aegis still let me beat them more than any other character could. Mythra has a ton of easy damage if you combo into up B or punish a tech with side B. Pyra cheeses stocks like no other it’s pretty self explanatory. I will say they taught me a lot about the game but now I dropped them for Inkling / Joker If your looking to get into smash don’t shy away from aegis you’ll be fine.
This question is asked and answered everywhere on the internet and the answer is always the same: No because playing him optimally is way too difficult compared to other characters that achieve the same results with much less effort and less needed play time.
Interesting but I don't really agree with this take The average player could mess up the big optimal combos but there are also easier options that are good enough (like using uair/fair instead of rar bair) and still lets them extend the crazy advantage that she has I don't think Aegis disadvantage is that bad outside of offstage scenario. She has foresight, good air mobility to escape annoying situations, swap, and then very threatening hitboxes all around her (including below) when she's Pyra You're also usually not going to die from 1 mistake at lower level (not that it happens every stock at top level either) recovering with Photon Edge will work more often and mid level players won't be as consistent at gimping her or reading/covering all the recovery options (up B/airdodge to ledge/side B/swap with different timings/recover high) The fact that she has so many good options can be a headache is you're overthinking it but otherwise I think it's good since you can do basically anything with good chances of success/good reward and don't really have to care about trying to hit a specific option that you need in X situation. Neutral/spacing/whiff punishing is an important aspect of the game with any character and I feel like Mythra makes all of that much easier for you, which can carry pretty hard if you're usually not that good at it. Isn't it also contradictory to say that she's forced to appraoch a lot if she mostly wants to bait and punish options? And then you have Pyra who gets abused a lot at top level, but can be a godsend at a lower levels with her great rewards off of very simple plays and easy win condition with Dair comboing to a kill move at a wide percent range, and a lot of moves that are hard to avoid and straight up kill. Very reminiscent of beginner/mid level-friendly characters like Bowser as long as you use her mostly for advantage & closing out stocks. The projectile can also be quite handy especially since it goes through enemy projectiles. Just my 2 cents as a mid level player with a pocket Aegis lol
When I play I often play to learn my opponent starting from reactions to more prediction/read based, so I find myself in later stocks playing more Pyra at higher percents as the match goes on and in later games I normally get at least one kill around 50ish percent My other mains are, Ganondorf and Ridley I’ve tried replacing my Ganondorf a few times but I just can’t I always come back to him
Currently trying to decide between Aegis or Corrin.. I love both characters a lot but I dislike counters mainly because I mistake shit and die for using the counter
I main this character….welp time to drop the character I been playing since release I been playing them since release, and was a Yink and Cloud main and Drop use to secondary them until I decided to main them 😭😭😭
Aegis SUCKS at low level. I couldn't do anything with them for a while and then I just dropped them for Corrin, who is a much easier fundies character. Not as good as Aegis, but I got good at Smash because of Corrin. My fundamentals got boosted lol
what i'm hearing that pyra is good but with a bad recovery and mythra is bad because kazuya is better 4:15 her damage output is over double mythra's...
I think he meant: bad for low to mid level players to pick up. Like you need better fundamentals to play at a high level and making mistakes is more costly due to poor recovery.
Hey dabuz do think smash should have 2 pro leagues one with super neutral legal stages and one with more crazy state hazards and in legeal stages like early melee days. Because if you ask me watching pro smash is externally boring compared to watching pro smash in older melee even early smash 4 and brawl when they didn’t just ban everything
Pyra is more bait and punish, the decisions are more in the advantage and neutral stage, is true that you gotta make every move worth it but a fun fact of Pyra is that you kinda play like a grappler, in terms of gameplan (get my combos, get the damage, read the option of my opponent so I can repeat the steps before and get the stock) , sounds easy but hell nah. As a Solo Pyra that's my point of view on this character, on Mythra?.... Idk I solo main Pyra, sorry
« Pyra is more bait and punish » Lmao. I knew you were a solo Pyra main as soon as I read this first sentence. More seriously, you may want to play Mythra as well if you want to have an idea of what is a real bait&punish character x) Pyra is the total opposite: you have to throw your moves in advance and you are the one getting often baited by faster opponent that have better burst options than you.
@@vb5281 I don't think is worth playing Mythra after an entire year of Solo maining her, but this is all personal experience her walk is good and her range is ideal for bait and punish people
Also she doesn’t play like a grappler at all she never wants to get close, she never wants to take risks and give the opponent a chance to hit her. She’s all pressure and coverage.
I honestly don’t know why Pythra are seen as such a broken character I’d say she’s not bad by any means but she’s probably just outside top 5, still insane but not as much as Pikachu, Joker, Steve, Roy or Wolf
