I heard from this news source that the phone records were highly suspicious, which led them to search the property again. Also, when they first searched, the ground was completely frozen. I think they wanted to come back to the property, but weren't sure if the bodies were there. The phone records validated their suspicion and justified them spending time on Chad's property once again. I honestly thought the dude wouldn't be stupid enough to bury them on his own property, let alone bury them only 3 ft deep.

The kids disappeared before Tammy's death. The implication is that she might have seen something, probably without even knowing what it signified, and mentioned it to somebody. For example, she reached out to her Facebook friends about the masked man with what she believed was a paintball gun, never dreaming it was Chad or someone working at Chad's behest. Nobody is trying to claim that she was complicit in any of this mess, but her words or actions might still give us clues to things of which she herself was unaware.
